This would be my first post in ages...: when one objects to a wedding, as in when the priest asks, what exactly happens? Yes, I'm thinking of doing this, I have many reasons, but I'd like to know how it works. What happens to the wedding, to me, etc? I know I'll have at least some support.

I'm not overly concerned with getting the crap kicked out of me. I know quite a few people are unsure of the whole thing. Including the bride, but she seems to be bing led to this by her fiancé, and thinks that all her concerns will just disappear afterwards. I've talked to her some, it's been difficult to get a hold of her, but she said if it doesn't work it'll be 'just another experience to learn from.' I have been speaking with her bestfriend, apparently we are the two she has, and this friend also thinks she's rushing and being quite immature and if I do do this, she says she'd back me up, while shes a bridesmaid and all. She's 18 and has father issues, wants to get married and have kids and that bag. Not necessarily wise so I'm trying to save her and possibly other people the seemingly inevitable trouble that this will bring. I may seem pretentious but so be it. Also, she says she loves me like she does this guy, and is very confused. Then she shuts up about it. Women amirite? no? meh.

That seems... quite anti-climatic, but ok!

That's not a good enough reason to mess up the wedding day. It's got to be something major (baby is yours, someone is already married, etc.).

Weddings are very expensive and people don't like them to be messed up.

Do you think they looked happy at the end of The Graduate?

My friend asked me what a "hifidelograph" was. I said it looked like a mangled word as when I googled it I got various bootleg albums.
I know hi-fidelity. What does -graph (the suffix) mean again, Im having trouble getting it in the dictionary.

Probably comes from phonograph, which is the posh word for a record player.

Yes I figure phono-graph. But when I look up graph I keep getting things like "A visual representation of the relations between certain quantities plotted with reference to a set of axes" which has nothing to do with records.

The grooves on the record have analogue information that transfers to the speakers, so it's related to the representation of the sound waves. Lots of words end with graph that aren't physical graphs (telegraph, etc.).

That is what I was looking for. That sucks but it's good to know... not that I lack the capability to do it, but at least it puts my potential asshattery into prespective.

Sure! Come! I'm not officially invited either as the groom hates me since she, well, doesn't!

I'd definitely advise against going to the wedding.

It doesn't seem like there's much you can do.
Buy them a truckload of condoms as a wedding present and hope she doesn't get pregnant is probably the only thing. Marriages can be temporary, kids aren't.

Oh, and IMO you'd be better off not making a mess of the wedding.
If she's decided this is what she wants to do then this is exactly what she is going to do.
Remain a friend, she might need one soon.

Under 18, yes legally. Morally is another quesiton

I should very much hope so. Kids don't come cheap you know it helps to have some extra money. My plan is to breed a large number and send them to toil in the mines while I live in luxury.

Im pretty sure thats illegal these days.

Toil in the fields then. Or in the local fast food place. It doesn't particularly matter where as long as they're toiling for money.
