The Triumph(?) of the Boers: Yet another AoI Story.

Most likely Germany & Austria (so I can complete my Uber-Anschluss).... I've already got every other Germanic-Speaking nation under my control (except the US, but they can KEEP Festung Amerika), and they're Furious with me, so I may as well....

...However, with the current fracas in South America, now might be a good time to take out New Granada, and thereby gain Coal and Iron in South America (allowing me to railroad my holdings), as well as bring ALL of Madagascar under my control....

Who knows... You all know that I'm an opportunistic SOB, and will mostly likely go after what best suits both my long and short-term goals... I never thought I'd be able to do this, but unless something REALLY screwy happens, it appears that I'll actually win this thing!

Hi!
First, this is a great story!
It has inspired me to start playing CivIII again, in particular the AoI scenario.
Having a game as America, conquered Mexico, Hispaniola, the Cuban Natives and the Spanish Colonies (plus the Canary Islands) so far.

But I have a question: Here (and/or in TaniciusFox' Second Reich story) there are military alliances and mutual protection pacts from very early in the game. But if I understand the editor correctly, alliances aren't possible until Industrialization II (somewhere in the 1905-1914 era), and MPPs aren't possible at all.
Is that just something you/TaniciusFox changed in your own AoI versions? Or do I get to MPPs eventually?

Not that I'd engage in them unless the British wage war against me, but it's fun seeing the others destroy each other...

Yes after Industrialization 2 you get MA but not MPP, To get MPP you have to edit it.
hope that helps

The only MPP in the game is the German-Austrian Locked Alliance....

Chapter 3: "Your Mother was a Hamster and Your Father Smelled of Elderberries!"

The first week of August 1914, Fuchou launches the first Chinese Coastal Battle Ship, the RCS Fukiang (RCS = Republic of China Ship). Cairns launches another Australian Coastal Battleship, the ACS Victoria.

Elsewhere in the Pacific, the liquidation of the French Empire continues with the Battle of French Polynesia.... After pounding the defenders into hamburger, the Jerusalem Battle Group continues on its way to Sint Dominiek while our ground forces go in. Two regular Commando divisions wipe out the three Colonial Infantry divisions guarding the area, capturing the islands:

FrPolynesiaCaptured.jpg

The former French Polynesia is re-ordered as the Sovereign Republic of Tahiti, and the last vestigal French presence in the Pacific is wiped out.

In the Caribbean, the Pretoria Battle Group hammers Bridgetown in the French Virgin Islands. The FRS Jason Voorhees II sinks a French Armored Cruiser in the harbor, the Pretoria sinks a French Destroyer while the FRS Kabul and FRS Timbuktu sink two Steam Transports. The cities defenders are all reduced to less than 50% troop strength and our commandos go in. A regular Commando division and a veteran Boer Light Cavalry division are wiped out in exchange for two divisions of Colonial Infantry, two French Infantry divisions, a French Cavalry regiment and a Colonial Cavalry Regiment.

BridgetownCaptured.jpg

Bridgetown falls and is added in as the Afrikaner Virgin Islands Provisional State.

In the Mediterranean, a 7.5cm GebK245 sinks a Balkan Steam Transport off the Coast of Cyprus.

In Africa, all available Artillery hammers Libreville, destroying the Coastal Fortress and inflicting 50% or heavier casualties on all defenders, including a French Colonial Infantry division in the hills NE of the city. The stragglers are finished off by a Renault Gepantser Groep, while the rest of our fairly substantial African forces attacks the city itself.

In the fierce fighting, two Commando divisions and two Boer Infantry divisions are slaughtered, but the French lose SEVEN divisions of Colonial Infantry and a Colonial Cavalry Corps as well as control of the city:

LibrevilleCaptured.jpg

Libreville is re-named Freeburg and organized into the Gabon Prov State, and France's "Back Door" into our home territories is securely shut!

In Iberia, the French troops outside Lisbon that mercilessly slaughtered our unarmed Civil Engineers are likewise shown no mercy, with a regular Commando Division wipeing out a French WWI Infantry division, and regular Renaults duly slaughtering a Hotchkiss M1897 MG battalion and a French Cavalry regiment. Our ships and Artillery in Iberia then proceeds to open a can of whoop-ass on the French Navy in the Straits of Gibraltar.

The FRS Ogedei the Mad and FRS Port Franqui II sink Courbet Class Battleships, while the FRS Kandahar and shore-based artillery sink two Arabe Class Destroyers and the Steam Transport they were Guarding.

