The questions-not-worth-their-own-thread question thread IV

Well then. Sorry about that.

Question: are fraternity parties more awesome if you are in the fraternity while attending them, or more awesome if you're not actually a pledge or a brother?

the 2nd. because that implies:

1) You are not in a fraternity
2) You exclusively like women
3) You still party

seriously, you have a choice between partying with your brothers, or partying with a bunch of girls while the brothers party together.

The social phenomenon of fraternities is one of the things I'll be sad to be unable to examine from a closer point if I actually get admitted at an university in Europe. :) It seems extremely interesting and controversial.

You're not missing much. Frats are essentially a way to drink legally. Or at least with the tacit approval of the university. Europe being more sensible doesn't need such institutions.

When I was pledging, I got completely smashed (15+ beers, I can't remember exactly how many more) and walked out of the fraternity house and past a couple of cops on my way back to my dorm. Maybe they couldn't tell I was underage or just didn't care, but it was so funny to me I laughed for half an hour afterward.

That's great then. Of course it goes without saying that if I get to any European university, I'd be sure to get at least a crazy party filled with many people and alcohol once every two weeks. :D

I've been drunk in the US (and I am underage there) and indeed I have passed cops a couple of times. This actually was in...

Spoiler :
San Francisco, this summer!!

We didn't seem so very drunk though, apart from being loud and laughing a lot, we've certainly already had quite a lot of drinks but definitely had no coordination/speech/walking problems at all.

What time tomorrow is Geithner doing his stimulus plan announcement conference thing?

Don't sound too enthusiastic Bigfoot

Question- If i eat (large) grains of salt, does that kill mouth bacteria to any extent?

It would be quite difficult to get a uniform concentration high enough to kill a significant amount of bacteria, but it will kill some bacteria.

Well I kind of wanted to watch it live but now I'll have to just get the highlights later, unless I want to spend my lunch period at the house watching, which, well, I'd kind of rather not.

Some extent. Dentists actually recommend using salty water as a mouthwash when you have infections. Of course, they also recommend mouthwashes, but some of them realise that people are sometimes too cheap for that.

Would my laptop have the same IP as my family's desktop, just because I use the desktop's router?

Say rather that your ISP and anyplace you visit on the net sees your router's IP address. Your router then hides the IP specific to each computer attached to it. So your computers have different IPs, but those IPs only matter to the computers on your side of the router and the router itself. Your ISP account IP is your router's IP.

So if the router's IP is banned, both computers are banned?

Could someone explain what this character is, where it came from, and why it appears all over the internet?
