This thread is inspired by Da Ali G show that is coming to HBO. Personally i won't watch it but i think Trigger Happy TV is the best show out there. That guy, Dom Foly(?) is really great, and its a wonder the things he does. Anybody else like it? Or here of it?

Is it Dom Joly? I'm not 100% sure.

I did quite like the little I saw of it, yes.

I remember one sketch he did, dressed up as a punk with tattoos, chains and looking very mean etc. wandering around a park talking to people about poetry - just a great moment of pure incongruity.

When talking about Trigger Happy TV you have to mention the mobile phone, "HELLO! I'M IN THE LIBRARY! THE LIBRARY! YEAH, IT'S CRAP!" I heard they were going to make some American episodes without Dom Joly, anyone know if that is true?

You should Ali G is quite funny, it wears a little thin after a while but he did conquer Britain pretty quickly.

I love this show. It's the first refreshingly funny thing I've seen on American TV in a long time (first season of South Park was the last one).

What always amazes me is the laissez-faire attitude of the brits around them, who as far as I know, don't realize it's a show. The elderly couple who watch for cops as the robber steals the bike in broad daylight? Utterly hilarious.

Order of importance for the British;
1. Do not make a scene.
2. DO NOT MAKE A SCENE.
3. Breath/drink/eat/sleep/everything necessary to survive. Only if it doesn't breach rules one and two.

you really should watch ali g. hilariously funny.

i already read some some of the transcripts from the series filmed in america. some very very funny interviews.

@BFL: It's on Comedy Central at 10:30 pm EST. Don't know about other countries, sorry.

Jackass isn't the American equivalent of Trigger Happy TV. Jackass is mostly about stunts whereas Trigger Happy is about...what the hell is it about?

Making a scene. :)

You're the Brit, Mr. Pres. You tell me. My wife and I have both seen it, and neither one of us really get it. And what's with all those animal costumes? Hmm?

My description would be silly things done in public but I admit it isn't a very good description. I am hesitate to call it a hidden camera show because it doesn't actually rely on public reaction but rather the sillyness of the (for the want of a better word)"stunts". And animal costumes are funny.

Trigger Happy TV is fairly amusing even though I don't watch it very much. The phone bit always cracks me up though. I never really got into Ali G. I liked it when he had a small segmant on the 11 O'Clock Show, but a whole show of him is a little too much.

Ah. That must be the key to understanding.
Maybe Comedy Central's "Insomniac" would be funnier if Dave Whats-His-Name dressed up like a pigeon. (Don't hope that show crosses the Atlantic. Y'all have too few TV choices as it is.)

Joined your college debating society yet? They must be crying out for someone with your skills

I was thrown out of the debating society. Apparently it isn't "politically correct" to hit your opponent over the head with the rule book whilst shouting, 'show me the rule where it says I can't beat some sense into you, you [censored]'. It turns out rules 32 sub-section 2b says just that.

Jackass is named after the people who watch it.
Trigger Happy T.V is very funny and it is DOM JOLLY on the show and also Ali G is funny but also the way in which the REALLY COOL GUYS at my school thought he was real and not a fake