At the ongoing siege of Corsica, during the latest round of bombardment on Bonifacio, the FRS Thunderfall sinks a French Battleship in port, the FRS Alexandria sinks a Steam Transport in the harbor, the city defenses are blown up and all defenders take damage, but not near enough to risk an all-out assault. Transports unload more reinforcements and the rest of the troops dig in for the long haul.

In Eastern Europe, General Veers' artillery division hammers Troppau, reducing all defending units to 50% strength or less. Three Commando divisions leading the assault wipe out three divisions of French Colonial Infantry. A regular Commando division manages to overrun a veteran French WWI Infantry division and earns a promotion to veteran status, while a veteran Commando division not only clears out a Hotchkiss M1897 MG battalion, but a Colonial Infantry division as well, earning promotion to elite status. Four more Commando divisions slaughter their weight in French Colonial Infantry, and an elite Commando division takes out the last Colonial Infantry division and a Colonial Sentry regiment, capturing the city!

TroppauCaptured.jpg

Troppau and the surrounding area is organized into the Republic of Slovakia.

Elsewhere In Oostenryk and the Czech Republic, invading French units are hammered by our Howitzers, suffering massive casualties as a result. Our Light Cavalry regiments have a field day: They wipe out two divisions of French WWI Infantry, a French Renault Automitrailleuse Division, two Chasseur Alpin divsions, three French Cavalry regiments, three Colonial Cavalry divisions and a French Infantry division in exchange for the loss of a single regiment of their own.

All 7.5cm GebK247 Mountain Gun batteries (under command of General Veers) and the entire Balkan Reserve Army (30+ divisions) move out to hit Amsterdam... The capitol of our forefathers will be liberated by the end of the month!

In various skirmishes in Africa, a veteran Commando division is wiped out by a Colonial Cavalry regiment outside Bangui, who are in turn finished off by a Veteran Boer Infantry division. Further North, an elite Commando division and an elite Boer Light Cavalry regiment wipe out three Colonial Sentry regiments North of Ghardaia.

Elsewhere, one ton of Raw Materials is cashed in at Wien (Vienna) and four at Constantinople, increasing our ever-widening lead in the global export market.

During the middle of August, Massive French assaults on the Wien Line (as the network of trenches and rugged hills outside the city have been dubbed by Afrikaner troops in the area), Bangui, and the Amsterdam siege camp are driven off... Our only loss in these battles is a single Boer Infantry division, but the French lose two WWI Infantry divisions, a Chasseur Alpin WWI Infantry division and a Colonial Cavalry regiment, on top of which some units suffered 75% casualties, but were able to retreat from our Maxim MG battalions.

Elsewhere, French forces land outside Plymouth.

Thus this chapter comes to a close.

Bravo! :goodjob:

Now that those French fools have been dealt an enormous blow in America, Oceania, Africa and even Europe, it's not too long before the Federal Republic's flag flies over Paris. ;)

I look forward to seeing all of France's blue being painted over in the next map. :D (Let's just hope the Frenchies don't manage to get any allies...)

Book III: Operation Frog Paté
Chapter 4: "We're French! Why do You Think We Have These OUTRAGEOUS Accents?!"

French Command center in Paris, last week of August, 1914:

The messenger barges into the Field Marshall's office and says, "Sir! The Afrikaners are Invading through Holland and have begun their assault on Amsterdam, even as I speak!"

"Damn!" the Field Marshall replies, "Not again! I though that we'd be able to prevent that unpleasantness by capturing both Belgium and Holland.... Order all troops you can spare to the front! We MUST not let them break through!"

Outside Amsterdam, General Veers' artillery and the Cape of Good Hope Battle Group begin pounding enemy positions in the city, wiping our 75% of the city's defenders.

Two regular Commando divisions leading the assault wipe out two French WWI Infantry divisions and a M1897 MG battalion. A veteran Boer Light Cavalry regiment wipes out a French Colonial Infantry division. Another French Colonial Infantry division, in a feat worthy of Roland, wipes out a veteran Light Cavalry regiment and three regular Commando divisions before going down. Another Colonial Infantry division takes out a regular Commando division before being finished off by another regular Commando division, which then goes on to wipe out a second French Colonial Infantry division and earn a promotion to veteran status. A regular Boer Infantry and a regular Commando division wipes out three Colonial Infantry divisions. Two more Regular Commando divisions wipe out three Colonial Infantry divisions, while the Commando division that wiped out the "Roland" Colonial Infantry division takes out the last two defenders, a Colonial Infantry division and a Colonial Cavalry division, liberating the city!

