TOMO2 - Semi-OCC

Colussus isn't Scientific but it is Seafaring IIRC, as is the Great Light and I think with the two you get egg roll, don't you?

i throw lots of stuff up for discussion. My point here was to bring up that with our UU we can keep the AI from meeting peeps (pirates of the idiocy?)

We are really go to need the Great Light if those horses area going to be any use to us as there are no coastal squares between us and the Isle of Pegasus.

I can get Germany's cash for either Alphabet or Mysticism but we don't really need HBR.

In 1910 Sumer learns Polytheism. We still hold IW and Writing above them.

In 1870 Iro suddenly pick up 50+ gold pieces and our brave coracle spots the reason why as there are green norders to the north of the Land of Sky Blue Waters. (Longfellow wrote Hamm's beer commercials, don't ya know.)

In 1830 meet the Celts north of Hiawathaland. They have no money, no knowledge and can't write or put one stone on top of the other.

In 1750 our borders expand and we pull the dyes into our orbit just as the granary finishes with population growth due the turn after. Instead of building a settler who will just add to the unit support burden start the Pyramids to accumulate shields towards the Great Light. Of course now we have the Golden Age in despotism problem looming since we have finished the Colussus and it is unlikely the stupid gits our neighbors will learn something useful like a new government.

In 1675 the Iro learn Writing so I build an embassy to see if they know anyone important. They know only the Celts who have only 27 gold pieces so it is unlikely any serious trading will take place.

In 1600 just as we are about to road the Dyes the borders of Kish expand and we lose them. :pissed:, fortunately the power of the Colussus is such that Constantinople remains happy and contented. Open an embassy with Sumeria so we can continue to build the dyes roads and maybe he will trade some of his excess with us.

Our vet warrior loses his life to barbarians in the Sumerian plains.

In 1575 sell Alphabet to Germany for 259g.

In 1550 Philosophy comes in and trade Writing to Germany for HBR and 28g, Sumeria is obviously working on Writing so I trade him HBR (he's got no horses and no iron in his borders) and Writing for Polytheism and 14g.

Switch the build at Constantinople to Great Lighthouse due in 13 and set a research course towards Literature and buy an RoP from Gil for 5gpt so we can buy some dyes from him later.

We are the technology wizards as we are ahead 3 to 5 techs on everybody. Set a course to Literature at maximum due in 23 @-6gpt with 418 in the bank and the Great Light due in 12.

@Whomp: We can take the flip, but we can't end the turn controlling the city. We either have to abandon it or give it to some other civ.

Tomoyo <-- On deck
Admiral Kutzov <-- Being an idiot :crazyeye:
Whomp <-- Insert label here
Bede <-- Set up the Lighthouse
Cuivienen <-- UP!

EDIT: We won't get the GA with the Lighthouse. We need wonders fulfilling both of our traits, AFAIK. If we opt to try for the Library, then this becomes an issue.

Glib seems like a complete waste when we are the tech monster.
@Admiral I agree those dromons will have long lasting effects on our little world. We can wreak havoc on their trade lanes too by keeping them in the black fog.
Now that I'll be thinking of the "land of sky blue waters" song all night I'll be
Whomp<-- "Paws for refreshment"

-- another Longfellowism :lol:
O/T
BTW Congrats on your World Rankings!! It seems our best player is up to bat!

It also seems that she has a tendency to join my SGs, but she has yet to play a turn... :hmm:

Anyway, I'm not that confident in that ranking thing. I still think a player's survey would be more effective...

Although it isn't because of nothing she got into the top 100...

Oh, and by the way, I'm using the not standard 24/48.5 rule here. The extra half an hour is for typing up the log, taking pictures, uploading saves and pictures, and doing a million other things while doing that.

Sorry about that. I neglected to say that I was away for Monday and Tuesday.

Got it.

1475 BC (1) –
I move the Worker to build a road to Kish.

1450 BC (2) –
ZZZ. Not much happening.

IT – Aztecs kick us out.

1425 BC (3) –
ZZZ.

1400 BC (4) –
The Germans seem to have a large island to themselves. We need to slow their growth to prevent them from running away too quickly. I demand all of their gold. Bismarck refuses, and I declare war. They don’t have Map Making so they can’t threaten us, but they will put priority to Military over Settlers and Culture, at least for a while.

