Tom's Unit Factory

Dragon Golem (unit conversion)

Fast, big, and strong, the Dragon Golem combines almost all the attributes one could desire in a wicked melee fighter. His mechanical nature also keeps him immune from Mind Spells and other woes that befall live creatures.

No Civ Colours.

As always, thanks for doing these; they look great!:)

Silver Dragon (unit conversion)

Silver dragons are kind and helpful. They will cheerfully assist good creatures if their need is genuine. They often take the forms of kindly old men or fair damsels when associating with people.

At birth, a silver dragon's scales are blue-gray with silver highlights. As the dragon approaches adulthood, its color slowly lightens to brightly gleaming silver. An adult or older silver dragon has scales so fine that the individual scales are scarcely visible. From a distance, these dragons look as if they have been sculpted from pure metal.

No Civ Colours.

In reference to shadows:

Doing a shadow like Orkel showed:

is perfectly possible.

I tried to get a shadow created in the way actual 3d model shadows show using Photoshop; which is perfectly possible and easy to do for single static images or photographs, BUT, for 3d animated objects, there are huge problems because everytime the image moves (it's feet) there is no possible way to 'anchor' portions of the shadow. This cause the shadow to move unpredictably and does not look good.

Here is a sample of this done:
FaerieDragonShadows.gif

As can be seen, the shadow jumps since there is no way to 'anchor' it at the bottom (that I know of, or have found)

I could do the same as Orkel did, and have the actual unit just slightly project a shadow NW, with downside being the shadow never matches the feet position, and in some cases may look strange against light colored terrain.

Or I could just add a small generic elipitical shadow underneath every unit, which would be of similar style and shape to the actual unit, but would be static very light shadow, just to give depth.

Whirlpool (unit conversion)

A whirlpool is a swirling body of water usually produced by ocean tides. The vast majority of whirlpools are not very powerful. The most powerful whirlpools are created in narrow shallow straits with fast flowing water.

No Civ Colours. 3 Versions included with different edges (normal, shadowed, and slightly modified).

No Civ Colours. I may blend the edges of the whirlpool here shortly, to get rid of the outside pixels and upload soon as a 2nd version.

Now THIS is seriously interesting ... Epic game; barbarian unit limited to coasts, MF=1, invisible ...

Holy Kord, dude, great additions. I absolutely love the whirlpool and the early balloon. Now my early balloon tech has a unit to add to it! I hope you keep up the conversions, as these are really quite valuable and will keep me modding forever!
