Trade routes UI thoughts

My biggest issue with trade routes is the seperation of the UI that lets you find the best route, and the UI that selects it. I can go to the trade tab and see all routes I have, and don't have and sort them and it's great. However...

When a new trade route becomes available via creating a caravan or an old one expiring, I get the second UI - a big scrolling mess.

I propose that the second UI be replaced. When a new route becomes available the trade routes available screen pops up. The screen is activated (changed) in some way so that you can assign the trade routes if you have unassigned ones.

Here's the thing: I agree with you, in that every single time I get a new trade route available, I usually open up the main trade window, sort them from best to worst, pick the best one, and then go back to the actual trade route selection screen and choose it.

But I can't really see how we could apply this to the actual trade route selection screen when it's not a 'popup' window. It's also not a huge priority since the trade route sorting screen works fine, even if it should be used to select them as well.

EDIT: Wow, I misread this post. Sorry. I agree with you entirely, but still think it's not a priority.

I'd put it among the top messy UI fixes once the mod reaches that stage actually. There's a ton of micro involved in trade routes because you have to reset them often. A couple of sort options would be good on that screen versus the summary trade screen which has them and they work well.

A couple of thoughts further on the trade routes.

1) City States with a quest for trade should be so noted.
2) Civs that you do/don't have a trade route should be so noted (diplomatic victory)

Anything else is sortable that I can tell on the trade route summary.

I'd like to add to this an option to auto-renew trade routes. When you have 8 of them it can get rather annoying.

And yet I would also like a way to cancel them early (with a minimal time length) because sometimes mistakes are made. Also because illogical to not be able to cancel your own trade routes.