AmsterdamLiberated.jpg

Our troops are greeted by cheering throngs of Dutch who are not only elated to be reunited with long-lost relatives, but also glad to not be forced to speak French and eat frogs anymore... A number of French Waloons, however, are not happy with the latest turn of events.

All available troops and artillery moves on to hit Brussels. A short barrage with all of General Veers' remaining ready 7.5cm GebK247's land hits on a French Infantry division and a M1897 MG battalion, but that is not enough to warrant an assault, so the army digs in until another barrage can be conducted early next month.

In Britain, the Irish Artillery Brigade sinks a Republic of France Ship (RFS) Jurgenbery (BB) and severely damages the RFS Charles Martel (BB), which is duly sunk by the FRS Namibia (Coastal BB), while the FRS Ft. Lamy sinks the steam transport they were escorting. The British Artillery Division, along with the rest of the Namibia Battle Group, hammers the French troops outside Plymouth, inflicting 75% casualties on all but a Colonial Cavalry regiment. The French Colonial Cavalry, Chasseur Alpin Infantry division, and two French WWI Infantry divisions are wiped out without a single loss on our side, and Britain is once again free of any French Military presence.

In Africa, all remaining French troops outside Bangui are pounded into a pulp and all three Colonial Infantry divisions, both Colonial Cavalry regiments and a Legionaire division are promptly wiped out without any losses on our side, ending the French menace deep inside our African territories.

All African Artillery batteries move in and hit the two Colonial Infantry divisions outside Ghardaia, which are easily wiped out by an elite Light Cavalry regiment. After that short diversion, all African troops and artillery move into the hills outside Algiers... The city is expected to fall sometime early next month!

In Corsica, ships and artillery continue to hammer the defenders, inflicting at least 50% damage on all defenders. Seven Commando divisions perish in bitter fighting that leaves all defenders even more wounded and takes out one of Corsica's few M1897 MG battalions, all remaining troops retreat and wait for reinforcements and more artillery to be landed before launching another assault.

At the Wien Line, howitzers hammer French troops in trenches North of Wien, inflicting 75% casualties on all defenders in one trench and putting the severe hurt on the troops in the next one over.

A Commando division disperses three French Civil Engineer squads outside Prague in order to clear a path for the 1st Light Horse to reinforce the attack on Brussels next month.

In the battle for the trenches, two veteran Commando divisions wipe out two Hotchkiss M1897 MG battalions, while a veteran Commando division wipes out a Colonial Cavalry regiment, a Home Guard regiment and a Colonial Sentry regiment, earning a promotion to elite status and capturing the trenches!

THIRTY THREE Commando divisions move out and quickly grab some unoccupied trench works in the Hills outside Nancy.... Soon Lorraine will hopefully be free of French influences! A regular Boer Infantry division takes out a decimated French WWI Infantry division attempting to flee back to the safety of Nancy.

In Iberia, all three troops menacing Lisbon are bombarded back into the Stone Age, and two Commando divisions wipe out the two invading Colonial Infantry divisions and Colonial Sentry regiment. The Commandos capture a ton of raw materials that they were carrying and promptly returns it to the export market in Lisbon. (Easiest Raw Material capture I've ever had, )

All available Iberian troops and Artillery move into position to hit Marseilles next month! France is going down in FLAMES!

Off the coast of Lisbon, the Gibraltar Artillery and Anatolia Battle Group attack French Shipping ballsy enough to try sneaking through OUR straits.... The FRS Anatolia sinks a Courbet Class BB, and the FRS Stuart sinks an Arabe Class DD, earning a promotion.

Elsewhere, Damascus launches a Coastal BB, the FRS Sweden, Melbourne launches a Coastal BB, ACS State of Auralia, Loerenzo Maarkes launches the Coastal BB, FRS Guinea and Karachi also launches a Coastal BB, FRS India.

Early September, a Balkan STEAM TRANSPORT sinks one of our Steam Transports full of captured French Raw Materials en route from Alexandria to Adalia off the coast of Crete... The FRS Sweden will soon put a stop to THAT kind of silliness!

