We have a serious situation to address ... a barbarian camp has appeared near a group of workers and also near an undefended city. We must therefore stall the Construction swap for 4 (?) turns ... an uprising under these conditions will cause us no end of problems.

We shall write to inform you when we have dealt with this scenario and to give you the nod for the trade to resume ... on receipt of the note you will resend Construction and we in turn will send the remaining technologies.

Can I suggest that you sit back and turn research completely off and bathe in the riches that this will produce.

Dear TNT

We will go as originally planned and accept Construction and send you all technologies this turn ... our Military has devised a devious plan which exploits the barbarian's Lemmingness and will lure the savages to their doom.

We will send instructions on the MA tech swap which will be us gifting (with accept) when we receive it and you doing likewise ... it must be sent with accept to ensure that we both get it as early as possible, this way we will both be able to start researching alternative techs at the earliest opportunity.

Now about the trade deal that is now postponed. I understand the main swap involving Construction will have to wait, but we really need the secrets of Polytheism right now! My people want to start on a research of a form of government called Monarchy. There are already whispers of possible revolution. If you would be so kind as to gift us Poltheism this coming turn, we promise to uphold our bargain and go through with the main swap when your barbarian problem is no more.

Lastly, we think we have a way to help you with your barbarian problem. As you may know, when you enter a new age, a huge barbarian uprising will occur. If you were to trade us your AA techs to us the turn before we give you Construction, it would postpone your arrival at the Middle Ages for a turn. I believe this would give you an extra turn to subdue the barbarians before they rise up. I hope you would accept our generous help.

You should also have read the next message sent a number of hours later where I informed you that the deal goes ahead as originally planned. We have designed a contingency plan for these savages which will use their predictibility against them.

The expected outcome will hopefully Meleet willing, will result in enough scalps to make a cloak of many colours, that is if we were as uncivilised as these beastmen

I also mentioned that in regards to the MA tech swap ... to ensure that we both do not lose any precious research time waiting, we should send the free technology to each other (with ACCEPT) as soon as we are granted them.

We put Monotheism on the table and send without accept (if we click accept, then we are giving them Monotheism for nothing). They put Feudalism on their side of the table and send with accept (accepting Feudalism for Monotheism). Then we click accept our next turn and the techs are officially exchanged.

EDIT - X-post with Fe3333au. Yes, I'm sure - the price of Feudalism dropped, but the price of Engineering did not.

It seems that Meleet looks down and smiles on the true believers.

The gift freely given to us was Monotheism and to you Feudalism. Knowledge equal and even in value and power, the best scenario that could be possible for rapid growth, prosperity and security. Now as per our agreement we will swap them between us and be strong.

We were wondering if you would like to continue to combine our scientific strengths and research different technologies with the aim of swapping again, thereby furthering our respective leads on those that have forsaken the path of enlightened wisdom.

Our proposal is for MIA to next research Chivalry and get some knights into the field of battle and for TNT to research Engineering to get destructive power of the trebuchet.

You would then go on with Invention and Gunpowder and we would go for Theology and Education to counter the only threat to our lead, the damned Great Library

What say you? Will the Enlightened combine their brains

Now as you can see there is a difference in 12 levels in our favour ... however we would like you to consider that it is even in lieu of the value of our last massive trade ... however if you see it different we await your proposal.
