themanuneed units previews

Yes, it does mean armor. And you can have clothes under the armor. Just use two props, one armor prop and one shirt prop.

And maybe this thread can go back to themanuneed's units soon...

We are talking about the units.

The first swordsman is just asking to get stabbed in the heart or the lungs, the armor only covers the stomach (I didn`t mean nekkid when I said bare-chested!). R8XFT (was that his nick? ) fixed it on his Trojan spearman, but I don`t think he released the "patched" prop.

Yes, yes it was. R8XFT. Or Robbo.

I've never seen armors like the "corset" that first guy has ...
And is that a roman gladius ?

I love the landsknechts crossbowman :goodjob: and the peasant. (although the pitchfork has 4 spikes ... for some reason i find that VERY strange :crazyeye:)

:mischief: might be... I thought he could be some Germanic swordman following Arminius... he looks like those you can see in Rise of nations
As for the "corset", it's been made by Utahjazz and can be foud here

with this commentary "This is the body armor for my Sherdan Swordsman", don't know much about it since I've never seen his "Sherdan Swordsman"

I think you should make that warrior without the "Michelin Man Armor", just barechested. That will be more to the spirit of a true warrior. To my knowledge, the early Germanic warriors did go barechested, at least during the summer. Just food for thought... I agree that the armor looks a little funny and out of place without a tunic or a shirt underneath it.

Agreed -- rigid metal against bare skin in combat would be terrribly uncomfortable, and historically unrealistic.

BTW -- I just caught sight of this thread, and your units look very promising. :goodjob:

@themanuneed
Can you make exactly the same unit like this one but with this shield! please!

Serbia!!!!!!!

@Partizanac: I can't build my own props, I don't know how to. So I can only use items that people give me or those I collect on the net. If you can send me a prop or a link to it, then I can use it ;)
@Oz: the armor is not supposed to be made of metal but leather (it is brown), which was the material for poor soldiers - but I'm not fighting for this one, I'd probably remove it.

Ah -- my apologies; but Stormrage is correct: "cuirass" does indeed refer to metal armor (check out the Wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuirass). Interesting note: on that page, the photo used is of Lamellar (modern plastic used for historical reenactments etc.) -- and it's brown.

There's also no reason why you shouldn't have a lower-ranking foot soldier wearing a leather surcoat.

C'est la guerre.

Oz

Think Pamela Anderson. Think cleavage (sp?). That armor protects only his stomach, not his chest. The whole leather-metal-shirt-undershirt thing is totally unimportant.
That's what i said. (sorta)
A dude corset.

:Another Wiki for you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamellae_%28materials%29 Lamellar doesn't seem to be specifically plastic, or did I miss something ?

Technically, you've confused Lamellae with Lamellar, although the Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamellar_armour) does indeed indicate that it can be leather, lacquered material, etc. -- which contradicts other sources I've seen :hmm: IMHO, at this point I'd say it probably, realistically, indicates more than just metal as a material :hammer2:

C'est la etcetera,

If Wikipedia contradicts other sources, Wikipedia is probably wrong. In fact, even if it doesn't contradict other sources, it's probably wrong anyway.

 I felt almost sacriligeous going there (I know one of the Grand High Keepers Of The Mighty Repository Of Wikis) but I confess I do agree.
