They're All Barbarians.

@cripp7. Are you intending to play a few more turns?

cripp7 :bump:

I reckon if no new post in next 24 hours then it'll be time to move on.

Maybe I've turned into a grumpy old man :old:.

i'll take over if need be.

will go ahead and take back that city. when in doubt, too, i'm always in favor of more wars, and unless the land we settle is equal to the land Asoka is settling and working, then i think the only option is war, even if on a limited scope.

maybe squeeze out a spy and check things out down there, see what's happening in his cities??

Sams appear to be the order of the day, along with researching lit for HE. I'm also wondering about building some courthouses and allocating spy specs to bump up our eps against Asoka.

+1. Make sure to start the HE in Nara!

OT: was out of town without net since wednesday, I should be able to post regularly again now.

Cheers

i moved some workers to the north to get started up there. during my set, though, qin vassalized to julius so i hesitated about a minute or so before i attacked. my rationale: i figger he'll have to manuver thru all those other civs, so i don't think we'll see any units, and we'll soon have LBs to protect us anyway.

took back the city with a terrible loss of a sam. I also moved a few more units to the south, getting ready to start the attack on India in SE asia. i built a couple of units to act as garrison as we're attacking, but we'll need to watch it at first i think.

i also took off some of the infinite queue builds that were on, and took our GM off sleep. i searched (cursorily) for a note about what he's for, didn't find one and just hit enter each turn.

lastly, a lesson learned:

and, actually lastly, i went 100% gold for now, but have research set for Eng.

Not totally convinced by HE in Satsuma, Nara might be a better option.

Looks like time to test the sam+cat>LB theorem.

HE in satsuma was a mistake!! didn't even realize it until you mentioned it!! as rolo(?) said, it shud be in nara...

also, we have but one settler in the west ready to civilize (or civilise for the rest of the world) SE asia, but we shud have more.

by the by, i think those sams having the 2-3 first strike chance will be what really takes out the LBs, esp if they're weakened first by a cat or two. it doesn't seem to me that we'll need to suicide many of them if we're careful.

I think given the 2 cities we have there already one more city should be enough, maybe on the dye midway between the existing indian cities.

I think it's still worth it to do the HE in Nara considering the amount of troops we are likely to build till the end game. Satsuma (not sure of the name, the current city I mean) won't cut it in term of production. even fully workshopped (too many water tiles really).

Indeed, and the build time is also quite small in Nara ( 6-7 turns ). An there is always failgold...

Anyway, I'll play tonight. I think there is little to discuss: smash Indian SE Asia atleast. I would had liked that the previous player would had let me with a bigger navy , though ...

I have faith in the warmonger extraordinaire despite the shortage of boaty things.

Ok, sorry for the mess up ...

I played half of the set without noticing that I misclicked in t0 and choosed Nat Epic instead of heroic Epic in Nara :wallbash: So, I'm forced to replay the whole set

Anyway, given the spoilerish part of my set, I'm not sure that warring India is a good idea ...
Spoiler telling some spoilerish stuff :p :
Ok, I dowed India in t2 of my set ... our troops are sufficient for a first attack, but India basically bribes all of Europe to DOW us. That in itself is not so bad as that, but we get massive unhappiness from warring brothers in faith.

BTW we are not prepared for a war with India proper. Most of the cities in India proper have castles and you know what that means in terms of bombarding times. Using spies is also dificult with so little EP/turn produced by us ... and we don't have the naval force to pick the island cities.

So, what do we do here? Grab the Indian cities in SE Asia and peace out ? That is perfectly attainable, but more than that will require spies, cannons or far more units than the ones we have in hand.