Elsewhere, France launches another series of massive, but ineffective, assaults on our positions: A French Schneider Tank attacks the Boer Infantry division that killed the French WWI Infantry earlier, driving them out of the Swiss Alps, where they are ambushed and wiped out by a French Infantry division. The French assault on Amsterdam is repelled with no losses on our side, while the French lose a Legionaire division and a Chasseur Alpin WWI division. Outside Marseilles, the French attack manages to kill an entire Boer Infantry division, but they lose a Legionaire Division and an entire Renault Automitrailleuse Division in the process.

The French also land a Cavalry division on Sint Dominiek.

In other news, the Dutch lose Malang on Java to the US! Looks like the Boers will be the true Dutch Republic before too long!

And thus it is, with even more hurt being handed out to France and a major morale boosting victory liberating Amsterdam, that this chapter comes to a close.

ACS State of Auralia, and a Queen of Auralia, I'm doing well for myself here. ;-)

Book III: Operation Frog Paté
Chapter 5: Now Begone or We Shall be Forced to Taunt you a SECOND Time!

During the third week of September 1914, the second phase of "Homeland Liberation" goes into effect with the battle of Brussels.

After General Veers' Artillery hammers most of the defenders back into the Stone Age, the 1st Light Horse charges in and manages to wipe out two Colonial Infantry divisions, but suffers heavy casualties itself. A veteran Commando division wipes out another Colonial Infantry division, but is gunned down by their friends, who also manage to wipe out two regular Commando divisions before retreating deeper into the city.

The tide of the battle turns when three regular Commando divisions overrun two French Regular Infantry divisions and a Hotchkiss M1914 MG battalion with relatively few losses, although the Commandos that took out the MG unit got a bit careless and were wiped out by an elite Colonial Infantry division nearby. That same elite Colonial Infantry unit goes on to wipe out two more regular Commando divisions before getting flanked and mowed down by a regular Renault Gepantser Groepeer, which gets promoted to veteran status. Three more Renault Gepantser Groepeer overrun three M1897 MG battalions and also earn promotions to veteran status.

The final Renault "Geblitsoorlog", consisting of three Gepantser Groepeer led by Veld Marshall Takayama himself, wipes out the last M1897, that Colonial Infantry division that wiped out three Commando divisions earlier and the last Home Guard regiment, freeing Brussels from slimy French control at last!

BrusselsCaptured.jpg

Despite the fact that the French have managed to completely Walloonize Belgium, it is added into the Nederland Provisional State, and the occupation liberation forces immediately begin changing all street and public signs over to Dutch in order to reverse the process....

All available troops and artillery roll into position to take Paris next month... France will soon be wiped off the face of the earth! Meanwhile, the Namibia Battle Group hammers Brest, resulting in the FRS Turner blowing up the Coastal Fortress and the FRS Bloemfontein (the second oldest ship in our fleet!) blowing up Brest's Naval Base. The Cape of Good Hope Battle Group shreds all the French units outside Amsterdam. The invading Chasseur Alpin Infantry division and two Colonial Infantry divisions are wiped out with a single Renault Gepantser Groep being our sole loss in the skirmish and the Nederland Provisional State is now free of French troops.

In the Eastern Theater, our Howitzers in the Czech Republic hammer French troops outside Prague, inflicting heavy casualties. A regular Commando division wipes out two Colonial Infantry divisions and gets promoted to veteran status. A Boer Light Cavalry regiment is wiped out by a Colonial Infantry division, while another Boer Light Cavalry regiment wipes them out, but gets killed by yet another division of Colonial Infantry. The battle then turns solidly to our favor when three more Colonial Infantry divisions, a Legionaire division, a Naval Infantry division and a French Infantry division are wiped out without any further losses... The last line of trenches along the French/Oostenryk border are now cleared out and reserve troops from the Balkans and Scandinavia are shipped in to secure them... The French will pay DEARLY if they want to invade the former Austro-Hungarian territories!

In Southern France, our Iberian troops and artillery hammer Marseilles, inflicting casualties on all but one unit. During the battle, five Commando divisions, EIGHT Renault Gepantser Groepeer and a Boer Light Cavalry regiment are wiped out in exchange for three French Colonial Infantry divisions, five French Regular Infantry divisions, two WWI Infantry divisions, an M1914 MG battalion and a Home Guard regiment. The Home Guards, who were the last troops defending the city, are wiped out by Defense Minister Voorhees' Gepantser Groep, and Marseilles falls!

MarseilleCaptured.jpg

The city, which is the first French home city to be captured, is organized into the Provisional State of Gaul, and France's access to the Mediterranean is effectively cut off.

