Travel Through Time

hmmm Mapuche didn't cross my mind, but I would like to see them

I put Wari empire on my list bc similar to the Aztecs, the incans weren't the only empire in South America

If you do the Anasasi, assuming that pueblo was your UB, I would like to create a new UB, instead of using the Mesa Verde art as I am already using that one in my mod

Ideally the Anasasi(and Nahaho, Apache and other south-west natives) would have their own city style. It definitely feels weird having them share the same style as the Mayan or Incans.

A new Unique building could be this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiva

I don't beleive that the pueblos can because, although there are native american sets, I don't beleive there are any pueblos sets, and I do not know how to create them

I would possibly ask HROCHland, as I beleive he created a couple city sets

Yes Kiva could work, I could create the work once I get time, basically just a circle mud building with a whole and ladder in the middle, seems simple enough

Good news, Mourndraken told me he is very interested in helping when hes not tied up. :goodjob:

Unique unit...that is a good question. I know they were deadly enemies of the Navaho(Anasazi literally means "ancient enemy" in Navaho from what I understand.) so I would assume they had a good means to fend off Navaho attacks.

Alternately a scout UU could work, maybe a scout that has a bonus in deserts and perhaps a small speed boast?

you'd need a guerrilla prom in there as well, as they were masters of desert warfare

Guerilla leads to hill bonus, for desert it would be easier to simply in xml say they get a bonus while battling on the desert, no promotion

That is great news! Would love to see what he comes up with, maybe do a civ before anasazi if it would take him a while till he finds time

Yeah I was thinking that as well. Whom would be the leader though?
Thankyou Drakar for the suggestion. A desert-based combat bonus is what I had in mind.

There is no written record for Anasazi, but according to Chief Sun Cloud's (Hopi) oral histories, the first Anasazi Great Chief was Itzukuma.

A little historical background; Anasazi as a group were actually Hopi, Zuni, Pueblo, and Acoma, and started roughly 1500bc and then started to vanish approximately 1200ad. Anasazi itself, is actually an insult towards the Hopi, meaning "ancient enemy". The Hopi preferred to be called the "Old Ones" (and I forget the native name, sorry), and were the ones who primarily were the engineers of the great cliff house system at Chaco Canyon.
Chaco Canyon rivaled Cahokia in power and trade, as well as engineering (the only American natives to build complex cities inside a 600' + cliff). Additionally, there is some theories that the Anasazi traded with the Aztecs. Since the Pueblo only keep their histories in oral tradition, and are notoriously secretive about it, it makes it extremely difficult to gather any type of info about key figures.
The Great Chief was in all aspects similar to a mayor, or Governor in todays political society. He had a council of Chiefs (one from each of the four major tribes), a Shaman, and a Sprit Walker (according to legend, aliens visited the Anasazi and taught them some things, would explain their engineering skills :)) in order to get answers from the spirit world.

As for your leader head, you could probably use an old B&W image of one of the four tribes and insert the great chief's name....

I really gotta stop going into historical mode @ 4am in the morning, lol. Just trying to help guys.

 dont worry I think it helped, a lot of information I certainly couldn't find on wikipedia

 you sure you spelled the name right?

Positive. Chief Running Bear (Hopi) was giving a student lecture at the Medicine Wheel for native american studies. Only 20 students were allowed per semester, and field trip notes were written only. No cameras, no vids, no recorders.
Interestingly enough, we had Ute and Apache guides through the Trail to the Sky on our way there. According to legends, both of those tribes were the guardians of the Anasazi's doorway to the Spirit Realm. Fascinating history for the people, I wish I could have finished my thesis and been published (got an A on my paper though), as I had some really strong theories concerning them and the Chontal Mayans. But back then, the 4 corners tribes were having serious land issues with the US Gov, and each other, which made any type of thesis work open for legal issues. Only the native history dept heads of the main universities were allowed to freely publish.
