it's just a car

Yeah, I suppose I got a little carried away there with my clarification about the tiger tank... I used to think that a Porsche was just a car until I drove one several years ago. Since then, I've been struck with a fever for Porsche that can only be cured by jumping in the driver's seat and going for a joy ride. Also, let's just say that I take the long way home as often as I can!

I should have been more thorough (Jesus H Christ you are sensitive! :) )

It is quite amazing how sensitive a man can grow, when he has put love, time and money in a car! I know I am not the only one!

I chose other, because I have a couple of Porsches, a 951S and a 944S2. They have back seats, but they certainly aren't comfortable for anyone over the age of 5. Of course, the seating capacity of the cars is a non-issue for me. All that matters when I am in those cars is the purr of the engine, the lateral g's, the open road before me, and the huge smile that is invariably on my face. :)

A 951 is quite rare I think! I don't think I ever saw one. Does it really say 951 at the back? Or just 944 turbo? In that case I did see some, without knowing it.

I can respect that... If I were not a complete weenie driver, I might be the same way.

Soon, I'll be in the public transportation category, and I'll be happy as hell about not having to pay for or maintain a car any more.

Yes, they are fairly rare, but nothing close to the scale of rarity as such Porsches as the 959, '97 911 Turbo S, and the upcoming Carrera GT . There were about 20,000 of the 951 (944 turbo) made from 1986-91, of which around 12,500 went to the U.S. market. The 951S (944 turbo S) is even rarer, with only 5000 being made, of which 2500 went to the U.S. market. (The 951S, which was basically a street-legal 944 turbo cup competition car, was originally supposed to have 1000-car production run. The demand was so high, however, that Porsche went ahead and made around 5000.) By the way, answering your question about the name on the back: they all just say "turbo." I have seen a couple of cars with "951" on the back at conventions, but it was done by the owners. Also, 951 and 951S were the in-factory designations used by the Porsche engineers; most Porschephiles call them by this name, as well, while the general public usually calls it the 944 turbo (s).

You certainly aren't the only one! I'm sure that I am as passionate about my Porsches as you are about your Fiat. Nice car, by the way. :goodjob:

I found an old (1999) tuning magazine. It was a Porsche special. 951 isn't even mentioned! All about 911/912, 924, 944, 928.

If only 7500 stayed in Europe, I guess only a few are here in Holland.

Btw: Did you know a FIAT 850 can and will overtake a Porsche 356 going downhill on a Jura mountain road?

I drive a Toyota 4Runner, and it will be my 16th birthday present from my parents.
