My main concern was mod sizes being increased by very large unit sizes. That unit uses a 240x180 size, which was a factor. I'll try to keep each unit under 2 MB depending on the unit and if quality is not compromised.
Tom can you tell me where you converted your newest units(exemple Golshan)?
I'm no longer doing Infinitum unit conversions... There are many problems with them, mostly with correctly their offsets (not all are like that, but many). To get them centered properly, majority of them require fixing the offset of each individual direction of each animation. So for 7 animations, that is 56 corrections needed to be done with the storyboard. Very time-consuming.
Chances are, the Infinitum units were converted from the games to work with Diablo 2, so they probably require the animations to be as they are.
Eventually I will continue to do the units from Infinitum, but by converting the 3d models from the games themselves. Doing this will make a better end unit, and it will have shadows as well.
These units are conversions from 3d Models. They use NIF / KF files (which are the same graphics format that Civ 4 uses, different format version). The game they came from should be listed on each unit page. Golshan came from Kohan 2.
---------------
In addition, the standard Anti-Alias setting was making these units come out a little more blurred than they should have, I have adjusted it so the unit stays looking crisp.
For Civ Colors, it is tough to add a civ color band on some units, like the next:
I cannot add new pieces to the unit (not enough 3ds skill), but I can modify the texture to add it in. In this case, either the whole unit can be made civ coloured (pink raptors running around), or a blue colored band, a specific piece of the raptor (back, tail, any piece or portion of the raptor, etc) could be added somewhere.
What do you think is the best? I am not sure. I could just do it similar to the dinos in PTW.
EDIT: Going off how some of the PTW Dinos were done... Something like this may work pretty well.
