I do not think it matters much, we have a choice I think.

If indeed Monty is the weaker and Saladin the stronger, the disicion comes down to.
Do we think we will have an edge over Saladin later more so than we have now? Cause if we can be stronger military later, then take him later. If not take him now.

My question is this, do we have some clearcut military techs that will give us the edge in about 20-30 turns?
Yes? Beeline them, take Monty
No? Take Sal... Tech? Semi relavant as we are "up on the rest" allready. (nearly) shut down tech, switch to a Buy kind of Civic and buy our way to Domination....
 
I would prefer to take out Sal, taking Mecca right off the bat. That is his only real production city. Bring about 10 cannons. After that, it's a cakewalk. I think Monty is still running around with jaguars and maces, so I would worry too much about him.

Summery:
Early: Finished with England on the given turn, moved forces west, changed civics for extra 2xp, found LA by the sea to the south

Middle: declare on Saladin, produced lots troops and waited for Saladin to through its stacks on us.

late: moved massive forces to Mecca and capture it (on the extra turn I took just to do this). Saladin had in the capital 8 cats so I moved some troops off the main stack to be decoys, he took the bait!

I believe that we can take off Saladin now without even declaring peace to regroup. although it make take some time to do that due to its culture that forces us to move slowly.

Few more notes on my turn set:
- Mansa came to offer a deal to get Corporation for Chemistry which I gladly accepted. he later demanded MT but I refused.
- China canceled a deal that gave us sheep, Rome canceled open borders. our diplomatic relations are so red.
- I used the great engineer to get us iron works in Seattle. we should eventually get red cross over there.
- we need one more uni to build oxford in Chicago.
- win/lose ratio : 54/9 (4 of the loses are suicide cats and cannons, 2 were decoys) there were several retreats on each side.
- there are some unmoved troops in the last turn (I really wanted to take out Mecca) some of the troops are heading to siege the northern city (Medina IIRC), and the spill over Mecca forces can raze down the shouthern city.

I think you can take the usual 10 turns since as it is we are in turn 266, so keeping exact 10 turns is not that important.

I think we should reach tanks and artillery (maybe even getting some navy seals). at least we should get infantry since the AI has rifles.
 
I wouldn't be able to take it until late tonight, so I'll go ahead and wait for my turn.

That was a nice job on the Sal attack. Not sure what to do about the diplo situation, or that we really need to do anything except be prepared for anyone to attack at any time. Good luck Namliam.

EDIT: Just looked at the save, here are some suggestions,

-Bumping the culture slider up to 20 takes care of most happiness problems
-We probably want to continue making Islam/Confucian missionaries even during war to convert newly conquered cities. Confucian buildings are great in these cities too (more assimilation and gold for us).
-Happiness is starting to be a real issue. Keep a close eye each turn for when Mansa hooks up those spices in the SW corner of the map to trade for them. Looks like he will get extra gold resource soon too.
-Forbidden Palace would be better at Mecca perhaps?

Hehe, the same thought occurred to me: "We should march over and take 'em." Might not be the "optimum" way in terms of diplomatic management/empire maintenance and earliest conquest, but certainly possible.

We should consider grabbing Kafuh, re-group, attack Monti and in about 30-35 turns finish off with Saladin.

First things first I am going to participate in SGOTM, so I will probably wait untill atleast 1 more of the SGs has finished untill starting the next one...

Be adviced rddc, there will be quite some goto's left mostly workers heading north and some units heading West.
I Pillaged some of the farms while waiting and bombing Saladin, so we have something to do for our workers and so we had some extra $$$.
I didnt pillage any cottages (and alike).

I think we should head (techs) for Rails, faster troop movement and more hammers....
 
Sorry I didn't get to this last night guys, R/L and all. Will definitely play it tonight.

Don't worry bout the goto's. At this point in the game, with so many units to manage, they are welcome as far as I am concerned.

I did notice a spare settler but there aren't any real good city sites. I'm open to suggestions.
 
I think that we will win this by backdoor domination-we allready got 41% of pop so it will be quicker then true domination.
