Anybody know what the battle of Hemmingstedt, 1500, was about?

Dithmarschen (no English TH, h is voiceless after t in German), the area from the Elbe to the Eider in western Holstein, was belonging to Bremen in 1500 but was much more a Farmer republic. In 1500 the Danish king tried to annex Dithmarschen and invaded it. Behind a dam the 3000 defenders waited for the attacking Danes. When the Danes entered the battlefield they could only run on small stripes because of the flooded fields. The Dithmarscher opened at least one dam and the Danes were caught in the trap. Although numbering 10.000 they had no place really to fight and most of the killed died in the water. The Dithmarscher however knew the terrain and were so able to push the knights out of the saddles with long stabs. After this debacle Denmark had to wait another 60 years before being successful annxexing Dithmarschen.
In this battle the Dithmarscher could get much money by the danish war treasure and other stuff, like the Danebrog, the danish ensign.
Wulf Isebrand, the Farmer´s leader, became a hero.
