[TSL] Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack

For some reason, I just tried it again, and it worked...
I still would like to know
A) Will I need those mods to play this now?
B) Since the civs are placed in a different way with this mod, is there any way to exceed the 22 civ limit?

I don't understand your first question. You'll need the mode to be activated to reload your game if it's what you mean.

About the second, the answer is simple : not yet :D

For the first question, I meant that, in order to run the Giant Earth Map TSL for a NEW game, would I need to have the Mods for the Civilizations I added TSL for?

No, only if you want to play with those civilizations. The mod is designed to work even if the civilizations that you've defined TSL in the XML are not loaded. (that's why it works for player with or without the DLC, and why I made it ;) )

Awesome, thanks for the help!
One seemingly random question:
How hard would it be to make a new terrain type, if the graphic was already in the game?
I'm thinking volcanoes, using the tile image for Krakatoa...

Gedemon,

Could you work the europe map?

I liked so much, but i think it's too big for a few civs and only european civs are playable. Can you put more start locations and more civs?

Maybe could rename somes civs. Askia as cartage and more civs between Germany and Russia.

No more Civs between Russia and Germany, but tons of City-States. Vienna, Ragusa, Warsaw, add a Kiev, throw in a Prague, maybe a few down in the Caucuses. My main problem with the map is miniscule, and to do with the map itself, not the TSL. There's no Neva River for St Petersburg. You have Lake Lagoda, but no river to the Baltic.

If you don't like new civs, just don't use. But this map is looked at some civs.

I don't like city states, i just set off. I would like to have more civs with same sice for balanced domination games.

On the Earth Huge map, Vienna pops up in the middle of North America. The XML coordinates are wrong, and I would like to change them myself. However, is there a way to see map coordinates in the World Builder?

I'd like to play with Carthage (Mod). How can I add them to Huge Earth Map? Because I don't know how to edit (or can I edit something with the world builder?)

I registered just to ask the following: are you going to be updating this map to include the new Korean civilization?

Keep up the good work man, I love this mod - IMO, it's the best accurate world map.

Actually, just one error I found. Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Polynesia's Honolulu is on the wrong island. It should be on Oahu. Seeing as how the Polynesians have a UA of immediate water embarking, it shouldn't be a problem for them to spread to the big island.

Anyone else have any random crashes when playing this? My specs way surpass the required for this game, so it's strange. I was able to complete only an India game on this map with 20 civilizations (if I added one or two more civilizations, crashing happened more often - although recently when I tried playing as Greece with 20 civilizations the game crashed repeatedly at turn 100, and the same thing happened to me with the Aztecs with 20 civilizations at turn 80).

Even the India game crashed every once in a while, but I was able to load from save and continue - the other ones consistently crashed at the same turn, making it impossible to continue.

I suspect the author will be updating this, but Gedemon made it easy to add civilizations, anyways (its in one of the first posts, just be sure to double check for errors).
As a side note, are you using any other mods? They could cause crashes, too. I know that I'm currently using a very big mix of mods, and they cause a crash or graphics glitch every few hundred turns just because of how much is going on.

No other mods are being used. Running the game vanilla plus all of the DLC and just this mod. Which is why the crashes baffle me.

The europe made should be used with custom civs, here's a section ("Customize") on the first post on how to add TSL for new civs.

My main problem with the map is miniscule, and to do with the map itself, not the TSL. There's no Neva River for St Petersburg. You have Lake Lagoda, but no river to the Baltic.
Noted, I'll try to correct it, thanks for the report.

I'll have a look at that, maybe i've forgotten something when copy/pasting sections of code...

Anyway, in the WB there's a tab with plot properties (the edit plot tab) that show the coordinates of the plot.

I'd like to play with Carthage (Mod). How can I add them to Huge Earth Map? Because I don't know how to edit (or can I edit something with the world builder?)
See first post, and don't hesitate to ask if the explication is not detailled enough.

Yep, I'll update for Korea TSL, but next update may not be released immediatly, there are 2-3 things to finish before.

I'll have a look at polynesia, thanks.

About the crashes, the random one that can be bypassed with reloading is something that could happen, the map is well above the maximum size fixed by firaxis, so a few crahes could be expected during one game.

The constant ones are another thing, could you post a savegame from the turn before the crash ?

I've tried without luck to add a custom Civ to the maps TSL XML using the directions given in the first post. No idea what I'm doing wrong there. However, now I can't even access custom civs on the map select screen with v11. I only see the DLC civs (minus Korea) and standard civs. :(

Can you see any reason the Korea tag would cause an error?

In the current version, only the civs with TSL defined in the XML are shown on the setup screen.

I plan to add an option to make all civ selectable in this screen, the ones without TSL being placed randomly.

But I don't know if I'll have time to make this part of the next update.

Thanks for the quick response! Glad to hear all this!

And yep, a save game from the Aztec game I was playing is attached. Turn 99 is where it crashes without fail (I think I previously incorrectly mentioned it as turn 80).

@Gedemon: Ah okay I didn't see your example.
I inserted Carthage and everything is fine, but they have a really, really bad position, because of low population growth (it's desert at all ;) ). So I think it could be fair if there were one or two more luxury goods near Carthage (ivory, spices, wine). Furthermore I'd like to insert iron and horses, on the first hand because it's historical (horses from numidia, iron from mining facilities in northwestafrica and the sahara).
How can I do this?

You can edit the CivilizationsRequestedResource.xml file and add a row in the corresponding map entry for Carthage like this :

Code:
		<Row>
			<Type>CIVILIZATION_CARTHAGE</Type>
			<Req1>RESOURCE_IVORY</Req1>
			<Req2>RESOURCE_SPICE</Req2>
			<Req3>RESOURCE_WINE</Req3>
		</Row>
