Of course, where both are trying to model the same thing (barbarian horse archers, for example) they had better come out looking very similar or someone is missing something . . .
But Civ VI's insistence on grouping units and their special attributes by Class (Melee, Anti-Cav, Siege, etc) is, I think, a strait jacket they should abandon for Civ VII. Applying the 'specialties' to individual units as Humankind does is much more flexible, and still leaves room to make some of the special attributes the subject of Promotions (as Humankind does not do - their 'promotions' or Veterancies are much more generic) as Civ VI does. Applying them to individual units instead of classes also allows for things like Melee combat unit with better mobility or Scouts with better combat ability, something they are both largely forbidden under the Class system in Civ VI because their respective Promotion Trees do not include them.
