Bright colors- I can darken the shirts a bit if you like. I'm guessing that's what you meant.

Pointy boots- Don't even worry about it. If you look at the civ-scaled versions, you can't even tell they're pointy. :p back at ya :)

As far as cut, making things baggier or more trim, that's a bit more complicated. I can't really change the shape of the clothes, because they're a part of the figure in this case (versus attached to a human figure). I can try and shrink or expand some sections, but not very much because that might distort it a bit. I'll see what I can do.

Don't worry too much at the baggy look. Once they are scaled down, you won't be able to tell anyway.

It amazes me that anyone can tell that the cloth is cotton or wool at that scale... Astounding eyesight :p

OK, here are the units that I'll be putting together for the Aiel pack:

1. Stone Dogs (Shae'en M'taal)
2. Red Shields (Aethan Dor)
3. Water Seekers (Duahde Mahdi'in)
4. Maidens of the Spear (Far Dareis Mai)

- The Stone Dogs will operate mainly with their spears and shields as a defensive type unit to signify their vow to never retreat.
- For the Red Shields, I envision something of a mix between martial arts and riot control style fighting using their shield, belt knife, plus hands/feet. My reasoning for this is, since they function as the police among the aiel, I want them to have a close range style attack based around control and necessity.
- The Water Seekers will function as the bowman/archer unit, with maybe a non-bow attack added into the sequence.
- The Maidens of the Spear will also operate mainly with their spears but will have a more aggressive/nimble style of fighting than the Stone Dogs.

I also plan to alter the looks of each unit by where they position their weapons. Some will have bows & quiver on their back, others will have spears and shield on their back with the quiver at the waiste and bow in hand, etc.

I could also put together a Wise One unit from the Maiden model, but I'm not exactly sure how to use it.

Thoughts? Reactions?

Also, if you haven't checked out this site yet, do it.

It has some awesome concept art for ALL sorts of units. I imagine I'll base quite a few of the units around these sketches when I get done with the Aiel.

EDIT: (and Kinboat, since you've been checking into the thread, feel free to make as many models from them as you like. :D )

AND... I have found the perfect weapon for Mat, for when I make a unit for him down the line.

MAN! So many units to make. :)

I'll just keep posting until I get a reaction out of someone. ;) jk.

OK, here's a preview of the 4 different Aiel units.
From left to right they are:

Maiden of the Spear, Red Shield, Stone Dog, and Water Seeker.

I think the units are amazing. When you finish that Maiden, I want to use her in my mod. About the Wise Ones, you could make her a brown skirt and shoot fireballs.

I could make a gai'shain (worker) unit from the aiel model by making all of his clothing white, but if I do, it probably won't be released in this pack.

As for the Wise Ones, that could work. I have a skirt that I could probably use. But my memory fails me, are the Wise Ones allowed to participate in battles? :hmm:

And thanks TJ. I'm really looking forward to creating these animations. I think I have some pretty good ideas on what I'll do with each of them. All of them will attack out of different fortified stances too, to add a little more diversity to their look. I'll do my best to finish them up this week, but I'm not sure that'll happen. Then the problem is, I'll be out of town all of next week so I won't be able to work on them then. :( I hate to delay, but at the same time I'm also really looking forward to getting away for a while.

I'm not sure if they are supposed to, but they do at times. Maybe they could be given a high defense rate and the fireball as that. With maybe a 1 attack.

Have a nice trip. Sometimes I feel like a week off is refreshing and then I work twice as fast when I return.

The cadin'sor is more of a "mottled browns and grays" thing than anything else. What you have is fine on civ-scale, I think, except for the boots. Black boots? Black? I think they were always described as brown specifically.

Not a big deal, I can change that in 2 seconds. :) I hadn't touched the colors at all yet. Those are just the original colors of the model. The reason I was posting these previews was to get suggestions for color changes and the like... that and to display the weapon systems. I was also thinking of changing the shirt to more of a regular brown, but with the shields, spears, bows, and quivers all in brown, I was afraid it'll all blur. Good for camo in the Waste, Bad for Civ units. :)

OK, I've changed the boots to brown. I'll probably also alter the color of the arrows in the quiver, they seem a bit too bright a red.

If there are no other critiques (color, weapon placement, fighting styles listed above, etc.), then I'll get started on animating them later on today. :)

Oh, Oh, Oh... Wait... Can you give one of them an Uzi? It's the perfect weapon to wipe out any intruders in the desert ;)

OK, here you go.
I've switched the belt knife's position to the side of the hip for each of the figures. It was causing nothing but headaches with all kinds of motions... kept stabbing him/herself in the leg with it. So now it's in a sword position, but don't worry with its size it won't be confused.

Also, I've completed half of the animations for the Maiden. :D I'm very happy with what I've got so far, and hopefully I can finish her up tommorrow so I can get working on the boys. It'll be close, whether or not I can get them all done and posted this week. But of course I'm not going to rush anything. I'd rather have it sit on my computer for a week than put out anything of inferior quality.

OK, I'd really like some feedback on this one. I've been working on a very unique attack for the Maiden. I didn't want it to be a normal spear attack, so I've gone in a completely different direction. I wanted to showcase their athletic abilities and their agility. So this is what I've got so far. Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks :)

Are these going to be able to enslave? If so, is the enslaved unit going to wear white?
And how do you make an enslaved unit wear white for only a year and a day? Of course the Shaido Aiel changed that traditon....

I've wondered about Gai'shain too. Yes, they'll be able to enslave, but the problem I run across with it is they will make EVERYONE gai'shain and not just Aiel as is proper for the series. I haven't figured that one out. The only for a year and a day part... that's easy... have the game span months instead of years.;)

And KB, it just that they say they wear heavy wool, and aiel wear light cotton. And you're right, I was going off the large model more then the scaled down version.;)
