TOMO2 - Semi-OCC

550AD (0): Send the FS Kutzov and the FS Juicy off to Adrian's Island. Rename the Crusaders "Plus Sign Warriors". Sorry if anyone's offended.

Press Enter.

IT: Adrianople's borders expand, and Erech completes Magellan's Voyage.

560AD (1): Lower science to 60% because we're running out of money. Sumeria has Banking but there's nothing we can do about that.

IT: Looks like we don't have iron anymore. Can't get it either.

Connie: Knight --> Dromon. Pops a Plus Sign Warrior.

570AD (2): I'm gonna prepare to attack Monty. He's the closest island. Fill up FS Tomoyo and send it somewhere.

580AD (3): I don't know what to do...

IT: Sumerians enter our border.

Constant: Dromon --> Longbowman

590AD (4): Full Dromon meets Gaelic Galley. Decide that it's better to attack than to risk being attacked.

IT: Aztecs declare war on the Sumerians. Quoth the Foreign Advisor,.

600AD (5): Uh oh, FS Tomoyo meets German Galley...

Land some troops in Germany just for kicks. Germany still wants Caesarea for peace.

IT: German galleys avoid us! Sumerians are building Smith's.

610AD (6): Lose a Knight, and take Bremen! Now Germany will take peace if we give them Bremen back.

Try some bombarding with our Fire Ships, but nothing happens.

IT: Watch a lot of intimidating German troops move around.

Constantine: Longbowman --> Dromon
Caesar: Courthouse --> Marketplace

620AD (7): Think about it a lot, and end up making peace with Germany after sinking a galley with FS Cuivienen (or however you spell it) and moving our Crusaders into Bremen, for Bremen.

IT: Sumerian ROP ends.

630AD (8): Get ivory from China.

Attack of Celtic city miserably fails and the injured Knight and FS Tomoyo return home.

IT: Germany and Iroquois sign peace. :), says the Advisor. :(, says I.

Con-con: Dromon --> LBM

640AD (9): Chase a Gaelic Gaeley.

IT: Iroquois and Sumeria have signed an alliance against the Aztecs. :)

650AD (10): Bomb the Gaeley with two Dromons.

Notes:

I've got three Dromons hot on the tail of a Gaeley. Hunt it down.

Next better player

We should really attack the Aztecs soon. Nice as 3CC is, I don't think that it was the variant.

660 AD (1) -

The FS Juicy and FS Kutzov sink two Gaeleys. Lowering Science gets up +16 gpt next turn.

The Aztecs tell us to withdraw or else. We do.

670 AD (2) -

We discover Banking. The Iroquois give us Astronomy and their World Map for it. The Germans give us Iron and Gunpowder for Astronomy and Banking. The Portuguese give us 16 gpt and 40 gold for Banking, but not Navigation or Music Theory (which is useless anyway). The Aztecs give us Navigation and 29 gold for Banking. I waver a bit, then set research to Chemistry.

680 AD (3) -

Watch an Iroquois Longbow lose spectacularily attacking an Aztec Longbow.

The Germans are building Bach's.

690 AD (4) -

The SS Maroon, FS Dearest and FS Cuivienen make good use of Lethal Sea Bombardment and sink a Gaeley without attacking.

700 AD, 710 AD (5, 6) -

La La La...

720 AD (7) -

The SS Maroon, FS Cuivienen and FS Dearest approach Cattaraugus holding four Knights. Hopefully we can take the town (which has Iron) from the Celts. Adrianople finished its Marketplace. The Germans want an alliance Vs Sumeria. Yeah, right.

730 AD (8) -

We land outside Cattaraugus on a Mountain. The three ships bombard the town, redlining the Pikeman and injuring the Spearmen, which seem to be the only defenders. Almost too good to be true.

An Aztec Cavalry (!!!) mutilates an Iroquois Longbow on the southern island.

The Iroquois begin Smith's.

740 AD (9) -

No Celtic attacks. Our Dyes deal expires, I rebuy for 40 gold and 4 gpt.

Bombardment of Cattaraugus gives us the same results as last time. The Pike is redlined and the Spera injured. We attack...

