I know the magazines within the last decade.I dont think they had barcodes in the 1600s

For mine. If it matters Im trying to figure out if this article I have (December 2004) was from that magazine cover. I cropped most the cover out which is why you cant see it.

If the Earth was magically moved to a more massive star (or a binary) while retaining a low eccentricity orbit and had a shorter year as a result, would it need to spin faster or slower to retain the 24 hour mean solar day?

Faster, I think, but don't take my word on it.

The day is determined by the rotation, not the orbit. The year is determined by the orbit.

Not to my understanding. A 'day' for a planet is determined by how long it takes to make a complete rotation. From sunrise to sunrise is the day. Or whatever other arbitrary part of the day you choose.

Now whether the rate of rotation is influenced by the orbit is something I don't know. But if the Earth was making a rotation of 24 hours, and was moved to another star system and still making a rotation of 24 hours, then the day is still 24 hours.

As far I know, how long the sun is up IS determined by both rotation and orbit.

The Earth's sidereal rotation is about 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.1 seconds, but it takes the sun exactly 24 hours to reach the exact same position in the sky because the Sun's position changed slightly, because of the Earth moving along in it's orbit.

Here's a wiki on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_day

I'm sure there's plenty of other sources that can back up the wiki.

Would somebody be willing to proofread something I wrote for grammar mistakes. Id PM it. Thanks :)

Has anyone ever tried to have plastic surgery on their ears so they could look like a Vulcan from Star Trek?

Aimees question reminds me of something. I need a bi-lingual person who knows both Spanish and english very well. Native Spanish speaker is preferred.

I need them to translate something from English into Spanish. It cant be done with Google translate because that tends to leave sentences grammatically incorrect because word order is not the same within different languages and if i translate it literally it could be rife with grammatical errors and improper word usage.

Its very important its done right. Il figure out if its machine translated so only Spanish speakers need apply.

Once you translate it DO NOT post it. PM me with the translation please
