I got it and can play (now) for a couple hours. I am going to play 15.
 
Pre turn--Sums have Pyramids in Ur and Colossus in Sumer.
1. 2510 BC Sums have wheel for myst. Don't need it yet.
IBT Cuman raiding party attacks redlines our warrior but he promotes to vet.
3. 2430 BC add mp and move lux to 10%.
4. 2390 BC Germs have HBR. Trade myst for wheel and 3g to Sums just in case. See horses on island to the south.
IBT Germs start Colossus in Leipzig
5. 2350 BC disperse Cuman camp and get 25g unscathed
9. 2190 BC zzz
IBT Aztec start Colossus at Tenchtitlan
10. 2150 BC move Writing to 80% lux to 20 as we grow to 5.
IBT zzzz
11. 2110 BC Colossus in 3. Send suicide near Aztecs and see purple border and Hiawatha has IW.
Trade masonry for 89g and IW. See iron 3 tiles north of Kish. The Sums have our iron and our dyes.
They must die.
12. 2070 BC Curragh survives!
13. 2030 BC Other curragh sees an opening and finds another island.
Aztecs have writing. Trade CB and 14g for writing. Set to philo in 18.
IBT Gil asks us to leave and goes cautious. Whatever.
14. 1990 BC We have Colossus. Set to temple.
Just kidding Brother Bede! Set to gran in 6 grow in 6.
Our other suicide curragh sinks. :( Other curragh near Cattaraugus spys a settler and iron.
Sums change to Oracle in Sumer.
IBT Iroq. move to pyramids in Salamanca. Ur and Berlin are working it too.

----------Summary----------
We are only down HBR to Germs and ahead of everyone on a couple. Germs will trade for Alpha all their 111g and/or techs. I set 80% philo but it just started so it can easily be changed. Aztecs are down other techs so we have a shot. I figured we could always trade for the other techs.

Please note that if the granary completes on the same turn that the city grows, the granary will be empty. Please delay growth one turn, whoever's next.

When we get Philo, assuming we get it first, what should we get? I'm leaning towards Map Making, which I think is very necessary. Should we build a settler after our granary?

At the bottom of your screen, you'll see an "upload file" link. Click on it, and upload the images. Then, go to the folder, right-click the link to the image, and select "copy link location" (it may be something different for IE, though), and paste it between
.
 
I go to the bottom, click on upload file and upload the image. Then I physically type "
" Then, when I get the upload confirmation, i view the uploads folder and right click on properties for my file. I then copy the properties with control c. then I paste the copy (using control v) between the image brackets. hope this helps. it doesn't make sense to me even though I know what I do. Then again, i r an idiot.

@ tomoyo - I warned you ;) Settler before Lighthouse assuming we get Phil. first. Send a boat home to upgrade or build a galley after the settler?

@ whomp - if you do control N before you make your image, you can take the shadows off and make it easier for the old idiots like me to see :)

I think we should build a dromon after the settler (we need a harbor to upgrade) and then we try for the Lighthouse.
 
And of course we need Map Making above all.

BTW Whomp, playing a modified xCC, culture, like temples, helps to keep the AI off our front stoop. But the Colussus is worth more than a temple anyway.

Okay guys, Philo is in the bag as we still hold the monopoly on the enabling techs. Here is my dilemma: we will need the Great Light to make any use of the Isle of Pegasus, for example and almost any other uninhabited island we will find. We will undoubtedly build the Great Light unless SGL's are on and the smarty pants Sumerians or Germans learn something new then snarf Map Making and build the Lighthouse with an SGL. My problem, you ask? Can we tolerate a despotic GA, is my problem.

Any suggestions, or full speed ahead and damn the conventional wisdom?
 
I say we damn the conventional wisdom and use the GA to prepare some dromons and troops for attacking someone. I think we can win some cities off the Aztecs, but that's just me. Hopefully, we'll get the western end of Aztec island off the war. We might get a Despot GA from Dromons anyway.

Going wacko idiot thinking here. our boats are the badest on the planet. If we build a 3-5 boat stack and send them out to whack the AI, what happens? With a 3 boat stack, we get 2 bombards and then a killer dromon. If the PRNG is close to fair, we can whack anyone who is going anywhere. This should enable lots of pointy stick or shut down the AI. So the bottom line is damn the greek fire and full speed ahead. Then agaiin, y'all should know about idiots. :)
 
@AK: Dromons like lethal sea bombard, so if we get good RNG rolls, we don't even have to attack with our Dromons. I think, however, Bede was referring to the GA the Lighthouse might give us, but since when was the Colossus Scientific? :hmm:
 
I have a semi-OCC question Cmdr. T Can we keep Kish if it flips? It's not like we asked them to do it.
@ Admiral Our dromons will be the "pain" of their existence with that kind of idiocy. ;)