And discover that at least one Longbow is in the city. The Spearman humiliates our Plus Sign Warrior and kills him 1-4. *sigh* Our next Plus Sign Warrior kills the Longbow, then the last two kill the Pike and Spear and Cattaraugus is ours! It's already linked up via the Iroquois Harbors, so it begins a Temple to prevent it from flipping to the Iroquois (the Celts had no culture in it).

Cattaraugus is renamed to Cataragea.

750 AD (10) -

The Wines deal expires, I rebuy at the same price (6 gpt, some small change and WM.)

Portugal and Sumeria sign against the Aztecs.

Good job getting us iron!

Aztec Cavalry? It doesn't look very safe attacking them, but we will have to do it sooner or later.

Where's the saltpeter? Any chance we can disconnect the Aztec on with Dromons?

I wrote that comment before seeing the Cavalry. They must be importing Saltpeter, though, as I see none in their territory.

EDIT: Must be buying from either the Celts or the Germans. Those are the only two with excess Saltpeter.

Another EDIT: The three ships north of Aztec lands are headed for Camulodunum, which has Saltpeter and an extra source of Iron as well as a convenient Mountain for safe landing. We have Navigation now, so we can cut across the open ocean.

Nice trading Cuivienen!!! Progress too. We have increased our kingdom by 33%! Wee who! Cmdr. T is the Admiral up next?

One more thing....how do you change a unit's name?? I can't figure it out. I'm so lame I have to create a leader to rename units. ;)

Tomoyo <-- Played before Cuivienen
Admiral Kutzov <-- UP!
Whomp <-- On deck
Bede <-- Hoping not to have to face a monster Sumeria
Cuivienen <-- Just played

EDIT: Shift-N renames a unit. :D

A-K--Saltpeter and a tradeable resource seems to be an obvious objective. Hopefully the Aztecs will be a little gassed once we shift objectives.

need a delay or swap. young cat. which has lived with old cat for 3 years, has decided it must kill old cat all of a sudden. I've got hissy fits left and right and the damn vet hasn't called back. The hissing and spitting ain't pretty. I should be able to grab this tomorrow if I don't have a dead pet to bury.

@A-K,what's your blah-blah,I can't understand. :hmm:
Translation: Little kitty attacks old cat. Old cat injured. He must take the old cat to the vet so he doesn't have to bury it?

That's not cool. Take your time A-K.
We got a new puppy recently that is terrorizing the older dog so I can sympathize with the poor old cat.

kitty psychosis temporarily under control... idiot psychosis running rampant...

push button

IT: Here come the celts. Volcano smolders near Cataragea.

760: Pillage road near Cataragea. + warrior falls to 2 MDI

770: Gil and Brennus ally v. Otto. Celt MDI lands near Constantinople. Volcano erupts.

770: + warrior kills MDI at the capital. 20+ celts tramping south.

780: fire boats go 1 for 6. Kill 5 celts at Cataragea . More celts tramping south.

790: Chem > metal.

800: peace with Brennus. He gives us a WM.

810: rush temple in Cataragea. Gil and Monte sign peace.

820: lose ivory supply.

830: trade Mao mono for ivory. Henry's boats sailing around.

840: Henry lands SoD at Tamuin. This should be fun to watch. Monte finishes Bachs.

Goal accomplished. didn't lose what cvn gained?

@ CVN - how was the essay?

I don't see any salt to grab with our meager military. I've kind of got us in holding pattern. IMIO, Henry should be our next target. He's got some nice lux.

The essay was fairly easy. They gave us a quote about how majority rule was often wrong and that we shouldn't follow majority rule, then you had to argue for or against majority rule. I argued for, saying that majority rule doesn't always work, but it's better than anything else. I didn't remember that Winston Churchill said something very similar or I would have included it, but I did mention Apartheid and pre-civil war Lebanon and crazy monarchs. All in all fairly easy.

Looks good on the game, too. We should begin repositioning troops for the inevitable war with the Aztecs.

EDIT: Or Portugal, that works too.

Really glad I'm old and didn't have to do the essay thing. It bothers me how different graders will rate the essay. Not convinced it will be apples to apples to apples.

Think we should avoid Monte until we at least have muskets. Henry appear to be easy pickings and just as backwards as we are.

If we can't get Monty we should attack Porty.

I'll have to take the SAT in two years... I have time to wait for the SAT people to realize that the essay just doesn't work...

I hope. :(