In Africa, our Field Gun division hammers Algiers, inflicting at least 50% casualties on all defenders. A regular Commando division is lost on the initial assault against a Colonial Infantry division's position, but they would prove to be the only major casualties in this battle: A regular Commando division wipes two Colonial Infantry divisions off the map, earning a promotion to veteran status. A veteran Light Cavalry division wipes out two more Colonial Infantry divisions, likewise earning a promoteion to elite. Two veteran Light Cavalry regiments wipe out four Colonial Infantry divisions, and get promoted to elite status for their contributions to the war effort. Another veteran Light Cavalry regiment wipes out another Colonial Infantry regiment and the Elite Guard Cavalry takes out the last Colonial Infantry division and captures the city!

AlgiersCaptured.jpg

Now all of Algeria is liberated from European Imperialist powers, and France has just lost its last source of Iron, Coal and Oil in Africa!

An elite Boer Light Cavalry regiment wipes out a Colonial Infantry division in the hills between Algiers and Ghardaia, while the rest of our troops and artillery move out to hit Tangiers next month... Soon Africa, and the rest of the world, will be rid of any French presence.

In preparation for that battle, the Anatolia Battle Group hammers Tangiers, with the FRS Ogedei the Mad blasting the coastal fortress into rubble and the FRS Kandahar sending a French Steam Transport to the bottom.

In Iberia, Lisbon launches a Coastal Battleship, the FRS Syria which immediately gets underway and sinks a French Gloire Class Armored Cruiser off the coast of Lisbon, earning a promotion to elite status.

On Corsica, the siege of Bonifacio continues with ships and shore artillery hammering the city. The FRS Vientiane II sinks a Bouclier Class DD in port, while the FRS Ulan Bataar sinks and Arabe Class DD and the FRS Steph sinks a Steam Transport. (Does anyone else think it's entirely too ironic that a ship named after Steph is being used to help destroy France? ) Several defending units take hits, but not enough for us to risk an assault, so more reinforcements land and the rest dig in for the long haul....

Elsewhere, Cork and Scapa launch Coastal Battleships, the FRS Burma and FRS Cornwall, respectively. Adalia launches another Coastal Battleship, the FRS Senegal, which proceeds to blow up the Balkan Naval Academy in Iraklieon. Krugersburg and Bangwela also launch Coastal Battleships, the FRS Morocco and FRS Algeria, respectively.

In the Caribbean, the French Invaders on Sint Dominiek are bombarded into the stone age, and two regular Commando divisions wipe out the entire invasion force, consisting of two Colonial Cavalry regiments, a French Cavalry regiment and a Colonial Sentry regiment, earning promotions.

During the last week of September, Austria and Argentina sign a peace treaty, while the French launch a counter-attack. They empty their ENTIRE chemical weapons inventory on our troops outside Paris prior to hammering them with Railroad Guns and Zeppelins. A French attack on Brussels is driven off with their losses being a Colonial Cavalry regiment and a Legionairre division, while they land more troops in Africa and outside Plymouth...

Elsewhere, a Bandit Light Cavalry regiment attacks our Anti-Bandit Task Force in Siberia and gets killed for their efforts.

Thus it is with Frances demise getting hurried along that this chapter comes to a close.

Great to see this story continue!
Almost unbelievable that it's still out here, after so many months.

Keep up the great work!!!

Well, I like to reward my loyal readers somehow. ;)

And a loyal reader I shall remain until this finishes in your victory.

Can we get a world map showing all your recent successes? And do you plan to do another AoI once you finish?

I second Auralia's request for a world map! :)

Excellent work, Feldmarschall! The legions of the Federal Republic's constituent states continue to storm across the world, bringing the blessings of liberty with them! Soon, the French Empire will join the other great imperial scourge - Britain - in the bowels of Hades!

The fact they can't keep control of their homeland and how French North Africa's epicenter has fallen to the Boer Armies is a good indicator of just how pathetic the French Imperialist military is...

Sorry I haven't updated this thread lately, but life's been kicking my ass lately.....

I DO plan on doing another AoI story, but only when v 4.0 comes out.... After this, I'm planning on getting Medieval on somebody. ;)

I'll try to post an update tonight (which should be the final update for the French war), followed by a map of a French-free world.

Book III: Operation Frog Patè
Chapter 6: "Now Grind to a Fine Paste & Bake for 60 Minutes...."

