I' ve lost track of all versions,I played Sid Miers CIV on PC. Then I used to play CIV2 on playstation. Then I found just regular old CIV3 PC. So I went and bought it, and thus my confusion began. Then I found out I needed civ 3PTW or CIV3 GOLD EDITION to play online. I bought GOLD EDITION 1.27f. Then I was interested in conquests so I puchased it aswell and found out they operated as two seperate games. Now there is CIV3 COMPLETE and CIV3 COLLECTER'S EDITION. Number 4 is underway ... . I can' nt wait. Anyone wanna gimme a rundown of every release, version and necessary patches, for all the civ three's ?.

Sincearly, Luao. :)

P.S. someone wanna fill me in on where the ranking system is or games are set up, I am new to this club/forum. I have GOLD version 1.27F. If anyone want's to play soon. peace. :king:

I play with 31 civs and wich there was a way for more to play against. I just which the load time would be faster with all 31 civs. I use CIV3 Complete.

Civ III 1.29F
PTW 1,27F
C3C or Conquest 1.22F

C3C has PTW included and Complete has all three versions.
Civ4 maybe this year, we will see.

Have played...

Civ 1 (Amiga version) starting around 1992
Civ1 for windows
Civ 2
Civ 3
PTW

haven't got conquests, may just wait till Civ4, salivate, drool.

In the beginning was CivDos, and it was good. Then Sid said "Let there be a Windows version" and it was good. Then Sid said "Let there be multiplayer" and CivNet was created.

Sid rested a bit from his works, then eventually got bored. He said "Let us create a bigger, better Civ, with cooler graphics and more cool stuff!" and thus Civ2 was created. Then Sid said, "Let there be a better scenario editor" and Civ2: Fantastic Worlds was created. Then Sid said, "let there be multiplayer again" and Civ2: Multiplayer Gold was created.

At this time a rival deity claimed a portion of the Civilization franchise and released their counterfeit "Civilization: Call to Power". Sid said "Let us destroy these usurpers by wrapping up the best of Civ2 in one package". Thus was Civ2: The Test of Time created.

More time passed, and the usurper's "Call to Power 2" was released to basic indifference. Then Sid said "Let there be culture, and national boundaries" and Civ3 was created. Yet once again, Sid had forgotten an important part. "Let there be multiplayer--oh, and more civs", thus was Civ3: Play the World" created. Another year passed, and Sid said "Let there be even more civs--and some cool historical scenarios and more units and governments" thus creating Civ3Conquests.

As of this writing, the latest pronouncement from Sid has been revealed "Let there be 3D graphics--and religions" as Civ4 progresses.

Ohhhhhh...So THAT's why Civ: Call to power is so different from Civ 3. I just found Call to power lying around my computer desk, and I couldn't figure out where in the world it fit in with the civ series.

Thanks for clarifying my history-of-civ dilemma.

you forgot the part where the Great Sid fell into heresy and lost his powers of creation resulting in a flawed civ3 ;) and how a prophet named Bryan Reynolds prevoiusly saved the essence of civ in his heart and made civ2.9 aka Alpha Centauri :p
