Be careful, they're quite vulnerable to cavalry and archers ;)

Yeah, orcs pretty much suck on their own, you have to support them with some regular troops. I find a combo of 3-4 Orc Raiders and 4-5 Snaga Hunters plus some cavalry works well for my play style. Orc Raiders have surprisingly decent morale, they can hold the line against militia and swordsmen long enough to encircle it from behind with either cavalry or another unit of orcs.

British naval abilities rapidly declined once the French invented the "pause" button. (Though to be fair, the French were ambushed at Aboukir Bay in real life, whereas N:TW has it with the French as the aggressors, oddly enough,)

Dare I say friendly fire wiped out your front battery.:crazyeye:

The final battle of Napoleon: Total War for me:
Spoiler :

I invaded Russia with four stacks: Napoleon/Murat, Ney, Massena and Davout. Ney and Massena went for St. Petersburg and Davout went for the Crimea, which left the Napoleon/Murat army to face the final Russian army before occupying Moscow. The Russian stack, appropriately enough, had 1812 soldiers.

I took 800 casualties, including Murat, while the Russian army took 1,400 and retreated back to Moscow before surrendering.

Interesting. How well does that army actually do in the field? I would've thought that, given the Total War timespan, a missile army lacking some sort of melee backup was asking to be butchered.

I can never get musketeers to work correctly in Medieval 2. Even in custom battles where I use maxed out Janissary corps, they seem useless to me. The only time they've ever been useful is when I can put them on a relatively steep hill and then surround the base of it with infantry, but that's a very rare occasion.

They won't fire through friendly lines (which is understandable). In this battle they were on a hillside, so both lines could fire together. Needless to say, devastatingly effective. Several units of Druzhina charged my lines, but half were cut down by gunfire before they made contact, and were so demoralized that they routed seconds later anyway.

Also, I  those Cossack Gunners; the only gun cavalry in the game! Truly spectacular units all around.

Cossack cavalry, are you playing stainless steel? This is going to shock everyone, but I haven't tried stainless steel yet.

Me neither. It changes too much.

Oh, I'm aware that they don't shoot through friendly lines. My problem is that when they do shoot, it seems to be utterly ineffective. It'll kill two or three men, and it'll only route the receiver if they're simultaneously being engaged by another unit.