The second week of October 1914, Dr. Frankenstein announces that his team of crackhead scientists have discovered Colonial Administration Level VIII and are starting on Field Guns Mark III.... Soon we'll have even BIGGER artillery than our 120mm Howitzers.

ColonialAdminVIII.jpg

Elsewhere, Pretoria recruits another Civil Engineer squad, which is sent off to Asia to help improve the infrastructure there. Dublin launches the Coastal BB, FRS Engeland, while Perth launches a Coastal BB, ACS Tasmania and Darwin launches Australia's first Early Destroyer, the FRS Golden Fleece.

In the Mediterranean, Damascus launches the Early DD, FRS Spacer One (RIP my friend :( ), which does its namesake proud by sinking a Balkan Transport in Irakleion, avenging the loss of 4 tons of Raw Materials to it last month.

France's downward spiral gains frightening momentum: In Africa, after a battle that saw only two Boer Light Cavalry regiments lost on our side, but five Colonial Infantry divisions and a Colonial Sentry regiment slaughtered to the man, Tangiers is liberated and joined with the Sovereign Republic of Morocco.

TangierCaptured.jpg

All available African Troops move in to liberate Tunis, the last French Colony in Africa, at the end of October.

The siege of Corsica continues with our gunners not being able to hit the broad side of a barn and more reinforcements landing... That city goes down at the end of the month or ELSE!

At Paris, the Artillery barrage of the century is initiated by General Veers himself pulling the firing lanyard on the first 7.5cm GebK247 mountain gun, after which a merciless rain of steel falls upon the city, shredding its defenders by the job lot... Still, there are so many troops holed up in the city that even with over 50 batteries hammering their positions (and a hit ratio of over 60%), several defending M1914 MG units are still at 50% strength.

The battle gets off to a bad start when M1914 MG battalions wipe out three entire divisions of VETERAN Commandos, but our troops' flagging morale is rallied when a regular Commando division mows down the elite Paris City Guard division and earns a promotion to veteran status. Three regular Commando divisions get into a scrap with a French Schneider CA1 Tank division, resulting in the annihilation of one entire Commando division, one Division suffering 75% casualties before they are able to retreat, but these two buy enough time for the THIRD Commando division to plant "sticky bombs" on the tanks' weak points and blow them to Hell!

The battle again turns sour with an M1914 MG position wiping out FOUR ENTIRE COMMANDO DIVISIONS before a fifth gets close enough to silence them, along with another M1914 MG position with a few well-placed grenades, earning a well-deserved promotion to veteran status! Another M1914 position mows down a regular Commando division and a veteran Boer Light Cavalry regiment before another Light Cavalry regiment takes them out.

At this point the battle finally turns against the Frogs, with a vetran Light Cavalry regiment wiping out TWO ENTIRE M1914 MG BATTALIONS! The Lt. Cav earn a promotion to elite status for their prowess and courage. The French, getting desperate for fresh defenders, sends a Colonial Infantry division to the front, where they get promptly overrun by a Light Cavalry division.

The assault stalls once more, as another line of Colonial Infantry manages to gun down a veteran Light Cavalry regiment, but the momentum picks up again as another Light Cavalry regiment following behind removes the offending Colonial Infantry from the path of our advance into the heart of the city. Another Veteran Light Cavalry regiment takes out an M1914 MG position, along with the hastily recruited Colonial Sentry regiment backing them up, earning a promotion to elite status. In the Northern side of the city, three Colonial Sentry regiments are wiped out in a fast-paced battle with five Renault Gepantser Groepeer, which also claims two of the Renault Groepeer.

During the assault on the final lines of defense in the heart of Paris, a Veteran Commando division wipes out two Colonial Sentry Regiments, earning a promotion to elite, while Veld Marshall Takayama leads his personal Renault Gepantser Groep in the final push, wiping out the last veteran Colonial Sentry regiment and capturing the city!

ParisCaptured.jpg

The French Chemical Weapons Specialists and manufacturers are rounded up and hung from the Arc de Triomphe as an example to all what the consequences of using such foul weapons of mass destruction against the Federaal Republiek van Afrikaa are!

None of the French government officials were found, however, but an Armored Train was spotted hightailing it to the

An airship is spotted flying to the Southeast, and word arrives that the French government has moved to the besieged city of Bordeaux.

