The RoM Slowdown Culprit

So is a Beta available for Hard testing? (hint, hint) :D

JosEPh ;)

That would be very handy. Not all the columns need spacing, some of the Renaissance is already a little empty. But the modern and future era's are very full.
So what eras should I tinker with? I know I need to take care of the last two eras but what general eras should I mess with? I'm in the middle of toying with them now.

The Ancient era could use a column or two. So could the medieval. The modern era needs like 3-4 new columns. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

Column? Okay then, should I add them to the beginning or end of those eras?

In the middle. Use your judgement, but put them in-between columns that are or are nearly full.
Will do, I'll post a before and after excel sheet to show what I've done. This also will show the coordinates and tech names as well as the colors for the eras.

Btw, there is a new speed tweak mod in the Modpacks forum. I already co mpared it to CAR. It modify different code from CAR and that only in one file, CvAIUnit.cpp. It was SUPER-EASY merge of CAR and Speed Tweak by Sephi. So you should be able to merge that in your next release.

Unless you can change the size of the tech screen spacing vertically will mean a vertical scroll bar appearing. This does not go down well with most players. At least it hasn't in the past.

A small price to pay for even more fun. Btw most hardcore Rommers even memorize the tech tree in their sleep. You could do a vote on this, nevertheless.

So, could one describe the population of this forum as "Romulans"? Are we from "Romulus"?

Sorry, Star Trek jokes, I couldn't resist. ;)

you are merging the new speed increase right?
:clap::bowdown::worship::assimilate:(couldn't resist :))

Oh lovely, at least I haven't made any physical changes yet. I'm still doing the excel sheet layout. I'll make a thread for it in the RoM main forum with a poll option. That should attract Zappara's attention for his feedback as well. I will be busy for the time being doing menial administrative tasks with this as I was meant to do.

I'm actually setting up the installer at the moment. I changed tons of files... :(

Okay! So where is the link?

In the Beta link under your sig line?

A Hint Puhleeasse! :scan::D

Okay.

Sigh!

Patience they say is a virtue. ;)

I'm assuming this is for 2.8, is there any chance of something similar for 2.71? Or would it be too much work, having to do things over? I can't to anything past 2.71 until multiplayer is fixed. By then we may have modmodded our own version to the point of no return! :)

No, I'm afraid your stuck using version 1.351. Any later version than that was using RevDCM 2.6.

I also can not move backwards and make a version for 2.7 now. I've gone to far ahead. I'm afraid you'll have to play without my latest features for MP. You can still use them for SP though....

Getting rid of those slow pythoncalls would be great thing :)

I remember having made a list of new xml modifiers that I could have used in RoM... there has been so many ideas that I've had to discard because there wasn't suitable xml modifers for them...

You can see the list of new XML modifiers I added for 1.41 on my OP. I've got about 15 more unlisted ones in my unreleased beta...

I've gotten rid of all the calls, except now I need to update some of the upgrade paths again, for your megapack.
