The current GOTM is emperor level, and the next SGOTM is Monarch IIRC.

As you are aware, the GOTM 'conquest' class is aimed at helping those who class themselves as Chieftan / Warlord / Regent players to get a bit of a hand-up at the higher levels.

Occassionally there have been training games run that aim to do similar things. I'm keen to run a training game in Succession-Game format.

The game will be on a reasonably difficult level (Emperor). If anyone's keen, I am looking for four or five people who are interested. The requirements are that you are a GOTM Conquest-class player, or, if you haven't played the GOTM before, that you consider yourself a regent level (max) player. Bear in mind that I'll insist on making the players discuss the pros & cons of various options endlessly before actually letting them play turns though ;)

If you're interested, sign-up below. Hopefully we can get a team together that can compete in SGOTM 3. :D

would someone be disqualified if they played GOTM31 on open (and lost!)?
I usually play conquest but my ego was overinflated this month! *runs back to conquest with tail between legs*
How much time would be spent on the forum/gametime? I would really appreciate some help with warmongering!

I'm a decent Regent player, looking to expand into the higher difficulty levels, and I'd love a spot in this TDG! :)

Is this vanilla Civ though? 1.29f?
I don't have C3C or PTW :/

Count me in.

I generally play "Monarch" but Iam been away from civ3 for a long period.
Also am unfamilar with 129F version

Help Me figure out why the AI likes to attack me for no reason :D

@Ainwood: This is great that you're doing this. I'm in the TDG hosted by Gengis Khan and Sir Bugsy, and have benefitted a great deal from it. Many have expressed the hope that someone would start another TDG. I'll be lurking and looking for pointers.

Good luck to the students, this will be awesome!

Anyone else think it very possible that we can play SGOTM2?

If you guys want to form a team for GOTM2 then that would be fine. If you sign up individually you will be in a team with at least one Emperor/Deity level player though. It's up to you - depends how much you want to win the event I guess ;)

ainwood can we go as a team for Sgotm2 ???

Now all we need is a team name:
Say: "leet CS awp gay lords"

but seriously we need a Team name.
ummm .....

"Coalition of the Nubis"
"Team Nub"

Yes. You can play SGOTM2 as a team or as an individual. IF it were me then I would join as an individual to give myself the opportunity to play with some of the high rollers. The pressure of not screwing up is higher too, which is good - it concentrates the mind. :)

This TDG is seperate from SGOTM. You can play them both.

Well, SGOTM2 is based on GOTM8, and imo we should play something new, so nobody will have seen the map before (if possible).

I agree with Berrern. I've signed up for SGOTM2 already, mainly to learn something, but there is also a teeny tiny wish to win a game for once! I think that if we play the SGOTM (2) then we should look at not playing it as a competition, but more as a training exercise. Then we can whoop some @$$ in SGOTM3! :king:

If I may offer some friendly advice: don't play as a team in SGOTM2. You will learn more, and learn more quickly, by exposing yourselves to a broader range of perspectives, tactics, and strategy. Competition aside, if MB were to add a single Diety level player to your team, you would benefit and have a legitimate shot at winning the thing.

Consider this: If each of the five of you play on a different team, each with a diety-level medal-winning class player, and then you all bring that experience back here... then you would be in much better shape if you wanted to play SGOTM3 as a team.

Just my $0.02 (and the advice may not even be worth that...)

/trying to stay relurked...

Sounds good to me. We can all play SGOTM2 seperately, then come back and do SGOTM3 as a group. Let's hope ainwood and mad-bax are accomodating. :)

Is it the 15th yet? I'm excited to play my first SC game.

Sign me up, if there's still any place left. I own Civ3 and C3C.

EDIT: I haven't played any GOTM or SGOTM and I think I have a lot to learn from a TDG.

Great. :)

@King Alexander: Unfortunately, I think five is enough. Too many players, and it will be a bit cumbersome.

As for SGOTM2: I think its probably best to try and get things ready for SGOTM 3.

I'll sort out a game and start a thread for it in the next day or so. :)

Great :goodjob:
I'll wait for SGOTM3 to start up.
(I will probably end up like mabellino losing gotm)

Any problems with running both SGOTM3 and GOTM31 ???
Will there be any problems running both games on my PC ???? (file swapping) I am using Civi3 vanilla atm. Dont wanna end up screwing the game up
