The preview thread

Maybe you will recognize them more with the red texture:

That looks good.
When I responded to you I didn't see the blue textured preview, there was just a question mark.

I don't know about the blue/purple beams. But I think most of the architecture looks ancient Chinese. Except the steep roof on the front left building, it looks more SE Asian. I really like the main building with the fixtures on the ends of the roofs.

What about a red base and yellow base with grey roofs.

Nice work, thanks. :goodjob:

For ancient Chinese city set, Han dynasty architectures can be referred as templates. Just as shown in your last preview: gray roofs, red beams and pillars, white walls; but I don't agree with such sharp housetop. Some examples from internet:

all of those walls are in China, they don't look like Japanese walls. I think crazyanswer posted great examples. I think the key parts as the large base for the wall gate with the building on top. And the occasional tower.

Kyriakos the set came out really good, now ancient Japan has someone to play with.

Shiro is right, China and Japan have different construction styles.
In my examples, the large building is the gate, with some small towers distributed on the walls.

Talking about Japanese walls, here is some pics for famous Osaka castle:
