The Rise & Fall of The Mughals ~ v2 ~

I'm not sure I understand this problem of yours. Sorry. I hope someone else can chime in here.

Did you try and fire it up after a second DL without doing anything with the king directories?

Are you having any king issues related to other games?

the other games/scenarios work fine but i have had to modify/rename files in the past so this is not a new error and probably one that i complicated by an earlier "fix"

i downlloaded both the scenario and rar again - but still getting the same

File Not Found

"Arts\Units\King Arab\..\Sounds\Casting.wav"

i'll track it down somewhere - this looks too cool to just give up on

thanks for the help

Yeah sorry I couldn't help more. I'm not that much of a techie. It does sound like the problem lies in your earlier fix. Perhaps reinstalling Conquests would be the way forward but I would defer giving absolute advice to someone more in the know.

Someone else should post back more pointed advice but if not, then open up a thread in C&C forum.

Good luck and you're right, it is too cool to just give up on

But I'm bound to say that!

Posting from uni, but no doubt the King Arab unit is used as a king unit for some civ in the scen.

But Casting.wav? King units don't normally have a sound file of that name, so I suspect that oradba has fiddled with the units ini file, and left it with a reference to a non-existent file (or a file outside the path for the scenario). If this is the case, he should get the same crash if he starts up a normal regicide game as the Arabs. If this happens, the problem is definitely not with the scen, and oradba needs to clean up his King Arab ini.

its not just the arab but also korean and aztec - i haven't modified the ini's - i am a techie but i do all my damage in databases - normal conquests and the scenarios run fine -

Thanks for stepping in TLC :goodjob:

FYI: These are the kings that are being used which our friend is having trouble with:

Ibrahim Adil II (Bijapur) ~ Montezuma of the Aztecs.
Rana Pratap (Rajputs) ~ Abu of the Arabs.
Prithur Narayan (Nepal) ~ Wang of the Koreans.

yup - i was able to create an arab leader - as a test, i modified the biq file for murghal to change all references re arab/korea/aztec - so now, when i start the scenario i get a pop up which says
"The Mughals are building the Grand Hareem" and several more, and have logged in as the leader of the safavids

That's a small glitch. Totally superficial, won't affect the game.

Just hit enter as you would do normally. I'm just waiting for someone on these boards who knows how to fix that. It's a weird one.

ok, i'm off to work but i have to say the detail and art here are incredible - thanks again for all the help guys.

Good on you for getting the problems fixed. Do please report back further on the game if and when you get the chance.

Have a great day!

You want pirates? You got pirates. It's a pyrates life for me.

I thought I would start off sailing the seven seas spreading havoc far and wide. Hardly a few turns had passed before everyone else's ships seemed to be headed for my little corner of the world with the intention of sniping at my pirate fleet. I lose three ships and decide to consolidate the fleet at Malacca to lick my wounds and build up strength. This is going to be harder than I thought. It will be very easy to survive until the end of the game of course :smug:; but I won't be the winner :nope:. I am perfectly safe on Malacca Island (just as long as I don't build nine cities on the mainland).:p

1536 - I found Nicobar on Banana Island. I also drop a unit off on Rock Island (the one north of Banana) to stake out a claim.

1547 - I found Carnuta on Rock Island.

1579 - I found Nancovny north of Pirate Coast. Three of the big boys demand tribute and maps. I pay up. No need to antagonize these guys, right?

1588 - I have adopted a "spider's lair" strategy. My ships hide in my three island cities. When someone sails by, I pop out sink them and pop back in. Unfortunately, everyone else's ships seem to be stronger. Maybe I should concentrate on building more Prowlers? :undecide: If I can ever put together an offensive force there are two possibilities to use it: 1. capture Ceylon or 2. attack the Dutch. I sure wish I had cannon.

1599 - I found Merguid near the Irawaddy delta.

Lots has been happening among my neighbors. The Bengals and the Portuguese have taken or destroyed all four EIC cities on the subcontinent and one on the Safavid coast. That's five they've lost. I thought they were stronger than that. Too bad for them; good for me. The Mughals have destroyed the Nepalese (1609). They also knocked down a few Dutch cities in the mountains. Golconda, Vijayanagara, Rajput, and Ahmadnagar, have been at war with each other for a while. Myanmar starts kicking Dutch butt (1603) and captures two cities. Wow, those little orange guys are persisten! I decide to send a couple of raiders north from one of my coastal bastions to destroy every road they can find which is not in someother civ's territory. No sense in making thing easy for them. I notice that the French and the Safavid's have been very, very quiet. :hmm:

So far I have not seen the p-l-a-g-u-e. Knock wood. :scared:

Slow and steady. Slow and steady. The Dutch seem to be losing traction on the slippery slope. I need to have a few settlers in reserve to jump onto their islands in case they are knocked out of the game.

Good stuff my friend. Here are some tips on playing the pirates which might be handy:

- The Malacca Menace ships have Lethal Sea Bombardment. This makes up for their seeming weakness when compared with other ships. Stack em up and do damage.

- Actually you're not entirely safe on islands, the Euros have amphibious Swashbucklers and their kings have the same ability. And I've seen them use them before.

- Remember that your Malacca Raider is amphib also.

- You've got lots of luxs to gain control of, which you can then use to manipulate the more powerful civs.

- Yeah, you won't win the game but you can create havoc.

- Arrr!

A pyrate's live is not an easy one.

Malacca Pirate Island has no harbour or harbour-equivalent at start, which seems odd.

Pirates demand equal starting chance. A few more ships wouldn't hurt either.

The saga continues. No one will trade me for salt peter; no one wants my few luxuries.
1637 - The EIC threatens me. They're has beens; I ignore them.

1638 - Vasco and Rajput declare war on the Safavids. Nothing happens.

1646 - The Mughals destroy the Ahmadanars.

1652 - The fleet sinks a Dutch ship of the line.

1658 - The Mughals destroy Golconda.

1678 - The Safavids declare war on me. How nice.

1683 - The Safavids capture Mergui.

1684 - The Safavids capture Pirate Haven.

1687 - The Safavids capture Nancowry.

1688 - The Safavids capture Pirates's Coast. I no longer have a presence on the mainland.

1693 - The French destroy the Rajput. The French?

1695 - My fleet defeats the French in the Naval Battle of the Andamans. They lose a ship of the line and a galleon. I wonder what their intentions were.

1696 - My economy crashes.

1702 - Ceylon jumps in.

1703 - The Safavids agree to a peace treatry with no costs for me.

1713 - Myanmar and the Mughals declare war on me. It's nice of them to think of me but neither one has any ships. Right now, the Mughals are in the lead with half of the points required for victory. They are still a long way from a population/area victory. I wonder if I'm strong enough to invade Ceylon. Of course if I leave my home base, I weaken my defenses.

Yes!! It's here. I'm d/l now and probably
try to play right away. I wonder who I get
to be first.

Thanks you
