TR04 - Losers vs 5CC deity

Open an embassy with Izzie and take a look at the shields in her bin. We have 23 or so at Adrianople. If we can beat her to it and it is going to be a race, try for it. Take Map Making and then a beaker burn on Literature, so if Liz gets the Bulb we can cascade to the Book Bin.

Taking Lit as the frrebie won't get us the Library any faster then we can research and pre-build.

Thus spain will know iroquois unless we kill their boats and indians and incans may know iroquois and spain unless we kill their boats. I DL'd the save, but Bede will be back before I have any useful commentary, so I'll just continue to semi-spam in the manner you're all used to. I really think we need MM asap. Off to look for more smilies to have fun with.

EDIT: see I told you he'd be back quick

I have to expend all of our gold on the embassy and then I'll have to cut back on science...Are you sure?

I could switch the citizen in Nicaea to a scientist and cut back on science to break even...

EDIT:: OK I'm off to establish an embassy with Izzy and burn like a bat out of Hades towards Lit.

We can back into it if anybody can remember when she started the Oracle.

But your idea works if one or more scientists equals the beakers lost when you dial down the budget.

She's 6 turns away. I'm not sure that we can match that. I might be able to trade for tech parity with Phil. Not completely sure though. Still go for MM?

Spain finished the Colossus and started the Pyramids in Madrid in 1830 BC.

Here is what I saw

If we miss MM on the phil slinger, couldn't we go for currency and trade to parity?

EDIT: another xpost

@ tubby - need to know what program you're using for screenies to prepare the resize tutorial

I'm with the Admiral on this one. Get Phil, "Big Picture" trade for Maths, then do the Currency thingie. That will get us Map Making and enough cash to make a run at Literature.

Well guys, I have to get into work tomorrow and be coherent. I have to verify some near critical-path software change before our production line can start back up. I'm going to let everyone stew on this for a day.

I have to use paint at home. I grab the image using Screenshot assistant into a bmp then in paint I shrink it until I can still read everything (if reading is necessary). Then save it to jpg format. How small do you shrink your pictures? Do you use higher jpg compression (I'm not sure what I have set up in paint)?

I'm planning on getting an older version of Paint Shop Pro at home. (free from work) so that'll make it easier. BTW, its PSP 4.0

Note that the other AI do NOT have a lot of cash. Right now we have zero due to the embassy build. I think that sum total the amount of cash of the known civs is ~80. This doesn't seem like a lot of cash to make a run for anything. Izzy will finish the GLH in 6 turns. Should we start planting boats in places to hinder her from coming over to our continent?

@ tubby - I grab the shot with alt+printscreen. I then paste it into paint and make the annotations. I save it as a bmp. Then I load up MS picturethis to resize and/or crop and save as a jpeg. While this is unwieldy, it seems to give me clearer pix than staying in paint. Just noticed the smilies you're using in the city shot. Where'd you get those?

We could always build a stack of dromons and go take the big bulb away...

AK: get IrfanView ( http://www.irfanview.com ). It's the best and easiest prog for resizing.
I use Corel first for the shots (print + copy), since here I can do the dotting and other effects, but still resize everything with the IrfanView freeware since it's most convinient (and I could paste it into this as well).

The save from 1250 BC.

Good news we got the free tech and are the tech leaders somehow  on my turns???

t0 look around and press enter

t1 Connie's town warrior -> worker
Meet Incans (only difference is they have incense and we have 28 more gold)
move warrior to Adrianople for happiness
convert newly gotten citizen in Connie to scientist to shave a turn off of Phil

t2Caesarea warrior -> worker
Nicaea warrior -> temple
Egypt has built the Oracle
Spainairds are building GLH
lower sci to 60%

t3Connie worker -> temple
put sci back to 70% due to loss of scientist
stop ask for help
establish embassy and GLH due in 6 turns

t4We learn Philo
goto big picture
trade Phil to Hittites for HBR and 12 G
trade HBR & Phil to Ghandi for Math & 9G
can't trade Izzy anything for MM yet
Take Currency but Izzy doesn't know Math yet so I can't tell her how to use coins.
Indians are building MoM
I learn from Mapstat that now Spain & Hittites know MM so I can now trade Izzy
MAth for MM & 32 gold
Turn science up to 70 @-2gpt (lux @ 30)
workers road forests near Adrianople
worker starts road on furs by Connie's
Nicaea citizen switched back to fish

t5
Spain is building MoM
start suicide run off of Eastern edge of island

t6
Iroquois are building GLH
Hittites are building MoM
Hittites are buildind GLH
suicide curraph sinks

t7
switch citizen in Connie's to scientist to prevent rioting

t8
Hiawatha demands to know how to plant dead people. I give in because I know

he'll declare and it's not worth it right now

t9
Spain builds GLH

t10
switch citizen in Caesarea to scientist to drop Lit down to 13 turns
roads in forests complete including furs!!!

I did Micro manage some to get to 80% and have a few scientists to drop the due date for books to 11 turns. Temple is due next turn in Constantinople. I left one of the curraphs unmoved. I'd suggest for it to go to the southern side of India. Also the Incans would probably give us all of their 45 G for HBR (one of 4 techs that we have that they don't).

? Recon: Decide to torture Tubby and change all builds to wealth. :joke:

IT: Connie temple >market. Change Nicea to harbor

1225: Phil to Pach for 46g

1175 IT: horses connected. Nicea harbor >dromon

1150: Meet Cleo. She ain't got nothin' Start curragh on suicide run to the west of Coriwhatever

1125: curragh sights new coast

IT: curragh flawlessly sinks

1100: by magic we now know Hiawatha. He's a rube, trade him shiny beads, math, myst for CoL

1025: Meet Abu. If Hiawatha was a rube, Abu is a mark. Trade him wheel and IW for Poly + 51g

1000: Trade Cleo HBR, Poly, CoL for Construction + 31g. It appears Igor has successfully cloned himself (either that or he and maryann are reproducing quicker than bunnies) and infiltrated various foreign governments. We are sure this is diety? Drop science to 50%.

Here's my first try with the new toy provided by DocT.

Clipboard.jpg

Change the temple builds to libraries? Change MoM to GL. More boats

Super!!! I like that new tool. Was it hard to use? Thanks again DocT.

Not hard to use. Still getting used to it.

Think we need lots of boats to send out with letters of marque. If we can maintain our lead, this may be a game where it would actually pay to have a fleet of privateers to attack the AI without causing a war. Each stack could be escorted by one frigate.
