The Underdogs

Colombian Workers undertook the construction of the first Jungle preserver in our beloved Motherland. Or should I say Fatherland, like they say it in German or Russian? Who knows Spanish here,?

P.S. Fixed issue with names, Knoedel should get his file with no problems now!

The Sino-Venezuelan war has raged too long and my people can´t stand it any longer. It appears that we have no choice but to bow to whatever our former masters demand for peace. I don´t want to think about the draconian measures the Chinese will take to punish us for our betrayal, but however ridiculously high the price may be, we are ready to pay it! And thus, negotiations begin:

...

That actually sounds pretty reasonable, I think we can live with that. :everythingwentbetterthanexpected:

And thus the war ended as sudden as it had began. Now the Venezuelan people has to find their new place in the world. Preparations have already begun to ensure us access to precious copper to finally connect us to the Internet.

preparations to get access to copper, this is how it is called in Venezuela?!
well, we call it blackmail.

Kazakh government was really surprised to receive "give us copper or we will nuke you because we are independent now" request.

We suggest to whoever is shielding Venezuelan cities from nukes to follow common sense and stop doing so. We would like to point out that each and every fellow underdog can become subject of such threat.

BTW, during next night yet another terrorist attack destroyed only Kazakh source of copper. By coincidence, the mine is out of BFC of any our city, so rebuilding it is not of high priority. Those damn terrorists, what can you say

btw, I could not upload turn to pbemtracker for some reason. sent on via email.

Error message:
Woa... Underdogs_AD-2010-December_to_Nouri?!
It looks like you are trying to upload a file for the wrong game.
Make sure the file is for Underdogs

It might be me putting the wrong name...

A great merchant has been born in Baghdad along with the completion of a Levee along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers... now to determine whether the great merchant will go on a trip or just settle in the city...

Some people prefer the term 'Agressive Negotiations'.

You left us no other choice, we already offered to pay you every price you wanted, but you declined anyway. The only other country we could get Copper from would be Iraq, and we are not suicidal enough yet to mess with America if they are as stubborn as you are.

Nonsense, at least Brazil and USA are too big of a threat to us to blackmail their vassals, so I don't see why Columbia should give up their lucrative deal with us. We now have made peace with China established several Defensive Pacts anyway, so their troops in our territory are of limited use for now. That is, unless we are forced to declare war on someone else...

 Oh my, what a completely believable and unfortunate coincidence! I don't blame you, really, it could have happened to any of us. Just imagine, you wake up one morning, accidentally stumble into your Bureau, and accidentally fall over your desk in such a way that, accidentally, your finger lands on a certain big red button. Sounds completely realistic to me. ;)

Btw about the uploading problem, you have to manually complete the name if it contains Underscores.

To celebrate Christmas pious Santos (what a fitting last name!) met with Barack Obama, gifted him some pesos and convinced that Free Religion is not the most flexible idea. Organized Religion helps to build stuff faster and elevates relations with Colombia to the Friendly level. Which may come handy one day, you know...

Business Minded Colombia invites Iraqi Merchant to rent Port of Panama for 1 turn. This way airlifting him to the Western Hemisphere and profitable overseas (different continent) trade venues like New York or Rio can be done in shortest of terms. We don't even want anything upfront, but, naturally expect a rental gratuity of 18% from the amount of final trade deal, during some future turn when that deal is completed :gold::deal:

I appreciate the offer, but I do have a transport, so it will only be 10 turns (now 9) for my Great Iraqi Merchant to make it to New York City! 18% was too hefty of a price...

Of course it will go undefended... but in this peaceful world we live in, or at least I live in, under the protection of the mighty USA, I'm not too worried, I doubt a transport and great merchant is worth the military response from my overlord! :D

Kokturk can you please tell me how to spell the name of Iraqi leader according to the save you generate. I was pretty sure I had a right name for him...

Colombia used her Great Engineer to construct half of the Modern Factory. In the world of 5-6 city civs completing Internet 2-city civs can only rely on their superior economy.

It seems either nobody gets my in-game messages or everyone ignores them.

Regardless, Iraq, what do you want for Copper?
Columbia, what do you want to stop trading with the vile Peruvian?
Also, Barrack Obama went into WHEOOHRN mode, so I guess everyone should better duck for cover.

save file name is "Underdogs_AD-2011-January_to_Nouri_al-Maliki"
However, when I choose file in pbemtracker the "to" field is empty and "subject" field contains following: "Underdogs_AD-2011-January_to_Nouri - Maliki.CivBeyondSwordSave al"
If I manually change this to how it should be it gives an error message

From what you are saying I understand that quantity of cities is more important then quality in this game. So, what civ do you think was better placed to win at 1.1.2010? Congo?

Few things affect the score -- land, population, techs and Wonders (both World and National). Before Internet African civs were 1 tech bellow us, that's why Venezuela was leading. You've lost 5 points by just letting your Tashkent starve -- there was an elaborate way to trade for resources and save your population, by the way ;)

There is a tricky thing about messages -- it is always better to hit ENter and make sure you have your message in the central box before offering anything. Offering a trade with a message in type-in line will not deliver any message at all.

The longer it will take our closest Underdog to develop Internet the better -- so we cannot discuss anything about it, sorry. Now that your are independent the simplest thing would be just to take it what you want with a brute force ;)

This doesn't sound too bad actually...

Cancel your Copper deal with Peru or I nuke you.
How does that sound?

Lol, you must be bluffing, right? Are you even able to produce anything but Workers? Our Brazil will take care of you in two turns. Don't even dare!

Brazil isn't even a nuclear power. All I need is a Great Engineer, which I will spawn in about three turns, to rush a Nuclear Weapons facility and if I don't find Copper on my office desk by then I will nuke you, Kahzakstan and Brazil, and nobody can do anything about it, simple as.

I am glad to have such an ambitious neighbor next to me :) This will keep things interesting. But .. don't say cat unless you have it in your sack ( I am not sure what would be the Austrian equivalent of that ). So many things could go wrong, amigo :mischief:
