The preview thread

Thank you :)

I was thinking that perhaps a better set of medieval forts can be created.

This was originally the castle in the byzantine set, but it is now shown with the new lighting, and looks better:

I need an idea as to the small fort (this will be the barricade) :)

Doesn't look very Chinese although it could work for Vietnam. I'd suggest using the pics at orientalarchitecture.com.

:(

Does this recolouring help any in making it look more chinese?

I modelled everything out of buildings i googled for China.

Also i tried to enter that site, but my anti-virus alerted me that it contains a virus.

Its the other way around: the models were always good, the lighting was not that much ;)
That's why yournew lighting improve the final result: remove the weakest link of the chain.

That's not just the lighting, right ? You added the trees, the "upper stage" that looks like an ancient forum... al these details make your new cities a lot better :) The only detail that's a bit "less good" is the buildings always at the same place, like this round building on the foreground. Could you move it a little bit from one set to another ? It would be nice and would make your new set even better for those like me who use all your graphics :)

The roudn building is the only one that remains the same in all sets. I thought that some continuity would be good, along with the high stages :)

By the way i am happy to announce (although Blue Monkey will attack me :D ) that i just wrote 13 pages of something i consider to be one of my best :)

I kind of like the round building where it is. I like the continuity from one set to the next. What would some of the advantages be in having this round building moved from one set to the next?

Culture specific trees is not a bad idea, but it would open a can of worms. I want to limit changes as much as possible, so as to be able to automatise the production of cities :)

Wonderful. I didn't think of different trees, just of a color change of the leaves like you did with your houses. :)

Still doesn't look really "Chinese."

Your Mediterranean buildings are very historically accurate so why not do the same for the Asian civs?

Here are representations of Tang Dynasty architecture:

Granted that this will not be my most historically accurate set (but i knew that from the beginning), i am interested in it looking pretty.

So here is the possible Metro:

What's next? Is there an ancient European set on the way? If so what will it be like? Celtic?

I could use a Iron age Celtic set and a Roman set if you're if you have them planned. If you did those two then that would cover all the culture groups I have in a mod I'm working on, for one era.

Loving these sets!