The main attack column moves on and hits Brest from both land and sea, with the Namibia and Cape of Good Hope Battle Groups providing Shore Fire Support. The FRS Ndongo sinks a Steam Transport in port, doing its namesake Sovereign republic proud, while the FRS Lüderitz blows up a Nieuport Fighter squadron, earning a promotion to veteran status, and the FRS Bloemfontein blows up an Advanced Airship. All other defenders suffer 75% casualties and the boys go in to finish the job.

In one of the most one-sided battles of this entire war, two veteran Commando divisions wipe out two French WWI Infantry divisions, a Colonial Infantry division, and an M1897 MG battalion without taking a single loss, liberating the city!

BrestCaptured.jpg

The City and surrounding area are organized into the Sovereign Republic of Brittany, while the rest of the assault force pushed on to Nantes.

During the Battle of Nantes, another rousing Artillery Barrage decimates all defending units, with the exception of a Colonial Sentry regiment, which is unceremoniously dispatched by a veteran Commando division, while an elite Renault Gepantser Groep runs and guns down an M1897 MG battalion. A regular Commando division is wiped out by a Colonial Infantry division, who is unable to gloat about it due to the fact that another regular Commando division wipes THEM out and captures the city!

NantesCaptured.jpg

All of Brittany is now liberated from Frogish French control and Nantes, after being re-named to Naoned, is made capitol of the Sovereign Republic of Brittany.

Further to the West, the massive collapse of France's core, along with the arrival of several Howitzer batteries, finally allows us to break the deadlock around Nancy. Even with all defenders taking hits from the artillery barrage, SIX entire Commando divisions are mowed down by M1897 and M1914 MGs like wheat before a combine harvester before one manages to get close enough to lob some grenades into their trenches, blowing up an entire M1914 MG position in the process.

With that gap opened up, three more regular Commando divisions are able to rush in and wipe out the remaining M1914 and two M1897 MG battalions and take the city!

NancyCaptured.jpg

Nancy and the surrounding territory is organized into the Sovereign Republic of Lorraine after being re-named to Nanzig.

In Gascony, the 1st Iberian Army lays into Bordeaux, the current French Capitol, leaving all their heavy defensive units with only 25% of their fighting strength intact. In the initial assault, three regular Commando divisions are wiped out in exchange for a single Colonial Infantry division. An elite Renault Gepantser Groep wipes out an M1914 MG battalion, while another regular Commando division wipes out a Colonial Infantry division before getting gunned down by a WWI Infantry division.

Another regular Commando division makes sure these WWI Infantry don't have enough time to properly savor their victory, before, they too, get wiped out by yet another WWI Infantry division.

A regular Commando division takes out this last WWI Infantry division, while Defense Minister Jason Voorhees personally leads his Renault Gepantser Groep in the final assault that wipes out the last M1897 MG battalion and captures the city!

BordeauxCaptured.jpg

Bordeaux and the surrounding region are established as the Sovereign Basque Republic of Gascony, and the French Goverment, once again, manages to sneak out of town and set up in Limoges.

....Which, unfortunately for them, comes under almost immediate attack.

After our Howitzers inflict 75% casualties on the defenders, our troops roll in once again! A veteran Commando division wipes out an M1914 MG battalion, but is lured into a trap and mowed down by two well-hidden M1897 MG emplacements. Unfortunately for them, another veteran Commando was sneaking around their flank and manages to wipe them both out with minimal casualties, clearing out the last French troops and capturing the city!

LimogesCaptured.jpg

This city, along with Paris and Marseilles is added to the Provisional State of Gual

This time, the French Capitol moves to Tunisia!

In mopping up actions, all French troops between Brest and Paris are wiped out without any major losses on our side, and the same goes for the French troops invading Cornwall.

In Africa, two Light Cavalry regiments and a Commando division are wiped out in similar operations, but the French lose two Colonial Infantry divisions, a Legionaire division and a Colonial Cavalry division.

All available troops and artillery in France Gaul proper move into position to hit Lyons at the end of the month. France is now reduced to three cities, all of which are heavily invested by our troops and artillery... France is not expected to last past the end of October!

Elsewhere, a veteran Light Cavalry regiment in Siberia wipes out a Bandit Light Cavalry regiment and is promoted to elite status.

During the next two weeks, Brazil and Argentina sign a peace treaty, while the Dutch come begging for an alliance against the US. President Kruger's response to that request is something along the lines of, "Are you NUCKING FUTS?!" ...But we do give them 10000 Gilders to help them drag out the war and hopefully grind down the US's over-powered military somewhat (just in case they decide to back-stab us some point down the road).

