I dont see anything wrong with what you guys are doing, but some people and/or thier loved ones were harmed greatly by the Nazis.
There are laws in German nations to this day prohibiting the display of the hakenkruez (swatstika) and other Nazi symbols.
Just continue to respect the feelings of others, and their point of view.
I agree with your strong point for respect of others- however I insist that this respect should also be mutual (as unfortunately is eversince the Western POLITICAL laws of post 1945 pretty much onesided) Mind you, I am far from being or intending ever becomming a Nazi

But I used to study history and politics and do have a genuine interest in developments throughout history. The problem is that my efforts and enthusiasm have very often be soured by those "common people". And they use their archaic dictatorial point of view not to silence, but to overwhelm me with 'noise' because they don't want to see anybody revealing the past- the truth must hurt. And they are backed by the (in my case German) state in its struggle to impose its very own power. The German 'constitution ratified during the occupation has still not been reviewed as promised on its VERY first page (it is not even called "constitution" but "basic rights"), even 57 years after WWII- the peace treaty with the Soviet Union was not signed until 1989, mere months before the collaps of the USSR... Things are not dealt with in Germany, in the hope that by not raising the issue it will dissapear under an eternal veil of dusty ambiguity.
There are a few things that historians have been able to dig out of the "Nazi grave" that could shake the world in which we all live in to the extend that some governments might need to throw in the towel (see the case of Nazi Gold traded with the USA in wartime via Swiss transactors, etc- how very quickly this issue disappeared from the TV screens). I cannot allow people's feelings to interphere with the work of historians uncovering the truth- it may not be a nice thing, but what is nice about the world we live in, anyway- specially if humble civ unit creators are victims of witchhunts

???
BTW- the Hakenkreuz is NOT a NAZI SYMBOL and should not be hijacked by their (NSDAP) poison forever... we won't solve the problems it has created by shutting our eyes before the problems- they will remain and will constantly remind us whenever we make puny tries to forget them- that's why I call it hypocrecy. It is not profesional, not logical, not intuitive, not scientific, obviously human to run away from bothersome issues and stick our heads in the sand. In over 60 cultures around the globe the Swastica appears- and it has always been a "good" symbol. Our own Western propaganda nowadays keeps up the Nazi poison for its own convenience and legitimisation of acting preemptively against alledged evil regimes (hi Cuba, hello Soviet Union, Welcome N. Korea, how R you Mr. Hussein ???..... etc, etc etc)
This is the reason I am doing my Masters- I want to write my ressearch, publish it in shape of a book and enlighten those that preferr feeling induced idle ignorance over genuine useful knowledge. And the best time for this is NOW as long as there are still people alive that lived at the time of the events !!! Our government forbids symbols but doesnt remove the problems- just hides them conveniently- the damage in peoples heads remains, as do the social problems and lack in educational stands.
As far as people let me walk down my road in peace I will respect them- I will not however be bound by an infant refusing to take its fingers out of its ears so as not to hear me, while he tries to make me fall! I don't do it to disrespect their feelings or memories but for myself and those who chose to listen- if my research is not their cup of tea- hey I didn't invite them to look over my shoulder and comment- go have cold coffee I say.
Had to get that from my chest

hope it doesnt sound too harsh
