The wait is killing me

I'm living in Germany and also have to wait until September 24th. That will be a hard week.

Look at it this way. This is our last weekend without Civ 5.

My thing to complain about (here is as good as anywhere, since the wife don't care):

I've been off work sick this week. Why - oh why! - couldn't I have gotten sick next week so I could play the demo - or even better - the week after so I could be playing the full version while I'm skulking around the house in my bathrobe sneezing.

Why?

Me too. Why do we have to wait a further 3 days?

I can understand it if it was to reduce pressure on Steam's servers, but since I've already downloaded the bloody thing, why can't I play it on the same day as you chaps on the other side of the pond?

Or even better, play it now? I promise not to tell.

It didnt receive a single positive review, why buy it :p

It's actually not so bad. Definitely unfinished, and patches have come out quickly, but it certainly has plenty of potential. It'll be a good game in a year or so. Unfortunately, that is pretty normal for Stardock games. GalCiv2 when it came out wasn't anything close to what it turned into eventually. :)

I have to wait until the 24th, too. Wish we could all play on the 21st. But hey, in the larger picture, three days mean little!

My impression is that GalCiv 1&2 were at least finished when they came out. Every review seems to say that Elemental has great potential but it is going to take months of work before it reaches a state of being "good." Turns out Civ V would be the time filler till Elemental is finished.

Try Sins of a Solar Empire.That's a great game:goodjob:

Septemberfest? Sounds good! :D

(I used to live in a city in Ontario that celebrated oktoberfest. Good times.)

New Berlin/ Kitchener or whatever it's called? My brother lives in Ottawa and has been a few times. Not as good as the real thing mind.

True. Demigod aside, Elemental is probably the worst Stardock release. I've had hours of fun with it already, but there is no denying that it plays much like an alpha version of a game that will be really great, in a year. The AI is non-existent, the balance is totally off, and MP is still disabled. The patches did fix any technical issues I had with the game, though, and for some reason I still find it fun to play. It's a shame that the negative reviews (they are accurate for the release version, and for the most part even for the current version) will stay around even when the game will have improved.

Civ5 is the release I look(ed) forward to the most this year, though, so it's fine. By the time I surface from the Civ5 addiction, Elemental will be in better shape. :)

Unfortunately I have to work this weekend so no Oktoberfest for me. At least I get Civ V a few days early. I plan on spending my entire Tuesday playing.

Edit:

Demigod was a joint effort with Gas Powered Games, GPG developed the game while Stardock did the net coding. A good game from what I understand just the multiplayer was messed up. Too bad that was what it was built around.

I'm getting some strippers, coke and a bounce house tonight. By the time I'm released from jail, Civ 5 will be available.

I know on when the yanks get it in, i'll be watching as many 'lets play' videos on youtube of it as i can. That should hold me over till i get my hands on a copy.

Ugh... I tried Elemental: War of Magic in order to help me pass the time. What a mistake THAT was. OMG has anyone else played that junk Stardock tried to pass off as a 'worthy rival to Civilizations'? Bleh... I'd rather keep playing CivIV

Stardock is overrated. Bless their hearts they try to put out good games, but they're really not that great.

It's simply torturous.

Then on top of that, I won't really get the opportunity to sit down and play until nearly 9:30 that night (stuck in Organic Chemistry until 8 PM :(). And what's even worse is that I won't be able to even play at that point, because I have an Animal Physiology exam the following morning at 9:15! So really I'm looking forward to Wednesday afternoon when I finally get to sit down and play for 8 hours straight. :p

Cmon... Cmoon...!
(south park, cartman waiting from nintendo wii)

Ha I watched this episode the other night and I was thinking, hmm If I freeze myself I can wake up and play Civ 5.

Is it Tuesday yet?

Well at least it's Friday now and the weekend will fly by as usual.
