Tom's Unit Factory

Imagine complaining about all these wonderful new units. That is so fricken sad. Who cares where they came from. It's not like you are trying to pass them off as your own work. And as you pointed out there are many, many conversions already on this site. You're not using them for any comercial reason. I'm sure no moderators will have a problem with what you are doing Tom and all of us following this thread support you in all the hard work you are doing converting these units. We very much appreciate it. Some people... sigh.

Wow the Blue Half Dragon looks even cooler than the Black one! Nice work.

The Red Half-Dragon has been added Here at post #38.

Oooooh! Demogorgon!!! I just saw that. Downloaded immediately. Thanks for all this, tom2050. You've provided a lot of really cool units.:goodjob:

Moderator Action: If Civfanatics receives a "cease & desist" from the copyright holder things get removed from the site. Beyond that there's not much we can do. No one has made an official report or other communication. It appears that you have given credit where credit is due to the best of your ability. You might want to double check that your descriptions on the download pages include a brief acknowledgment if they don't already.

I have a few barbarian units done, but I am trying to find the best way to add civ colors to them, since I assume that is a priority for human units. The only way to do it is to make all the brown portions of those units civ colored (which is pretty much the whole unit). It should look fine, but if someone wants, I could release the non-civ colored ones as well.

Tom

I can post both versions, civ colored and non-civ colored for units then. It takes very little time to do an extra version, so I do that for now on.

Once CoMM3 is released, I will have about 100-120+ more units to post up as well (includes spell graphics) in here and the recoloured graphics thread. For spells, I may make a new thread, since I have found many other sources of spells that can be converted although I don't have the time to do those right now, but the more the better :).

Silver Gorgon (unit conversion)

Converted for the upcoming mod Conquests of Might and Magic III.

The name Gorgon gets applied to creatures that would be more accurately described as Catoblepas. It is a mid-sized creature, sluggish, with a heavy head and a face always turned to the ground. It's gaze, like that of the basilisk, was lethal, making the heaviness of its head quite fortunate. Its back has scales that protect the beast. Its stare or breath could either turn people into stone, or kill them.

Unit32, Large and Small pcx, and Sound Files included. A NWN unit.

Recommended to set this unit to 'Ranged Attack Animation'.

Thanks again for all your work doing this, Tom!:goodjob:

Question to all:
Most of these do not have shadows... And I like shadows, and most of you probably like shadows also. No shadows looks aquward 99% of the time.

I tried using photoshop to add shadows; which ended up coming out all distorted because there is no way to do it right to a 2d image.
Since these are conversions of conversions of the original units, the only way these were originally converted was for them to do renders of the originals (but they did them with no shadows).
It is possible for me to do (close to the same) process, but with shadows.

The +'s of this are:
They would have shadows :)

The -'s are:
Each would take MUCH longer to convert (2-3+ days mostly render time compared to an hour or so)

Is it worth it?
My break from these is close to over... so what say you? :)
