this is a personal post (i.e. not endorsed by my team)

I'm tired of all the rules discussions. Rik and Thunderfall have said it all. we all understand what is within the spirit of the game despite posts from various people. certain elements should shut up with the mudslinging (like me and igor). IIRC all the teams have met. Let the sh** fall where it may. My $.02 to let Rik rule.

You might be tired of the rules discussion/legal stuff, but it is each teams' right to bring forth amendments/additions/removals to the ruleset. Each team was allowed to review the ruleset and propose any changes. None were made to the amendment process.

You [The teams] approved Ginger_Ale and myself as the administrators for this game. We've organized, helped set up, and got this game rolling. Simply letting Rik's will be done is unfair to both us and the game. Once again: Ginger_Ale and RegentMan run this game and deals with all of your issues, Rik moderates and makes sure that no CFC rules are being broken. Sure, Rik is a great asset to this game and I'm glad he's taken such an active role. However simply saying he should rule with an iron fist is a punch in the stomach.

My two cents? Quit complaining and avoid the legal threads. In fact, have your UN rep post about UN happenings in your private forums (that should be their job or something!). Those mere four lines are pure bull, and I hope they don't represent anyone else's opinion.

I agree with Regentman here, in respect for the game admins that are running this game on an ongiong daily basis, we should respect the attempts to shape up rule 2.4, permanently. Cult worship is not the solution to this, as Rik has stated himself, we are here to have a good atmosphere and abide by forum rules, except for that, anything goes within the ruleset.

We are certainly not seeing teams asking admins for a conveniently timed complaint on a non-described or ill-defined "Spirit" violation.

Adding to the above posts, RegentMan and I are not the ones making the rules, if this is directed at us. Rik + TF (who never visits the forum, fyi, he just created them for us) enforce the Forum Rules. The rest is up to you. We leave you lots of room to play the game you want it as long as it follows the rules. All the teams have different styles of forum structure, threads, playing style, etc. The teams are the ones responsible for bringing up rule changes - don't like rule changes, don't suggest any. Simple as that!

I agree with you. Lets just do what we do best and play a game to the best of our abilities, knowing the rules so we can play in a spirit of competition, but not one of cheating. BTW, this is just me a private citizen and no the team's thoughts.

@ GA, RM -

First, I stand by my comment.

Second, my comments were in no way directed to Regentman or GA. The point I was trying to make is that the teams are spending way too much time arguing about the letter of the law.

I recoginize the administrators have to respond to issues brought up by each team. thus the polls and voting.

Regent and GA have done a fine job.

it wasn't

well said. My point was that the teams in general are making too much of a comma here or a semi colon there. It is apparent everyone knows how to play and in what spirit. Let's stop squabbling and just play.

I suggest we double RM's and GA's pay for putting up with us. these are on me for RM, and GA.

We've all met? Doesn't sound right to me...

Igor's pretty dumb, all statements should be taken with grain of salt. IIRC, KISS has lots of imaginary friends. How bout u?

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly, implying you have heard about something in the past but do not trust your memory.

AFAIK = As Far As I Know, meaning you think you know the answer but are leaving the door open for the chance your knowledge is incomplete. :)

MwBITDG = Meanwhile, back in the DemoGame. :D

So, IIRC we have an ongoing game here, AFAIK someone has the turn, MwBITDG let's move along, nothing significant to see here...

Unfortunately, 2 * $0.00 equals $0.00 :(

Thank you for specifying that the post wasn't directed at us. However, reading that first post and seeing basically "let Rik rule" kind of does put off a bad tone to Ginger_Ale and myself.

@ regent, my post was meant to tell all teams to stop arguing and just play. No offense intended to you and GA. sorry for being an idiot and not communicating clearly

I think that there has been some confusion over Rik's role in this game. Since he is a moderator and the map-maker, I know that I've confused him for an admin a couple of times. He then directs me very politely to RM & GA.

I don't think that AK intended to hurt anyone's feelings. Although the lawyer speak is very annoying.

Well, then, one could just write "to play the game and stop arguing" in the outset, and the confusion would be saved. Anyways, said rule discussion is already grinded to a halt, and with reference to "Spirit of the Game" as an enforcable and non-arbitrary "rule", I already quit arguing

If someone cannot stand legalese, it is much better to stay out of rule discussions and play the game, in place of condemning those discussing the same rules. That is nothing but a display of disrespect.

At this point, it seems more effective to point fingers than to propose solid rules, which makes the prospect of making "the Spirit of the Game" a rule even a less promising idea. Again, the ultimate rule now, is to maintain a good atmosphere, and I see attempts to link that with "Spirit of the Game" here.

If someone observes a playstyle they do not like, say they are hurt, and then use the atmosphere clause jointly with the spirit of the game, that is not acceptable, in particular if the action does not break any other rule.

Therefore, I can only ask the teams to play with the integrity and sportsmanship they can do, and with reputation hits a bigger risk than being cheated in a deal, especially with the public condemnations we observe, I think this will regulate itself just finely. Sometimes the law of nature is as good as the law of man. I think the legalese discussion is moot, more or less, since teams are more or less adamant in their positions.
