The Song of the Moon

Good to hear the starter civics are close.

We have quite a few worthless techs so adding more before culling the dead weight shouldn't be necessary yet.

Don't look at me, woodelf, That stuff has been in for weeks now. It's just waiting on the XML folks to make duplicate buildings and units with the appropriate traits.

I have to look at someone since I'm not sure what to do with it. ;)

Should tanks require Aluminum, Titanium, Tungsten, any of the three? I'm trying to tighten up resources and unit co-dependencies.

How about titanium? It seems to be fairly abundant on the moon, and AFAIK know is very strong. Aluminum might be good for shell casings and perhaps the finer parts of the equipment, but overall, titanium is the better choice.

Edit: At least it seems common on your moon. :crazyeye:

Should probably fine tune the green face on :nuke: resources.

As it is, I gave a plutonium to each of the AIs, ruining their population :D (all of them have a bunch of size-1 cities)

While we're at it - how come plutonium comes with a green face, but uranium doesn't?

Actually that would make a good project/building/tech type thing. Although I thought comets were ice and asteroids were metals/stone?

Already proposed for the wonders department. ;)
And asteroids closer to the sun are indeed metallic, but for instance those in the rings of Saturn are mostly ice.

That's funny. ;) A definite bug/cheat we need to squash.

Maybe you'll need to build the building that uses plutonium or uranium to get the unhealthiness.

That sounds doable. Ti for tanks and maybe Al for artillery for it's shells at least for some variety.

Hi, found a bug, automated units get stuck on crater rims. This also applies to the AI of course.

Thanks. I wonder what the AI is doing up there anyways! :p Hopefully Belizan or Matt can figure how to keep the AI from getting hung up.

Any chance that there is a settler in the group? We know that the AI wants to settle on the rim, can't, but doesn't leave!

*digs up a somewhat old post and shakes the dust off of it*

the idea of barbs on the moon was just too weird.

Opinion: If we've got the resources to dig big holes into the moon and make large cities out of them, then there will always be a big enough resource base for religious fanatics and/or people who just don't like civilization in general to build little tiny holes for compounds/storage depots out in the middle of nowhere. After all, if the compound or storage depot has its own renewable O2 supply, all the barbarians'd need is an O2 canister just big enough to get them to where they're going to attack. It doesn't even need to have much volume, if they get shot wearing a very-high-pressure O2 canister, so much the better, the explosion/explosive decompression does even more damage.

But, that's just my opinion and why I keep barbs on.

Also, keep up the good work on the mod folks, like it so far!

Go back and read up the very carefully manicured and editted description of the system I posted when I first came out with it. It's all well described as to what to do there. Then ask me specific questions about what you don't understand 8). Or you can wait for Matthewv to do it, which was your reaction last time ;).

Do barbs actually go after the AI? It always seems they make a b-line for me. LOL. When is there going to be a new update? Like your mod. Keep up the good work.

2-3 weeks I suspect, although there is some loose talk about an interim "patch". There is a lot of stuff that's been done that wasn't put into this release.

I ho[e to do all the work to get the system working properly(Incuding a good explaination on how it works) though you will have to have some patiance as it will be a while before I work on it.

Click to world builder botton and you will see how much the barbs go after the AI. I the last game I played each AI had at least two barbs in their territory

That would be a Matt issue 8).
I will look into this when I have time.

I'm more than willing to put together a patch that addresses some of the issues mentioned. It won't fix the stuff that I need Matt's help on though. ;)

If you do, please get the latest version from Matt with the new civics. I spent *alot* of effort getting those to work. Would be nice to get some feedback on them 8).

Edit: Oh, and you might want to look at them yourself before you posted them up, sanity check and all that.

If Matt or you send me the latest version of the Super Civics I'll take a look at them. Currently I'm trying to make all of the units look more Lunar and trying to get that Tech flowchart made...

Could be missing something here, but to repel charged moondust, would you not need an opposite charge rather than no charge at all?
Actually guys what I think you're looking for is ESD, Electro Static Discharge. On Earth we use it to save the PN junctions of semiconductor devices, IC's, diodes, transistors etc. There's no reason why es or even Anti-static practices can't be implemented on the moon to repel the pesky dust. Besides, you really don't want to expose grease and lubricants to a hard vacuum unless you're using a slicone based lube.
