TOMO2 - Semi-OCC

The roster on the first page was the order in which we signed up. ;)

I've added the order of play to the first post as well as the roaster.

Thanks. Just fyi, I won't be able to play tonight as we had a meeting at school this evening about our out-of-school internships during senior year (next year for me). Left at 7 and got back just now at around 9:30, so I've lost most of the evening. Sorry about that.

I think we may be screwed...

(Interturn): Sumeria demands our Territory Map and 5 gold. Cave. The Iroquois move a Pike up to Cataragea.

(1)

Consta: Knight-Knight
Cata: Treb-Treb

The Celts start Shakes.

Leaving a Crusader, and two Knights, one wounded, in Cataragea I send the rest of our army towards Salamanca to raze it.

(2)

The Iroquois land a Longbow outside Cataragea. Our Elite Knight kills it.

Our stack continues towards Salamanca.

(3)

The Iroquois are more than slightly pathetic. They show up with a Warrior and Spearman outside Cataragea, easily dispatched. Our Crusader promotes to Elite.

Salamanca is defended by a Pike on top.

(4)

An Aztec Frigate attacks and sinks the SS Maroon :(

The Aztecs have also landed a Musket, a Longbowman and two Cavalry on a Mountain outside Cataragea. *gulp* There isn't anything we can do.

We lose a Knight and a Crusader attacking Salamanca, but kill a Pike and 4 Spears... and are left with a single, one-hp Spear defending Salamanca. *sigh*

(5)

The Celts declare war on Portugal. Our Caravel is sunk by the Aztecs. We lose a Crusader at Cataragea, but the city holds.

Consta: Knight-Knight

We lose nothing, kill two Spears and a Longbow and raze Salamanca and the Sistine Chapel. Five Iroquois Workers join our (2CC) Empire.

(6)

The Aztecs land another Cavalry, an MDI and another Musket outside Cataragea and a Cavalry outside Constantinople. It feels as if we're playing AW here. We kill the Cavalry outside Constantinople but can't do anything about the troops outside Cataragea.

(7)

In the interturn, the Aztecs call up and offer peace. It costs us 143 gold and 10 gpt, but it's better than being reduced to an OCC without Iron. I agree.

We lose a Crusader and two Knights to an Iroquois counterattack.

Using the captured Iroquois Workers as "shiny objects", our surviving Crusader and Army flee back to Cataragea. (It only sort of works and we lose the Crusader.)

(8)

War Weariness increases (or maybe War Happiness from the Aztecs ends). Both cities riot.

(9)

Sumeria declares war on Portugal and begins Universal Suffrage. We kill and Iroquois Longbow.

(10)

Germany and China sign peace. The Germans want 140 gold and 2 gpt for peace. We need to end some wars, so I take it.

Consta: Knight-Heroic Epic (due in 10).

Cataragea riots. Again.

I'll let the next player choose the course of action to take against Grand River.

Umm... I think I got it.

Well... got it, but I'm not sure if the save will work. Random saves have been loading properly and others do not.

It does look like we're screwed, though. Maybe we should have just went straight OCC and went for the 20K.

That sounds fatal. Is it a do over?

Pre-flight: Hire a clown in Catar.

We're not gonna be winning any wars any time soon. Unit support is also killing us.

Advance troops on Grand River.

Disband our two warriors.

IT: China and Portugal have signed a military alliance against Sumeria.

Iroquois and Sumeria sign a military alliance against China.

1160AD (1): Bombardment of Grand River shows two vet spears and a reg Pike.

Army kills Pike losing one hp. Shows reg spear.
Army kills reg spear flawlessly.
Knight kills wounded vet spear flawlessly.
Elite knight kills wounded vet spear and Smith's is ours.

IT: Lose a longbow.

1170AD (2): Advance on Gandasetaigon.

IT: Aztecs and Iroquois sign an embargo versus us. :(

1180AD (3):

Elite knight loses three hp versus reg spear, wins.
Army kills reg spear flawlessly and Gandasetaigon is ours.

Peace with the Iroquois for Physics, Economics, and 50 gold.

Physics to Germany for saltpeter, horses, 2 gold, and his WM.
Chemistry to China for Music Theory, WM and 2 gold.
110 gold to Portugal for Furs.

Nicaea founded.

IT: China and Portugal have sign a military alliance against the Celts.

Constantinople riots? I could have sworn I fixed it last turn... :hmm:

1190AD (4): Varna founded.

Physics and Metallurgy to China for Democracy, 30 gold, and 3 gpt.

1200AD (5): Rush the library in Grand River.

IT: Aztecs and Sumeria sign a military alliance against Germany.

Grand River: Library --> Marketplace

1210AD (6): 330 gold, WM, and our only spices to China for Free Artistry.

Switch production to Shakespeare's theatre.

1220AD (7): Nothing.

IT: Lose the FS Cuivienen to an Aztec privateer.

Celts and Sumeria sign a military alliance against Germany.

Tenochtitlan finishes Shakespeare's Theatre.

1230AD (8): Switch Constantinople to Heroic Epic.

227 gold, 45 gpt, WM, and our only iron to Portugal for Magnetism.
Magnetism and 7 gpt to China for Theory of Gravity.

And...

We draw Medicine!!!! [party]

Hold off from trading, though.

IT: Germany and Sumeria sign peace.

1240AD (9): Hire a scientist in Constantinople. Start Sanitation. Start slimming down our army.

IT: The people expand our palace twice.

1250AD (10): Start a fort.

Notes:
- We have a monopoly on Medicine. Use it well.
- The world is at war with itself. I forgot to take a picture, but everyone but us is in at least two wars.
- I've been trading away some of our only resources. If our iron runs out, we're screwed.

Nice recovery, boys and girls. It's far from a do-over and I knew you could pull it off.

Over to AdmK, I think.

Sounds like a mighty recovery!! Great work Tomoyo! Did you check sales prices on medicine? Next?

Why you are cleaning the valcano before jungles?
Because I pressed Shift-D thinking that it would bring up the diplomacy screen.

We should probably declare war on Portugal and see what we can gain from them. They look like they're about to collapse.

lurker's comment: Has Newton's already been built by the AI? Could you switch Constantinople to it if not and maybe be able to do some self research?

I didn't check, but I would think so, considering that all civs were building Shake's, then Shake's was finished and there was no cascade, although many civs had ToG.

1250 - no changes

IT - Ivory deal expires. HE finishes > cathedral. Roit at GR

1255: Idiot trades. Medicine to Henry for 1080g, MT, WM, 140gpt. 200gpt, WM, 115g to Gil for Nationalism. Medicine to Monte for 11gpt, +20g. Upgrade some knights. Embassy with Monte.

1285: RoP with Brennus for Steam

1295: Railing

IT: Otto and Brennus sign peace. Renew peace with otto straight up.

Not sure if I've done good or bad. At least we're alive.
