CamJH:
The attack is good. But consider the animations of the units that it will likely attack. You don't want the maiden jumping on top of or completely over the attacking unit. Keep this attack and have a more normal one as a backup. Go with the one that is best after some in game testing against other units.... So far what you've done is better than anything I could do for humanoid based units. Give me a Borg ship any day
BTW on the lancer/cavalry list on the previous page, the one with the lion and the colors of white and red (#5 I think) must be used for Andor. Not that I like the design, but that in the story Rand chooses a sword wrap with those colors. I don't remember whether it was white on red or red on white. If it's the opposite maybe we could reverse the colors. IF it's needed I could give it a go for you.....

As far as everyone being turned into Gai'shain, didn't the Shaido make wetlanders into permanent Gai'shain?
I was a bit worried about that too (having the maiden leaping too far), but I think it'll be allright. When I did the kick animation for the Shaolin Monk unit, he took a shuffle step forward before the kick... which is about the same distance as the maidens jump if I figured correctly. Of course I'll do some in-game testing before releasing it to make sure everything works as it should. If it needs changing, then back to the drawing board.
And as far as progress goes, I've finished all the animations today except for the 2nd attack. So I'll either finish it up tonight if I have time or first thing tommorrow. I've also got just about all the animations planned out (in my head ) for the other Aiel units, so hopefully I'll be able to crank those out.
And thanks for the suggestion on the knight unit. I think that's the one I designated for Andor, but I'll have to double check to make sure.
I've done some in-game testing with the Maiden and couldn't be happier. Either I figured it out perfectly or I got really lucky (more likely ), but the leaping attack has her landing directly in front of the enemy... after stabbing him in the head of course.
I'll post an extended preview later on today with more of her animations, but for now I've got to get some work done. Stupid work always getting in the way.
Cam, Wise Ones usually don't do anything in battle. Tradationally they should be able to walk across a battle field sipping tea and not even get bumped. But they aren't FORBIDDEN from combat, as was shown in one of the books.
I love the shield tap on the fidget! So Aiel. I'm going to add her to the BIQ this weekend me thinks. You're getting really good at this brother. You should ask Fraxis if you could get in on Civ4.
Thanks Alerum.
I wanted to do a shield tap for the victory too, like they did in one of the books whenever someone scored a point for a witty comeback, but I thought that would be too repetitive. I'll probably do a shield tap for the Stone Dogs too since they were the other main group involved in that scene, but then do something else for the remaining two Aielmen units.
OK, so SHOULD I make a Wise One unit? If yeah, then I'll do it right after I finish with the Aielmen. I could give her the same attack effects as the Asha'man unit, but I'd give her different motions to produce the weaves. I'm leaving tommorrow and won't be able to touch my desktop for a week, but I'll still be able to check in and post. So let me know.
Yeah, go ahead and make a wise one. There's a really good picture in the big Book that shows Aviendhia, I think, in Wise One garb. Think it's a pretty good photo, but needs more jewlery.
Oh I had an idea for the Rand character too. Have him Upgrade from Farmboy, to Dragon Reborn Hopeful, to Dragon Reborn, to Car'a'carn, and maybe even into Kinslayer...
Kinda like a unit pack, but instead the same unit passes through different wardrobes, fighting methods, etc. Starting off a farmboy with a sword, moving up through cadin'sor, to nobility style clothing...
Correct. Like one of them we'll make sure to put that damn Red Coat on him, and in another have the Dragons marks on his arm as visiable as possible....
OK, back from vacation, and time to get back to work. I'll do my best to wrap up the Aielmen this week... but don't mark the calendar just yet.
When those are taken care of, I'll most likely get crackin on these: Domani, Guardian of the Gate (Amadicia), Kandori, & Legion of the Wall (Ghealdan)
If I take care of these, then that'll just about wrap up the Randland civs. There'll still be the Companions for Illian, and the King's Life Guard and Panarch's Legion for Tarabon, but we'll deal with those later. Actually, UtahJazz7's "Mounted Rohirrim" unit could be a possible fit for a Companion unit. I'll see what you guys think before I slot it in.
But that's it for now.
The images above are shrunken down versions of pictures I found on this website: http://www.roaringstudios.com/ns. There's some other good concept art at the site if you'd like to check it out.
Love the Red Shield!! The shield bash is great. I'm looking forward to this mod, as is my fiance. She got me into the books and is a huge fan of the series, and of Civ as well, since I got her into it last year.
