Thoughts on Diablo III?

Actually it only teaches people that there's something about australian business law that's seriously screwed up.
Has anyone here got the game ?
I lost interest at some point in the past three years but I'd like to read opinions. It's at 3,5 on metacritic but that's mostly due to people who gave it 0 points because they can't log in.
I've read there's no skill system and no way to customise your char and it's reportedly pretty short and easy (some Korean dudes have managed to beat the game in 5 hours).
If this is true I have really no interest in Diablo 3.

You could also beat Diablo 1 and 2 on normal in less than 10 hours I'm pretty sure. Beating the game has never really been the point.

That's exactly, what I have written a minute ago in a German forum. :)

I will play after work today and I am very excited. We'll see

I'm not so sure. You're telling me that if a business goes belly-up in Germany, it has to refund its customers first before paying creditors?

Besides, I also mentioned why else the pre-ordering craze is bad.

Sorry, I didn't understand that the company in question is going bankrupt. I didn't realise what 'administration' means in this context.
I just saw they aren't stockind D3 and won't give refunds.
My bad.

Blizzard is taking care of them though, those who have a receipt of their purchase can buy it in the Blizzard store and will receive a refund from Blizzard upon submitting the receipt.

As a side note, I kind of wish they had made an announcement in-game that they would be taking some of the servers down for maintenance. It seems that you could continue playing if you were in game, but if you logged out, say to change characters, you won't be able to get back in and I did just that.

And to think that this whole log-in debacle would be totally avoidable without the restrictive copy protectinon.
<snip>
You buy the game, you have to wait a day or two until Blizzard has enough servers.
I remember extremely long log-in times for Diablo 2 was new. Thing is, you only had this kind of problem in multiplayer and not in solo mode.

You don't say.

So is this game good or not?

And don't tell me it can be beat in 5 hours. Maybe D2 could, but I took my time and explored every map fully. I'd fully explore all 7 tombs in Act 2 of D2, even if I found the right one early. And as annoying as those first few jungle maps were in Act3, I'd explore every one fully.

Please tell me it has a skill system like D2, or some way to customize your character, and isn't too dependent on item drops.

yeah, act 1 in D2 was pretty easy too. Only one minor boss in there was tough I believe. Although the final boss could be quite tough with certain classes if you solo. But I rarely solo'd bosses in D2.

It still sounds too easy though. I don't understand why gaming companies underestimate the skill of gamers. Not all games need to be designed for 10 year olds.

When I was a teenager, I couldn't finish any games, but I still had fun. I never did beat Bard's Tale 2 or 3 (never played one, but I watched my brother play it), or Wasteland. But they were excellent games.

Yeah, I call BS on anyone saying they finish any Diablo game at any setting in 5 hours. 10 hours is still hard to believe for any one except a cracked-out, over caffeinated ex-gold farmer who will be the next headline for dying while on a 3 day gaming binge.

Oh that's funny. I think Normal-Hell got cleared within 24 hours, but I haven't deliberately checked Twitch recently to confirm. Might have been 30. Normal is rofl-stomp. The streams bear witness to it.

@Disgustipated

Diablo was always dependent on item drops. In D3 they basically leveled all of the skills out and have the player pick 6 of them at a time a la Guild Wars. (Getting a new rune on a skill is just another way of saying you have access to another skill).

Yeah that's my only dislike of the Diablo games. I hate farming with a passion, and I refuse to do it. Once I play the game through once, I'm pretty much done. I'm not going to farm the same content over and over hoping for drops. I'm more into the action than the drops.
