I thought of this after the fact I won a DV as the Inca. What if I build Encampments in front of my Qhapaq Ñans? In theory, Traders and friendly units pass through with no issue, but in war, they'd theoretically close access by blocking entry for enemies unless they raze the Encampment.

Has anyone tried this?

The encampment would block that hex, but the enemy units could pop out on another hex adjacent to the Qhapaq Nan. Still not a bad idea as it would slow them down.

Wouldn't it be sufficient to park a melee unit in front or in the vicinity, so that it ZOCs it?

That also gave me another idea - why couldn't Military Engineers place minefields that would do 50 hp damage and use up all remaining movement points to an enemy unit, stepping on it. Laying mines would be more sensible activity for a military engineer than laying tracks, after all...

I did get a nice "surprise" achievement in attacking and killing an Incan unit from a tunnel recently. The tunnel system helped me take out the capital.
