Try-04: Lonely Civs and Bismarck the Builder

Well I'm ready:)

Thoughts on first moves, cripp? I made a post musing about it further up, let me know what you think.

I was thinking 1E on the circle, stone can use the fish. Once it's moved 1E we can see what else is there and decide if 2E is good.

Lurker comment ;) One east is strictly worse than in place... Fishing -> BW followed by a push toward the GLH (looking at the map, a lot of cities will likely be on the coast) and the mids (stone + high food capital) can be a nice opening for a builder game... if Monty is not out there waiting for you

Alternative to settling further east, we can just settle in place and ALSO settle a city for the stone that can use the fish (just steal the tile from the capitol). It's not like our cap will need 3 big food tiles full time, right? ;)

Yeah, one of your first WB could do some scouting near the stone... perhaps there is another sea food there. But as you said overlapping (is that a word ) the fish could indeed be a nice idea...

If you want to give it a start, cripp, feel free to play the first set!

Not going to bother with a set 'x turns per round' thing - just play a number of turns that makes sense (obviously don't go overboard); and just be sure to stop and consult the team if there's a decision to be made.

Ok, will do. My BTS took a dump so I'm re-installing. When I loaded the HOF3.17.001 and load the game, no screen. Could see the map/units but nothing else. Should be done shortly

EDIT: Played the 1st round 20t. Teched Fishing>BW>Ag(start). Build order warrior(part)>WB>warrior(finish)>worker. Huts popped map,160g. After BW

Stone/cow to the east, no copper.

No copper eh? Oh well, let's focus on expansion and take advantage of the stone to build some wonders :goodjob:

sorry about the technical troubles, if you don't hear back from them soon we can pass the save via email and another one of us can try to upload it (after opening it to make sure it works of course ;))

whoops, didn't see you had added the attachment. Please be sure to make a new post to let us know if you've updated a previous one ;)

Got it - my report soon.

Played 23 turns, scouted around and did some builder-y stuff.

Finished the worker, then built WB -> Settler. Another settler due in 6 turns thanks to a chop as the first one finished (which I also used 1 chop on).

Tech'd Agri (finished it) -> Wheel -> Sailling and started Mysticism (but no turns into it yet I think).

Other news, scout popped a hut for a map, and fought many animals.

A look at the land near us to settle in:

...and my thoughts on a dotmap (not very interesting placement, but oh well ):

I think we should build the Great Lighthouse, with all those coastal cities...assuming the team agrees on placement! City site 2 could very well be 1 instead (I'm thinking the stone/fish city should be 1 or 2, but it requires a galley)

Post a got it if you want it next!

Some interesting land there Tryn... Have we not met an AI yet?

I can grab it to play tomorrow if no one gets to it first. What is our tech path and the general plan? We need to grab a wonder in this age, and it's looking like TGL correct? Which means a run either for the stone across the straight, or down our landmass.

Oh yeah... might need a save to look at it :p

Oops, forgot save.

I think we could easily get 2 wonders for the ancient age (I'd love the mids) ... unfortunately I think the GLH doesn't have any prod bonus from stone.

No AIs yet, remember it's 1 continent per civ...continents seem rather large for that, I will admit!

lurker comment: indeed the GLH and the mids would be nice as the land around you isn't really awesome (so better trade routes and specialists would be cool). City 4 on the dotmap would be better one south (one the cow) to grab the fish... you will have stone anyways after a second border pop and it has far more food this way. :)

Cheers

edit: for the mids, the western stone can be linked faster

lurker comment: city 3 is already on the river... :)

Sooo, city 1 - fish/stone to the SW of the cap.

city 2, where it is.
city 3, 1 tile NE, E, or SE ?
city 4, 1 S (on the cows)

Seems like good adjustments, just need to decide where we want to stick city 3 when we get there.
