The Road or The Resistance

In this case, I wonder if it would acceptable to be a suicide bomber? :dubious:

Being in the military, I'd probably already be dead. If I was the only one left from my unit and a resistance had formed, I'd help them, though I'm not sure staying in the city is the best option for a resistance group. Depends upon the geography of the area and the equipment the resistance and the enemy has. It is so much easier and more effective to go after supply lines.

Happened here in 1945. Would I have joined the Wehrwolf? Certainly not.

So yes, it is a "depends" question...

No, but Tycoon would. :p

I would be perfectly willing to do something along those lines as long as I don't rely on cowardly actions like attacking civilians. No, I would walk up to a base, fight to the death, and when I'm about to die...KABOOM! Yes, I would be willing to do so.

What's the government in exile doing? I assume it's the legitimate govt., democratic and that I'm sympathetic towards it.

Does the world know (or care) what's going on?

Fight, or... wright?

I'd be rather wasted in a military capacity I fear (and I'm assuming the air force no longer requires my services as general filler of gas and sweeper of floors. Or rather I know they don't. They told me, as I no longer have a specified war-time posting).

Trying to join the government in exile it seems then. "Tell The World!", kinda' fing.

Maybe they can train and deploy me in a military role, if that's what they need. Or doing something else, depending on what my govt. considers most useful.

Just a bunch on uncoordinated resistace fighters won't do much good.

They need direction and training. Them having the backing of the lawful govt. in exile is also important. They certainly won't bring the occupier to his knees, but they might be very useful politically.

Having them around as loose guns, not in contact with the govt. in exile, might even be a liability should there be opportunities for negotiating with the occupier. (In this scenario that's not very likely. They're clearly not the kind of people that can be reasoned with.)

If it's a situation where we're hoping our allies will get on our case and liberate us, the govt. in exile still needs to be directing the resistance, and coordinating their efforts with our allies.

And if we're truly alone facing this occupier, then it's equally important for the govt. in exile and the local resistance to be in contact, allowing the former to send word to people in the occupied country that we've not given up, and the latter official recognition as fighting and speaking for the lawful govt. ("London sends word that..." etc.)

In the unlikely event the resistance should grow strongh enough to actually defeat the occupier, without having worked out the post-war politics, we could get a civil war out of it to add injury to injury.

It could turn out like Afghanistan, with a bunch of warlords duking it out and no one giving a rat's ass about the democratically elected govt., out of touch for way too long in some foreign capital, thinks. Which is also a reason for hitting the road and trying to link up with the govt. in exile.
