The questions-not-worth-their-own-thread question thread IV

I don't understand either of them

You mean they kept one of the most precious pigment as a kind of souvenir?

"Painters in the Middle Ages often reserved the most precious pigment for the most sacred part of the work." - If you mean that they saved the best pigment for the best part, then that's the best way of saying it.

Why is the sex education in this country so diabolical? It's bordering on embarrasing... they think bringing a dildo and pack of condoms is a great way of teaching people about sex. They don't talk about STIs, what's right/wrong, how to notice problems... The list goes on. Possibly the reason why a friend came up to me saying "my friend started bleeding the first time she had sex, and now she's too scared to do it again." Because she hadn't been told this was totally normal. :shake:

Wrong thread.

What is STI? I= infections?

Most pre-adult sex ed I've had did go into great lenghts about science, disease, social implication, but mostly skipped contraceptive use.

I didn't receive any condom-based sex-ed til I hung out with my buddies as an adult, or til at least joining the military. Dildos in sex-ed? LOL--never seen that done.

Yes... dildos in sex ed. No wonder people are clueless.

Mine is more of an annectdote, because I was largely schooled parochially, so no surprise that contraceptives were de-stressed. Realistically, I probably knew about them (condoms, IUDs, etc..), but no hands on labs :) Plus I'm out of high school several decades, so there's generational issues, too.

That is hilarious to me. "OK class we're gonna tell you everything you need to know about sex. Now who here has seen one of these bad boys before?"

To be honest, you aren't far off the mark. Once we had this balding, middle aged, glaringly pedophillic gentlemen teach us. He said, "just let me get my penis out" and removed one of the monstrousities. Not only is it a dildo, it is hugely mis-shapen, making one feel quite inadequate... and no doubt giving girls the wrong impression. It's just embarrasing.

Salty, your killing me..:lol::lol:

Care to elaborate? :p

Basically it was about some girl (I dont remember how old she was supposed to be in the movie) had some slutty friends who went to this rich boys house and eventually he gave them all Syphilis, and it apparently spread throughout the school!

edit: look at the tagline for the movie

New question I don't feel is worth it's own thread (though this one is on the line, we'll see what responses are out there...)

Why is the TV show Firefly considered to be so great? I understand people being angry about how it was aired/pulled off - but is all this craziness about it just because of lost potential? The existing episodes don't seem to me to have anything "great" in them - the story never got far enough. Is it because people think River (or Malcolm, for some of you I suppose ;)) is so hot? Is it only popular among Americans because of the whole "cowboy" theme? Did people find the ship, or the settings/special effects, or the outfits/style so good? (I do like the opening song at least) I don't think it was bad, but certainly not great...

never heard of it

Yeah I'm under the impression it's mostly an American thing...so maybe I can get some backup from the rest of the world out there, instead of being shouted down by everyone I know RL...

Edit: Sorry Mowque, my bad :( But then it's also maybe only more popular among young people -though that's often science fiction in general too