1375 BC (5) –
Sumeria begins the Temple of Artemis in Lagash. We have a trade route to Sumeria now. The mildly-useless Horseback Riding gets us 147 gold from the Iroquois and 86 gold from the Aztecs. That’s the best we’re ever going to get for it.

1350 BC (6) –
The Aztecs begin the Great Lighthouse.

1325 BC (7) –
ZZZ.

1300 BC (8) –
The Germans begin the Temple of Artemis.

1275 BC (9) –
While exploring I discover a rather fertile island north of the Sumerians. We should be a able to settle a good part of it.

1250 BC (10) –
An Aztec Galley hoves into view south of Consta. They’ll meet the Sumerians soon, it looks like. The Great Lighthouse is due in one turn, Literature in 12.

But Commander T that's what the Hamm's bear does in the land of sky blue waters!!

As I have no idea who this Longfellow fellow is, I'm just trying to use it somewhat correctly... :crazyeye:

Bede was making a little joke as Mr. Longfellow was a famous poet and educator.

1250BC (0): Looks good.

IT: The Great Lighthouse --> Dromon

1225BC (1): Workers mine.

IT: Germans call for peace. I refuse.

The Aztec galley takes the route that doesn't give them contact with the Sumerians.

1200BC (2): :sleep:

IT: Dromon --> Dromon

1175BC (3): Sink a barbarian galley, but get our Dromon injured. I guess the Aztecs will make contact anyway.

Sell Iron Working to the SUmerians for 122 gold before the Aztecs do.

1150BC (4): I could attack the Aztec galley this turn with the Dromon, but it's injured and I don't want to do it.

IT: Ur completes the Pyramids! :eek:

Dromon --> Settler

1125BC (5): The Sumerians magically know Monarchy. It's okay, since we don't want it anyway.

1100BC (6): :sleep:

IT: Settler --> Spearman

The Sumerians found a city to our northeast.

1075BC (7): Sumerians won't trade Monarchy.

IT: Entremont completes the Oracle.

1050BC (8): Spot an Aztec Settler pair near Sumeria.

IT: Spearman --> Settler

1025BC (9): Settler and spearman set sail.

1000BC (10): Iroquois have CoL. Trade Polytheism for it.

975BC (11): Race the Aztecs to Pegasus island.

IT: Settler --> Harbor

950BC (12): Land the settler pair

IT: The Aztecs found. Literature --> Republic. (at min)

925BC (13): Since the Aztecs took our spot, we head towards the horsie, but I won't go there yet.

900BC (14): Adrianople founded. Starts worker.

IT: Harbor --> Library

875BC (15): :sleep:

Feel free the change my build orders.

A Lighthouse and boats that spew fire :cool:

Fire is good in the world of idiocy. magic craft that float and spew fire are almost too much. Give me your plans so I don't mess this up.

One more thing: The Dromon with the Settler is going to claim the horses.

Recon: Switch Constantinople to MoM.

850: join the native worker to Constaninople. Raise lux.

IT: Otto finishes Artemis.

800: Sell Gil CoL for 39g + Math (too cheap, too soon?), Sell Math to Hiawatha for 134g. Meet Mao, sell him HBR for 168g.

750: Peace +300g with Otto for Math. Build Caeserea, claim horses.

IT: Monte declares on Gil.

730: idiocy rules

IT: Lagash finishes MoM

710: Change Constantinople to GLib.

IT: Sumer finishes HG

690 IT: Adrianople worker > harbor

Nothing else. I tried to get the slaves to an iron colony, but the Sumerian borders filled. Hope the decision to go for the Glib won't be a disaster. I didn't see a whole lotta need (as opposed to a whole lotta led) to settle on Pegasus Island further. Here's the trade situation. I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about this set. Sorry.

I think we should turn the GL into a regular library or a temple or something. We should use the shields to build some troops to hopefully invade someone (Aztecs?). Does anyone think that I'm crazy with this idea and I should be shoved into a room with X-man in the industrial age?

(BTW, I thought you were referring to the Ottomans, when you said "Otto" for a while... :crazyeye:)
