Tupac03 - Aztecs in Space

All cities are connected by rail.
All but one tile along the German border is railed.
Built Gem City 2NW of Oodnadatta, have another settler to use later.
Built 3 more Cavalries, now up to 30. Left them where they were built.
New Boston will be abandoned this IBT.
We have a monopoly on Atomic Theory, which I did not try to exploit.
We are researching Radio, to get another monopoly.

Did not spend much cash, next player has plenty to spend.

Most worker groups are in stacks of 4 to rail a plains/grassland in one turn. Berlin is pretty well railed and so is Newcastle. Need to focus on our original core of cities next.

Seemed to be a rather quiet set of turns, except for the Wonder build.

My build orders may not be the best, so feel free to rethink them and change them as needed.

Could not figure out how to sell the aqueduct in New Boston. Have sold improvements in PTW, but Vanilla stumped me.

Yea fooled me too - apparently cant sell ducts nor hospitals

Pre-Flight

Things look pretty good

Leave most things as are, switch New Boston to settler and shell out the 80gp to get it in the interturn. MM a lot of cities for shields and growth (sacrifice a little commerce). India seems to be movign towards RAI. Can't quite figure out where we are supposably building Universal Suffrage though... I switch Hoover's to US. Dont worry, I know what I'm doing.

IBT - zzz

Turn 1 - New Boston abandons, Cairns completes a factory, set to Coal Plant. Disband a slave worker there and then rush the coal plant. Next turn it starts on Hoovers. Investigate all cities building US, we've got it ladz. We will have Universal Suffrage nearly 10 turns before anyone else! boo ya! Rush some factories and banks (spent about 3000gp this turn...)

IBT - France asks to renew peace and I accept, they ahve nothign worht trading for so nothing for us to put gpt into. Greece Renews furs deal (same deal, 13gpt).

Turn 2 - with factories being finished a set a couple of cities to mil units, but most of these cities are size 8 or below so order up some granaries. Hoovers will finish in Cairns in 19, US in Darwin in 10. After some thinking and remembering the times for the AI cities, I switch that around so we have Hoovers in 10 and US in 19. RR everything I can, Canberra got pollution in the interturn so I clean that up. Germany has lost their coal to french bombardment :D.

IBT - zzz

Turn 3 - a horrible turn of worker management, mange to fat-finger about 6 wrong moves. Ack! The good news? We steal Rep Parts (safely) from Greece, and we have a supply of rubber. The better news? Germany has 2 but 1 is in range of a first turn war attack and the 2nd is unconnected in an unconnected area of former french territory.

IBT - renogotiate India Gems deal so we get an extra 8gpt (up to 43gpt).

Turn 4 - Upgrade 8 rifles to Infantry and 26 cannons to arty. I am considering starting a war with Germany during my turnset but I think I might just get everything in place and leave it to Andronicus so he can have a full turnset. We'll see. Woah! With Rep parts 2 workers can rail or mine a tile in 1 turn. Niceeee! :D
Oh yeah by the way my spending has taken us to 656gp... uh.. sorry, I gues i got a little carried away with rushbuilding stuff

IBT - Egyptians start US.

Turn 5 - start by checking Thebes for time to build US an... oooh... uh... we might be putting the US build back into Darwin shall we... keep railroading. By the end of my turnset our whole empire should be railed.

IBT - France asks to renogotiate our lux deal. Now we could pay an extra 9gpt... or throw in gems as well. Considering how weak France is I opt for the gems. You never know when we might fall just 9gp shot of rushing something.

Turn 6 - turns change to 5 year intervals. Just worker moves really. MM Cairns and Darwin so Darwin loses some tiles (it can do that more and more as US gets closer without the time dropping) and pass them to Cairns, Hoovers drops by 2 turns there without US changing in Darwin. Only mountains are left to be railed.

IBT - zzz

Turn 7 (1260) - meh... just more worker moves. Can't even find somethign inane to make it look like I did something this turn

IBT - zzz

Turn 8 - some 'ducts finish. I have my most inpired (insipid? :crazyeye:) piece of MM of the turn (shows what a dull turn it was! ;)). Give the mountain to Cairns (make it a scientist in Darwin) US increases by 1 turn to 5 turns, Hoovers drops to 10 turns. But wait, theres more. Fire the scientist in Adelaide and send him to work the ocean, freeing up the food to mine the irrigated tile it was using. Then switch the Hoovers and US builds around so we have Hoovers in 5 and US in 10. Then swap some tiles around Brisbane and Perth to get Darwin back to building Hoovers in 4. Genius :mischief: well not really but I always get very proud of myself if i think of some moderately clever micromanagement. Not sure what to do with the settler Oodnatta built, are we saving him for raze and replace in the German war? I don't touch him but fortify him in the city. Now are you guys ready for the bad, bad news?

INDIA AND GREECE BOTH HAVE ATOMIC THEORY!!

