Thread closing is NOT the answer

Moderator tags will work for anyone. It would be good if they didn't, but there is probably no way to restrict the tag to moderators only.

Unless you're a moderator, you use them at your EXTREME peril.

Yes I would second that. I really learned my lesson!

Well, in the future, I'm sure that won't be repeated, I would be MUCH more severe too people I gave the benifit of the doubt too. :yeah:

Here's some trivia, who came up with the color for the mod warning?

Hint: It's me

Very subtle, gonzo, I almost miss the hint. :)

About as subtle as hitting your face with a bat.

Depending on the different styles, it appears differently on each style. But Lefty's choice of using a peach color, which is subtle on Pale White, is also not so easy to see on Dark Blue.

LOL! That was hillarous.

Trivia: who was the really cool guy that came up with the idea to put a dog's picture with the mod tags.

Uh oh seems a really cool guy is editing your trivia ;)

I did the really cool guy on purpose so I wouldn't get in trouble.

Just a quick question: Why was the "Your Dream Headlines" thread ( here ) closed? Yes, it was getting silly, but I don't think it was hurting anything.

Probably because people were not only spamming, but spamming about spam in huge, spammy letters.

But it said headlines. Headlines are supposed to be in huge letters.

It was a puppy, a pure-bread white miniature schnauzer of only a few months old. It was only there to supplement the hot pink mod warning btw :p

You really cool guy

That hot-pink color was a really cool thing that wouldn't have worked at all, because it would mean something really cool.

And you didn't answer the question...:p

Edit: tags

If a mod has many posts, numerous views - way more than any other... there is no mud-slinging etc... then one has to ask why close it down? If the thread loses direction - people will lose interest on their own - if it keeps people interested then keep it open...

My challenge to Cracker for a "duel" playing Civ-Mulitplayer was a great thread... it was funny, civilized & good ideas were coming from it - and it was popular - it stirred things up...

keep closing down such threads and it will remove the fun out of the forums in my view..

@teturkhan: I cannot speak directly about your thread, mainly because I haven't stepped w/in the civ3 forums in a LONG time, but I will say, without knowing for sure what was in the thread, that if it breaks the rules it MUST be closed. Just because people are having fun in it doesn't make it any more valid or acceptable. If you let some things slide, then the rules *****es jump all over you later for it when you close their thread.

You want to no longer have fun on the forums? Try modding them ;)

Oy, the NES forum always has been an oddity, it just never ends!!!

Why didn't teturkhan just PM Cracker if he wanted to play against him?
