the Risk game: Civilization

That's not what I meant. What I meant is that if I want Willem to win this, Willem will win this. If I am online a lot, check this thread a lot, I can always respond first in the new round and save Willem. Basically, I can tell you now that the persons Danielos, Pieceofmind and Ramesses are nomiting are going to win, because they are fast and post first. If they stay consistend in their choices, those leaders are going to win. Someone that logs in once a day and checks this thread has no chance at all at winning =)
I don't need to post a lot to win, but if I post first every round, then my leader doesn't even have a chance to lose.

Well I consider it a fairly strange game. The only rounds that will matter will be the last few rounds. I was thinking the most reasonable rule would be to say you cannot post until 5 people have posted after your previous post. It would make the endgame interesting.

Actually, I think a cool game would be to put our own names in place of the leaders, and have the rule that you cannot save yourself. Rather than saving some leader who we're simply 'rooting' for, we'd be playing to survive. I'm not sure how the last rounds would work though, and in this game it would be more important to have rules about the order of players posting. Give me a bit of time and I might post another game along these lines. Though I'd hate to pull the attention away from this game if Danielos doesn't want that.

EDIT. Ok I said I wouldn't but I did. I have started a new thread with the signup for a new game I called Diplomilation for the moment. Participants in this thread will hopefully signup!

Yeah, well, I didn´t make up this game. I just found it on IMDB, and wanted to try it on Civ. However, the more I play it the more I can see the flaws as you mentioned. I agree there should be more rules and restrictions on this game to make it fun. Substituting leaders for ourselves doesn´t make sense though. What do I know about you guys that would make me vote on one rather than the other??

Maybe, a better and more fair game is another I´ve seen on IMDB, The character Elimination Game. You have a list of characters, each give them the same set of "hitpoints" (say 20), and then you are allowed to add and withdraw a set of points (say 5) to any of the characters. If a character reaches 0, he/she is eliminated and last one standing wins. Usually there is a one post/day-limit only too... Maybe we could try that on the Civ-leaders? :king:

This is easily solvable by making the last round a poll. Which, with a high probability, will be an exact copy of a "Who is the hottest Civ babe" thread btw.

Though 3 picks/round is still 15 pages of pure voting. 5 picks/round is 6 pages, with a possible reducing to one candidate per vote, it would be like 11 pages. or 20 at a rate of 3 picks/rounds.

I would suggest that when we have 10-12 leaders left we could change this game into a Character Elimination Game. Then all leaders are given a fixed amounts of "hitpoints" (say 20), and then you are allowed to use a set amounts of points (say 5) to add and/or decrease the number of hitpoints. When a character reaches 0, he is dead. Last one standing wins. Does this sound like a good idea? It might be a bit more fair than using this risk/safe-engine for the most popular characters...

Danielos
Dead is bad. Those who post the fastest will kill unwanted picks. But the idea is good. Just drop the killing part, and put a 1 or 2 days limit, and everyone has 5 points to distribute(adding or subtracting). Then count. This way everyone can contribute w/o time pressure. This way we can all push Victoria into negatives, basically dead, and Boadicea to sub hundreds. (or the other way around)

OOC: Looks fun, but I think it should be in the Forum Games, as also the Diplomation game. :shrugs:

Go Chin Empire (shamefully advertizes Diplomation or how to spell it :P)

lol I didn't know there existed a forum for forum games. Should I ask a mod to move it? In any case, I guess when the game starts it'll be in there.