I'm gutted because I was honestly considering trading it around last turn and then let my brain decide and I decided to hold off on it till the end of the turnset if possible... now I've missed out. :( I'm really sorry guys, I should have gone with my gut instinct, and now we've missed the chance. Oh yeah, and the worse news?

GERMANY HAS REP PARTS!!!

IBT - Egypt demands Atomic Theory, I tell them to suck a fish, and they back down. We must have been getting dyes and incense from them because we suddenly lose our supply of it.

Turn 9 - Sell Egypt AT for Communism + Incense + Dyes +3gp + WM. Every tile is worked and railed. Goody. Sell Germany Atomic Theory +500gp for Sanitation + Espionage. Two non-required techs but I have to get somethign out of AT seeing as how I lost us the monopoly.

IBT - zzz

Turn 10 - Carefully steal Corporation from India. a bit of maximising tile use with workers... mmm not really much this turn.

Ummm not much else to report really.

here's a picture of our lands.

picture38gl.jpg

I'm using Gem city as a worker pump (well planned to anyway), not to do much working but for use to push up the population of some cities who still have tiles to work. After Hoovers and US are built I'd suggest building the Intelligence Agency, I'd also suggest that we look to get 5 hospitals in some of our costal cities (so they can use all of those offshore tiles as well as the inland ones) to boost our commerce, pop, and allow us to build battlefield medicine.
We are probably capable of war with Germany. We need some more arty but we have plenty of infantry to cover stacks and hold our front. We also have a big stack of cavs and so forth in Berlin. I'd suggest that if we decide on war, that we look to pillage the rubber source near Munich with cavs asap.
We are only lacking refining from the tech leaders and we are up electronics on everyone. I don't think our min run on radio is goign to result in a monopoly. Could be wrong but I just don't think so.
Hoovers is in 2, Universal Suffrage in 8, checked the cities again on my last turn and we should get both without any worries. If you want to be absolutely safe, then switch the builds to get US in 2, kill the cascade instantly and then get hoovers 6 turns later. Whatever you feel like.

Anyway here's the save, hopefully Andronicus will have better luck than me :(

Merlin - UP
Andronicus - on deck

Whats our army strength like compared to Germany?
I expect arty and cavs with some inf supprot should make mincemeat of Bismark.
I agree with first priority to pillage said rubber

(

Please enlighten me  - I dont see why we're building Universal Suffrage - I consider it a fairly worthless wonder and we could have quite a few cavs in it's place.

Because we are a democracy and we want to remain in it as long as possible. To hell with Monarchy, to hell with Communism. Its the democratic governments we want, and when we go to war with Germany we want to stay in those governments as long as possible, hence going for Universal Suffrage.

Makes sense if Suffrage actually makes a sig diff, my limited experience is to be very disappointed in its effects. 8-10 extra cavs might also make the war shorter - the point is moot as we will obviously build it now.

fair enough but my experience is that it will usaully allow you to stay in war (in Republicz) for about an extra 6-7 turns. As i assume we aren't looking to wipe Germany out in the next war, just knock them back even further and get a GL for the Berlin palace and the land for our new core, then an extra 6-7 turns would be just what we want. Plus it never hurts to deny the AI a wonder.

Got it - will play tonight

Some thoughts

I disagree about value of Suffrage - I had a look at save and it will be 8 more turns - we could build intelligence agency next turn with no wastage of shields and no worries about someone else beating us to it - i believe this will be far more useful and only half the shields

We are tech leaders - it is time to take advantage of that by building libs and unis

Our army is more than strong enough for Germany - I dont think we need military units at the moment - we can destroy Germany and start building libs and unis for rapid research after the war (may require some lux slider use to counter WW during war)

I will attempt to get all cities upo to size 12 maximising tile usage.

Quick update

In 1300AD we get MGL -> palace in Berlin :band:

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/New_Palace_MGL.JPG

Bismark is down to 10 cities with 3 more about to fall soon  - not certain whether to press on after that - depends on WW, currently running 10% lux. He is about to have no more rubber

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/No_more_infantry.JPG

Darwin built Hoover in1280AD
Greece built Suffrage in 1295AD, we got intelligence agency

Traded away electronics for refining, wine, oil, 361gpt and 1450g

On track for all cities (except new ones) to be size 12 by end of turn - most with lib and uni

1310AD we get another MGL

I'm going to use him to rush military academy in Rubyvale (now our most productive city), so we can have armies any time we want in the future

Oh, and that screenie of me about to pillage Bismark's rubber ... guess who just found out armies cant pillage in vanilla

Wow that was fast! You destroyed them in ten turns. I'd say that this game is in the bag. We have a huge continent for ourselves. The aim is space so let's just do that as fast as we can. I'll start to build libs and unis everywhere. Settling the continent is also a priority.

No hurry finishing your turns, I can't play until tomorrow evening.

Not quite ... 10 turns - 12 (Im playing 15 to gett the numbers back on track)
Not quite ... "in the bag" - but we should manage it
Not quite ... continent to ourselves - Joan reclaimed 3 of her former cities
Oh, and libs and unis built already, still some more settling in former German lands to do (but not much)
