in german we equivalently say "the opposite of good is having good intentions" (meaning just good intentions) if that helps you understand.

Is vanilla Civ 4 compatible with Vista?

A lot of people have been saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" lately, and I want to know what your deal is. Like somebody will say "I think bla bla bla donutos the right thing to do!" and then the other person says "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". WTH? Are you saying we shouldn't have good intentions? Are you saying we shouldn't do what we think is right?

Euthanasia is often done with good intentions...

Good intentions without critical thought can often have bad consequences in the long run. That's what they mean.

So then call it what it is: unforeseen consequences. That's totally legit. Don't phrase it like good intentions are a bad thing.

I think that one is more used by the libertarian types that want to discourage any form of charity.

Can someone explain to me what public Debt is and why foreigners can claim public debt?

As well as how the US let its debt increase so much over the last half-century?

I recently picked up running to keep my condition intact during the christmas days. I usually run roughly 4 km (2,4 miles). What's a nice time for such a distance? (For an 18-year old amateur who isn't looking to run competitively)

8 minute/mile pace is a good starting point I'd say. That equals a little less than twenty minutes for a 4K.

You're 18 though so you may very well be able to go faster starting out. A decent highscool time would be 13-14 minutes @ race pace or 14-15 minutes at training pace.

When a government borrows money, the main way in which that is done in modern times is that the government sells bonds. For the US government, that means US Treasury bonds. State and local governments can also sell bonds. The total US public debt is the total face value of all outstanding bonds. Though in shorthand most people are only referring to the federal debt, and the state and local debt is dealt with separately.

Once these bonds are on the market, anyone with the money and desire to buy one can. This includes foreign governments, foreign private citizens, and foreign business entities. US Treasuries are often bought by foreign governments because they are considered safe: The US government will not default on them and inflation in the US is nearly always moderate.

As for why the US government has so much outstanding debt, that's politics. 90% of US debt was run up because of the fiscal and economic policies of Presidents Reagan, GHW Bush, and GW Bush. They simply refused to be fiscally responsible.

Is virii a word? (As in, a plural of the word 'virus?')

Is female circumcision a popular event? And if so, in what religions/cultures?

I'm pretty sure it's just viruses. Of course, people like to use the double I thing because they think it's sophisticated.

What, were you hoping to buy a ticket?

If you know the length of an arc and the radius of the arc's circle, how do you find the length of the associated chord using the sine function?

Draw a picture and fill in all the things you know. Look at the picture, and think how could you reduce your question to a question about triangle wih one right angle. Use the information you have to gain information about that triangle.

No. It's viruses. For the love of God, don't say "virii". Don't be a pseudo-intelligent person who declenses things in a Latin manner to appear learned.
