Questions About Spain (Specificially Catalonia):

CATALONIA IS NOT SPAIN!!!!!!!!!

What is the appropriate clothing to wear on the streets?

Whatever you want. In Barcelona walking nude in the streets is legal.

If I were American brand names, will I look like an idiot?

Not at all. Soon you'll realize that lots of people wear american brand names.

If I speak Castillean Spanish, will I be shot or ridiculed?

Barcelona and its surrounding area was settled by lots of andalusians during the 60's, so lots of people speak spanish on the street.

In Barcelona, is it worth walking places, taking Metro, or taking a taxi somewhere semi-far away?

If you want to go from one place to another in the same city: Metro

If you want to go to another city: Bus or Train (only the trains of the Generalitat de Catalunya, never, I repeat, NEVER chose the trains of RENFE)

NEVER CHOSE TAXI!

And if you want to visit the historical Barcelona (Barri Gòtic and Rambles), you better do it walking, BUT BEWARE THE THIEVES.

I just can't post polls. The only button that appears to me is the button new thread.

I didn't live too far from Loring Park when I lived in minneapolis. Not too bad of a place. If you're looking to work down town, there are some places right on the light rail that are good for your price range. One is on 46th st, but I can't remember it's name. They are starting to get more aggresive with the light rail here, but it is taking forever to do. They approved a line from Minneapolis to St. Paul but it's gonna be a while. You won't be too far from the new twins stadium living there though. A lot of people bike here, and vanpool so you may not need a car depending where you work/live.

Well, I'll definitely keep looking. Still will be about three months until I go. The closer to downtown, the better, in my view at this point. I'd probably get some decent use out of the Hiawatha line. If I don't use it each day, then it would take me to the MoA and from there, a bus to Burnsville.

Until I save up for a vehicle, it'll be bus and the light rail line for me. Though I heard MN just passed a higher gas tax...wonder what that would do to the price at the pump.

Finally, just found crime stats. :yeah:

Now I might have an idea of where not to go.

I think moving to the Twin Cities actually makes you farther away from downtown.

That is true, you're heading to DC, aren't you? ;)

Our gas isn't that bad, it was 2.97 yesterday. There's a refinery in one of the more country suburbs, so I think that helps. Though you're right about the gas tax and I haven't seen its effects yet probably.

Ours is almost at four dollars.

What happens after death?

well you could be very happy or suffer eternal damnation, it depends on what you did in life. another theory is that you are reincarnated, and of course one last theory is that death is the end, personally i believe the first one, would you be willing to bet on which one is right?:goodjob:

How does one calculate 22/7?

What is the answer to 280 to the power of 8 divide by 280 by the power of 6

280^2
5840, I think.

22/7 is 3 and one seventh
3.142857 and so on

all in my head, so probably a mistake somewhere.

you have one left over after dividing 22 by 7. 7 won't go into one, so you multiply in by 10, and 7 goes into 10 once. So you put 1 in the next decimal place down (because you multiplied by 10) and repeat with the remainder from that division (which is 3). Etc.

22/7 is the guesstimate for pi if you're working with fractions. At least, that was the substitute they had way back in the day.