In military news, what most historians would later call "France's Last Gasp," an all-out attack on Algiers with the last of their African attack forces is driven off. They lose four Colonial Cavalry regiments in exchange for a single Boer Infantry division, and this being Africa, our homeland, there's plenty more where THEY came from!

Thus it is with France on the edge of complete annihilation that this chapter comes to a close.

Book III: Frog Paté
Chapter 7: Francia Delenda Est

The last week of October 1914, the war with France enters its final phase, starting with the final, all-out assault on Bonifacio. During the combined land and sea bombardment, all defending units are damaged, while the FRS Beijing II sinks a Destroyer in port and the FRS Maarepore II sends a Steam Transport to the bottom.

During the frenzied assault, five VETERAN Commando divisions and two Boer Infantry are erased from existence. The French, however, suffer the loss of three WWI Infantry divisions, four M1897 MG battalions, a French Infantry division and a Home Guard regiment as well as control of the city:

BonifacioCaptured.jpg

The last mainland French city, Lyons, comes under attack almost simultaneously, with General Veers giving them one of his trademark "Rain of Death" barrages that leaves the city without a single unit containing more than 25% of its full fighting strength.

The assault begins well with two regular Commandos wiping out two M1914 MG battalions, but one of them is cut down by a Legionaire division. The assault staggers with the loss of another Commando division to a WWI Infantry division, but regains momentum when another regular Commando division surges in and wipes out those WWI Infantry along with a second one. This unit is promoted to veteran status for their prowess and courage under fire.

Three Renault Gepantser Groepeer roll in and take out two French Infantry divisions while only losing one of their own in the process. Two veteran Commando divisions carry the assault home, wiping out a Colonial Infantry division, a Legionaire division, a Home Guard regiment and capturing the city!

Lyons is organized into the provisional state of Gaul, along with Paris, Marseilles, and Limoges.

In Africa, Tunis France's provisional capitol and last city, comes under attack. After an artillery barrage that inflicts 50% or greater casualties on all defenders, our troops roll in. In the fierce, house to house fighting, the French lose seven Colonial Infantry divisions and three Colonial Sentry regiments as well as control of the city.

This final victory against France, however, came at a high cost: A veteran Commando division and two Boer Light Cavalry regiments perished in the battle. One of those Light Cavalry regiments was the Elite Boer Guard Cavalry, the prestigious unit that launched the career of General Sephiroth van Niebelheim and the 1st Light Horse during the Battle of Cape Town.

Once news of the French Third Republic's surrender got around, five Colonial Infantry divisions, a Legionaire division, a Chasseur Alpin WWI Infantry division, two Colonial Cavalry regiments, a City Guard Division, an M1897 MG Battalion and a Schneider CA1 Tank Division offer their surrender to the nearest cities and are allowed to depart peacefully to their homes after surrendering their weapons and taking an oath to never again take up arms against the Afrikaa Federaal Republiek.

What's left of the French Navy, is too proud to surrender and turns to piracy, and is wiped out in a relatively short time by the Boer Federal Navy, Kaiserliche Marine and US Navy. Thus France takes it place in History's trashcan along with Great Britain, and several other colonial powers.

Elsewhere, an elite Boer Light Cavalry regiment wipes out another Bandit Light Cavalry regiment in Siberia. The Australlian Commonwealth government buildings in Canberra recruit a Civil Engineer team, which is sent to New Guinea to clean up a huge pile of pollution.

Adalia launches another Coastal Battheship, the FRS Niger, which joins the "party" off the coast of Crete. This week's naval bombardment of Iraklieon sees the FRS Sweden sinking another Balkan Steam Transport in the harbor.

Elsewhere, Mogadishu launches a Coastal Battleship, the FRS Nigeria and Sydney launches a Coastal BB, the ACS Capitol Territory

During the first week of November, La Plata comes asking for an alliance against New Granada, which tempting as it is, would require us to break our Right of Passage agreement and ruin our, thus far, stellar international reputation, so we decline and give them 10,000 Gilders instead... Perhaps we MAY attack New Granada soon, both to gain vital Iron and Coal (and an expanded power base in South America) as well as finally unify ALL of Madagascar under our control, but today will not be it.

So it is, with France wiped off the map and Operation Frog Paté a rousing success that this chapter comes to a close.

....And here's the long-awaited world map:
