TOS - Yamato

Sadly you already caught a bunch of my planes.

I havn't got the save yet, but it sounds like you went for Carnavon rather than Broome.

I had prepared my defences thinking that you were going to invade Broome, but when I thought about it Carnavon made more sense as a target (Carnavon makes a nice starting point to hop from city to city, Broome is more remote). I hurriedly redeployed my ground forces, but for whatever reason, didn't move some of my planes from the new front-line.

As I have said before, live and learn.

The Dutch don't do anything.

CARNAVON AND GERALDTON FALLS
Yesterday, in a flawlessly executed orchestrated plan, the combined might of the IJA and the IJN overran Australian defenses in both the towns of Carnavon and Geraldton. Carnavon was captured unchallenged. Geraldton posed some resistance as light tanks and marines stormed the city. There were light fighting before the ANZAC surrendered. IJA and IJN reports no losses. Soon after capturing Carnavon, the IJA began to mop up the straggling Aussie troops outside Carnavon. An elite Nipponese Infantry division terminates a gravely wounded ANZAC division and combat engineers incinerated a guerilla squad nearby.

OPERATION HAKUGEI UNCHALLENGED
Despite the setback of losing the first IJA expeditionary army, their loss has not been in vain. By taking down 3 light tank divisions and 1 guerilla division, the fearless soldiers will be always honoured at the Yasukuni war shrine. Emboldened by the sacrifice these men made, the 4th and the 25th army landed this week in Australia ready to take on the Westerners. Will this be a repeat of the China blitzkrieg campaign? Only time will tell...

AUSTRALIA RAILWAYS STRUCK BY ROCKS!
Daily commuter service between Sydney and Brisbane has been cancelled due to meteor strikes. Rail experts are puzzled by the large portions of newly laid rail tracks replaced by craters. This is truly an inconvenience especially during a time of war like this. There are rumours about IJN ships making those craters but this information has not been confirmed.

Other news:
One more section of road near Darwin destroyed by bombers.

PERTH FALLS
The 25th light tank army stormed the CW industrial city of Perth on June 4th. Defended by conscript troops, the defenders fled as great barrages of artillery from IJN battleships pummeled Perth's defense works. In the ensuing melee, the 25th light tank army destroys three conscript ANZAC divisions as the army moved towards the city centre. Additional IJA elements moved to reinforce the Perth attack has attacked nearby CW units at Perth. At the loss of one regular Nipponese division, the IJA reports that one light tank, one ANZAC, and one marine division has been terminated. It appears that blitzkrieg tactics have caught the distraught Australian defenders off guard.

One more thing, I think the Wake CAP might have shot down another US plane as I find two slightly damaged Zeros on the airfield. They were at full health before.

Hope you both had great holidays. GPS.

-Despite being strafed by aircraft, IJN CA Kako (off Sydney) still manages to sink a sub sent to finish her off.

-In another desperate counter-attack, CW forces destroy the 25th IJ Army (3 tanks), and reduce the 6th IJ Army (3 Infantry) to half-strength. 6 aircraft are used in the bombardment, and 3 tanks and 2 guerillas and lost in the fighting. This could very well be the last-hurrah for the Aussies.

Edit: Just clarifying that it was a Jap CA sinking a CW sub.

HOPETOWN FALLS
Beaten and battered, the Australian homeguard abandons the town of Hopetown to the Imperial liberators. Nearby guerilla elements were quelled by elite Nipponese Infantry divisions. The IJA continues to push through south Australia.

RAF MASSACRED
The Australian airforce based in Eucla was devastated by the might of the IJAF. Reports indicate no less than 14 squadrons of planes taking off to sortee against the remnants of the homeguard's airforce. It is reported that at least five air squadrons based in Eucla was rendered to ashes as IJAF planes hammer the airfields uncontested. It is also reported that one squadron mistaken Eucla's granary for a fuel depot and destroyed it. Air superiority in Australia is all but assured.
