It's simply this; this is a time of change, uncertainty and volatility - and there's a lot of soft-hearted, simple-minded people out there that are 'having trouble'.

Ironic, that - if you actually do have faith (as they claim/cling to), then nothing shakes your peace, and you can continue on every day without acting silly, hysterical and insecure.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on in the minds of most Americans today, but they need to get a grip. This whole country has just gotten way too soft, and peoples' skin has gotten incredibly thin... and there's plenty of 'special interest groups' (the real BANE of our country) that are quick to take advantage.

I don't get it. All I see is a bunch of stupidy, and hysteria. Why can't people go about their own business...

so you refer silly and hysterical to people which see behind every corner a terrorist? Or people that are concerned about personal freedom and slipping into a 1984 like country ?

It might be nice to have faith and forget everything that happens in your environemnt, but the world is full with people not concerned about anything and then waking up in a fascist country or civil war (take Serbia, Ukraine, White Russia, Tschetschenia, Germany before WW2, to name just a few) and asking themselves how this could have happened and why they didn´t see it coming

Oh, I see things coming (though it's not so extreme as in the historical examples you cite, however I do monitor things closely).

My main point was that in this time of uncertainty, I'm not shaking in my boots so much as most, it would seem. "Long-term, the fundamentals are still sound".
