Hi folks ! Well here I am, as I announced it recently, showing my tryings as a unit-maker, and asking for your comments. I've just posted my 100th comment and I think it is time to go in public and get some critics on my work...
I use Daz, as you can see in my sig, and I just can't focus on one unit at a time, as you will see it later. I still don't know which one is gonna be my first unit ever, maybe some of you would tell me :)
My idea is to build a bunch of very simple and generic units that many of you could use to add some diversity in your mods. Last words : I only use paperdoll props and some free stuff from the net that I modify if I need to, I can't create them. Here they come :

EDIT: changed attachements to jpegs

Some crossbow for a warhammer-empire unit-line that I am planning for myself (not linked to the WH-team, until they like it ;) ), all based on Kinboat's Landskneckt

Another WH-unit that could be used for any medieval mod. It will come with worker animations (build, irrigate,...)

I've replaced the BMP files with JPegs, so it will be easier for everybody to see them and make comments. I will soon be posting some more units previews, especially the one inspired by my avatar, an empire engineer sharpshooter with or without his little fella (I still don't have a model for it)

Animated previews are coming as soon as I got time. I also would like to understand how to put them directly in the thread so that you can see them without clicking on a link openning a new window. That's another question, could make another thread...

Why not use Jpg and a thumbnail preview?
See how I did the images in the truespace tutorial.
BMPs are huge and slow.
Several of your models lack civ color. This is the color that lets you see which tribe a unit belongs to.
Have you gotten far enough in DS to start animating yet?

I suggest a simpler pitchfork. That one is too fine (thin) and will wash out at civ scale.
If you need I can model it for you. But I would leave it up to you to size it and so on, as I am a bit busy with lots of semifinished stuff of my own. :)

@Virote Considon : from Daz website I think... can't remember. I've been collecting stuff everywhere for weeks and now it's all mixed-up on my HD ;)
@Bjornlo : I'll try it. I agree with you on the BMPs. I personnaly don't need the civ-color stuff, and in fact I don't know how to do it. :mischief: These previews come directly from Daz Studio and I thought I could put civ color later, because right now I've focused on animation and haven't found out how to change colors. Maybe with PEdit ? So yes I've started animating, it's really easy, all click-and-drag and such. But the only anims I could post here would be renderings directly from Daz, which are huge and... not done yet

Very promising! Hey... once you got unitmaking in DAZ/Studio downpat, maybe you can show me a trick or two. I am interested in making "some" human units myself. (Like you, I can't help but start too many things at the same time...)

Looks good so far.:) I'm with beboy in that I especially like the crossbowman. I hope you progress well as you get into the animations.:goodjob:

I think it's a good start, and if the end result is good I'd use it. :goodjob: However, I haven't seen any animations yet. ;)
I would want civ colour, I think it would be a waste to make the unit without. And if we add it to WH we'd give it to more than one civ. If nothing else you could always make one of the legs civ coloured.
I think we could help with making the palette, if that's a problem. ;)
I'm not so sure about the helmet, but I guess it's ok.

BTW, it's much better IMO if you upload the previews (saved as jpg) and link to them with tags.

I prefer the right one of Bjornlo's pitchforks.

Wow! These previews make me so happy... I could find a use for all of those, and for civ-color, you've already got some! The blue stripes on the crossbowman's sleves, or the green hood on the peasant. And I think many mods could use these! EFZI could probably use that peasant, and Arnia would love to have that faun, :).

I fear they are too thin to make really good civ colour. I suspect there will be fringe effects, that it will flow into the white.

My favorite is the peasant: Anybodee likee somee seeriuss a**forking?
